Are you faithful to your home resort?

I'm just curious. People will always say "buy where you want to stay" but I'm wondering how many owners actually repeatedly stay at the resort they purchased. I see a lot of threads about "the 7 month" reservation window. We bought at OKW just because we love it and honestly I don't think we'd stay anywhere else (unless I could get a savannah view...)

I own RIV and SSR right now..bought and sold other resorts over the years.

So, it’s hard to answer as I will stay RIV every trip but my SSR points are SAP to use at VGF when I can get it or BLt when I can’t.

We split stay each trip for this reason. I have tried all other resorts except OKW and no desire to stay there any longer now that RIV and VGF are it.

Next year I will add another 50 to 75 direct points at VGF to gain home resort advantage there if price is reasonable. If not, more RIV.

I've stayed at all of the WDW resorts with the exception of RIV. But we mostly stay at our home resorts. BWV for F&W. VGF for Christmas time or conferences. Poly for that once in a while couples trip. And AKV when I can snag a club level villa.

None of your options applied to me. While we mostly use other resorts ... we do, on occasion, use our home resort. (Somewhere between "never" and "every other trip." I'd guess our ratio is closer to one out of every seven reservations??)

We purchased SSR, pre-opening in early 2004, with intention of booking BWV for an annual tech conference. We used our "network" points successfully for that purpose until the conference moved elsewhere in ~2015. With add-ons in 2006 and 2007, we purchased more points than required for the conference and now enjoy the West Coast options (Grand Cal, Aulani) which opened after our final add-on.

FWIW, it took us 5 years before booking our first stay at SSR. The Treehouse Villas were too inviting to to ignore!!

My wife and I tried the various resorts we were interested in before we purchased. Since then, it's been BLT for every trip.

Likely at least 20 visits were at BWV, stayed OKW twice, once with rented points before we bought BWV. Have stayed twice at Poly so far, a couple times at BCV, a couple times at AKV (once with a rented reservation).

Never stayed at BLT, SSR, CCV, BRV or RIV and likely won’t for different reasons. So far BWV and Poly are the winners, mostly due the vibe and more importantly to the views we prefer and are able to specifically book.

We are long time OKW members. We have stayed at most of the resorts however we prefer to satay at OKW. I guess since it was the only one when we bought in and just maybe are use to it.

Frankly, I bought my first contract, resale, at OKW because I got the best deal there. I really wanted AKL, as I was dying to stay there, but it cost much more than OKW. I had never visited OKW, or any other resort other than SSR, when I bought. After I bought, I visited OKW. My first stay was at Jambo House, savanna view--my dream for almost 3 years. I then bought another contract with OKW.
I love OKW. I have stayed at almost every resort, but I miss OKW when I stay elsewhere, even at my favorite, Jambo House.

Great Question! We are moderately to mostly faithful. We’ve stayed at our home resorts of BLT and SSR the most. The only home resort we haven’t stayed is BRV. To be fair we’ve owned there less than a year and haven’t had opportunity. I’m not exactly sure if we will always keep BRV as a home resort, it was an impulse buy with fire sale pricing, but I do love to visit WL so we may keep it.
Other resorts we bounced around to:

• AKV to check out the Savannah view
• Poly to conserve points (5 people), and for new experience
• VB and HHI to check out the beach resorts

We intend to continue to bounce around occasionally for something new. But always come back to BLT and SSR the majority of trips.

I own points where I want to stay, and I also own points to stay wherever I can get in on short notice.

We were members for for roughly 10 years, and took 2-3 point trips per year. We never used our points for anything other than home resort. That said, we had four home resorts… VWL, VB, AKV, and VGC. We bought where we wanted to stay, and we did just that.

We did take additional cash trips, but those were mostly GF stays. There were no GFV at the time.

I should have mentioned that owning at OKW leaves me with a conundrum. I've stayed at the Poly, VGF, Riviera, etc. But I always have to ask: are those resorts worth such a large premium over the cost of my beloved OKW? I think Jambo House/Savanna view is definitely worth the premium. But with other resorts, other than a short stay, I'm not so sure.

I mentioned we stayed at Poly to conserve points one trip. That was because we had 5 people that trip and Poly had 5 person studios (BLT and SSR are 4 max). Even though the studios cost more points than BLT and SSR, it was a savings from having to get a 1 bedroom that trip when we were pinching points. Similar to OKW, for the extra points it was a studio upgrade (over BLT/SSR) with a split bathroom, and a 5th bed.

Enjoyable to read your responses! I know there are some owners who have never stayed at their home resort. I think most peeps enjoy the variety (including us). Our very first trip was a split stay including one of our home resorts (Riviera) and BLT (which always makes me crave bacon). Certainly plusses and minuses to every property and anticipate we'll stay everywhere eventually over time. But I sure do love our two home resorts (Riviera and Grand Cal)!

We probably stay at our home resort (AKV) 1 out of 3 trips. We do love it there and would be quite happy only ever staying there but we enjoy trying different resorts. We now have a new home resort that we will likely not stay at much (BLT) but will give it a try next year and see what we think this time in a larger room.

I own at all the resorts I want to own (except RIV) I usually use my points at my resorts, but I do make some changes in the 7 month window. Also make some last minute plans with any extra points (one reason why RIV resale will not work for me). We have stayed at all resorts on property except OKW - will stay there at some point. But mostly stay at our home resorts, and use my points at one home resort for another home in seven month window

We own at BWV and BRV- haven't stayed at BRV yet and probably won't until the refurb is done (We have owned for only 4 years) We would like to try all the resorts so that is our usual goal each trip but if we are trying to save points we will stay at BWV in a standard view and be perfectly content!

On site we don’t own at RIV, Poly and OKW. So, usually we are at a home resort.
