Hi everybody! I have a huge favor to ask! My daughter will be marching in the Mt Baker Mountaineer Band all the way from Washington State on April 9th at appx. 6:25pm (immediately before the parade). This is a huge big deal for her! The first time I took her to DL, she was seven and she saw a school band marching and was in awe. She said then and there that someday it would be her turn, and it is! You’ll recognize her band because they wear very spiffy red Scottish kilts. :cool1:

I will be there. I’m one of the chaperones. My problem is, I suffer from lupus and MS and when it is warm, I am not very good with cameras and especially video because the MS makes my hands shake. My daughter and I are big scrapbookers and my daughter desperately wants pictures of this event so she make a memory book! I do plan to take pictures, but I worry that I won't get many good ones if my hands are trembling.

What I’m asking is that if any of you are there waiting for the parade and happen to be there when Mt Baker Mountaineer Band marches by, would you consider taking some pictures (or video if you are motivated) and emailing me the raw images so that I can make scrapbooks and perhaps even piece together a video for her? I cannot tell you how much I would appreciate any help! This is such a huge big deal to us. Robyn is 17 and is and always will be a big kid when it comes to Disneyland. This is truly a dream come true for her; to march through Disneyland playing her saxophone! She says it's the two things she loves most....music and Disneyland.

Here’s a pic of the Mt Baker Band from 2003 (before my daughter was a member of the band). I just LOVE those kilts! You sure can't miss these kids when they march by you! :rotfl:

I would love for her to have pictures from different vantage points along the parade route. I would also like to take any images I receive and create discs for every kid in the band so they can all have copies! So if y'all can help me, you will make a lot of Mountaineer kids very happy! :worship:

Anyway, a big thanks to anybody who can help us out! :goodvibes

Bumping this as I cannot be there at that time as mom is fed at 6 pm. If I get a sitter like Calvin then I would gladly take pictures for you. You are a great mom and what a neat idea with the CD for the kids in band.

How exciting for your daughter and you to get to go to Disneyland with a band.. Unfortunately I won't be there that day (we go on the 15th) but I wanted to comment on the uniforms.. I love them. I went to a high school where our theme was Scotish and the entire band wore kilts. I was a Highland dancer so I had one too... Happy days and memories..

Have a great time and I am sure someone will be able to take photos for you.

I'll be with there with my family on that day. If we see the band with the kilts I'll snap a few pictures and send them to you.:)

Sorry we will not be there that day, I did want to comment about Kilts though,

Your kilt should be short enough to dance a jig
but long enough to cover your lucky charms.

Could you ask one of the DL photographers to take pix?

:confused3

Just a thought?

First,
Congratulations to your daughter & her band mates

You so totally Rock!

My mom tried to take pictures of me at my college graduation, but they all turned out fuzzy.
She was too excited to hold still.
:rotfl2:

How about a tripod?
then you can get a great video or some good pictures.

Maybe enlist the help of another band mom to get both pics and video?
Is the band leader willing to help make this happen for all the parents who can't be there??

Good luck & have a great visit :hippie:

I like the tripod idea! I was going to add that a tripod doesn't haven't to be very big. I have a tripod that is only about 6-8 inches tall and folds up. With a small tripod you would probably have to find something to put it on (maybe the top of a garbage can or a bench?) but it might be a good back-up idea for you that wouldn't take up very much room and wouldn't be too expensive.

Hope you guys have a fun time at DLR!

I don't know if they do this, but if you call ahead or go to town hall and aks if one of the photopass photographers can take pictures for you. Then you can just buy the CD? I think if you explain your disability they may accomidate you. It's at least worth a shot.

I will be there. I can do this for you :) Will send them to you when I return on April 18th.

Aww, thank you for your kind words! Please don't go out of your way to do this! Mom comes first! :goodvibes I appreciate that you will if you get a chance though!

Oh how fun! My daughter dances to; she does the highland fling. She says they may be doing it during the parade, which would be really fun!

I bet you loved being in a band that wore kilts. Aren't they just stunning uniforms?

Thank you, thank you, thank you so much! :worship: I'll give you my email addy when we get back! You are awesome, thanks!

Now that is a great idea....a chance to get nice professional photos! I'll see what I can do about that. Thanks for the idea!

Ahhhh, tripod! I hadn't thought of that but it is a great idea. I thought I read somewhere on this board months ago that tripods were no longer allowed, but perhaps they just mean the big professional ones! I did go buy one and I figure worst case scenario, they make me throw it out. No big deal, but certainly worth the chance! Thanks for the idea! :goodvibes

Yeah, the tripod I found is tiny! It fits in my messenger bag and doesn't even add much weight to it. I'm excited about trying it. I do get to practice at Knotts Berry Farm and Universal, so hopefully I'll get it all down by Disneyland! ;) Thank you for the idea! :goodvibes

I would love it if this were possible and absolutely want to try this!

Oh, thank you so much! I appreciate that a LOT! Wow, you're coming from a long distance! I hope you have a fantastic time and a very safe trip! :goodvibes

I managed to take several photos, I hope I got your daughter on them. I can email them to you if you want to PM me :)

Oh my gosh! I'm so excited! I only managed to get two pictures, they zoomed by so fast! I got them coming and then going towards the castle. It doesn't matter if my daughter is in it or not, after spending a week with these kids, they are all very special to me now. :goodvibes It was a wonderful and amazing thing to get to know so many of these young people. I knew it would be a wonderful trip, but I had no idea how rewarding it would be to do this.

Thank you so much for taking some pictures! I am eternally grateful. :goodvibes I'll PM you my email addy.

Here's the two pics I managed to get:

Made me feel like I was there...... This is so great that the DISBoards have such friendly and helpful people.:cool1:

Wow, TracyK, those are great photos. I just wanted to tell you how great I think it is that you did this for a fellow DISer. What a great way to add a little pixie dust to a trip after it is over!!

OMG! Tracy, those pictures are AMAZING! And yes, my daughter is in one of them as are many of the other kids I have come to know well. Thank you so much. I cannot express my appreciation enough. Robin is excited because now we have pics to scrapbook. I tried, but they moved so darned fast and I was so excited that I only got a few. You did a LOT better than I did! :goodvibes We are really happy!

Thanks again!

I've been lurking these boards for ages, getting great advice and tips. This thread made me register and post today. When I first read this post, I was hoping we would get to see the pictures. What a treat! TracyK, how kind and thoughtful of you. I am really impressed with the sense of community on this board.
