We own at BLT. We bought there specifically for the walk to MK, the convenience of the monorail for resort dining and the extra bathroom in the 1BR and up. We do stay there often because of these reasons.

Other than BLT, our next most frequent resort is Kidani (again, for the extra bath). We have also enjoyed Jambo, Poly, GF, and OKW. We tried SS but didn’t care for it. OKW is fine, but not a top favorite.

It depends on the contract. So having a hard time choosing based on the options.
  • VGC - Those points are used at VGC and only VGC. I do not have too many and it is so hard to get in at VGC so I reserve these only for my VGC visits.
  • SSR - Owned since 2007 and I have stayed at SSR exactly zero times. The ultimate SAP contract. I have used them at AKV, BWV, BCV, BLT, Poly, BRV.
  • AKV - I have been maybe 50/50 (maybe more like 40/60) using them at AKV. Depends what I want to do on how I use them.

Being an owner from the opening of OKW, I strayed away a couple of times just to check out a couple of other spots, but they weren't as nice as OKW. OKW is a great resort. It has great staff in the store and Olivia's. The rooms are large and overlook the golf course. Unfortunately, I sold OKW within the last year.

I still own at BLT and VGF and always stay at those resorts with their convenience to MK, the monorail to EPCOT, and the fine restaurants around the monorail loop. I have no desire to stay anywhere but at those locations.

Definitely #3. I want to stay at every resort eventually, but we're taking our time about it. I tend to miss our home resort if we don't go back every other time or so. A few have been one and done. Only one other has captured my heart and that is most likely where we will add on at some point.

We stay at our home resort ~5x/year, one year on, one year off to make the points budget/annual passes work, then every 3-4 years we'll go to Florida. Even when I go there, I need to reserve at 11 months because I'm a planner, so I usually transfer in the amount of BCV points that I need, because after trying the majority of the Florida resorts, we have chosen BCV as our home--away-from-home-resort but haven't seen prices on contracts I'm willing to pull the trigger on since 2012. So that's like 8% of time we stray?

We own at AKV and CCV so it’s kind of hard not to stay at either. They are both amazing! We did try BCV last yr but I have to admit, other than the proximity to EP and HS, I’m not a fan.

We own at BLT, BWV and now the Poly. We have stayed at our home resorts several times (well one for Poly because we just bought it), and used points to venture off a bit as well. I think we will get back to alternating between BLT and BWV annually with the Poly being used for shorter trips like MK parties or EP festivals in between. We have not stayed at BLT in a bit so that will be a definite for next year.

Bought where we wanted to stay at BLT and always stay there. The only time we didn't we had some spare points and used them at SSR on a trip we planned only 4 months in advance. SSR was a very nice resort and we enjoyed it.

I do both. I also rent my DVC point that I don't use some years.

Originally, purchased enough points for a two bedroom at SSR for one week per year. I then added points so that I could stay in a two bed room at SSR for 9 days and a studio for 3 to 4 days. Those studios were usually at BC or BW

Things changed DVC built BLT we added points there. that was fun too. But the kids wanted to try VWL so we did.

Then we did some spilt stays. one trip we went for 14 days. we stayed at WL, BLT, my mother and the kids went to SSR, my wife and I went to BW two days early then we all spent the last 4 days at BW together.

None of that was planned, but it was what happened to be available when the 7 month window opened. I think we tried to waitlist but were never able to make it all at one resort. Spilt stays can be fun or a nightmare... In this case tit was fun.

I have also had trip were I was able to book the entire stay at a non home resort. I feel like it is easier when not looking for a two bedroom.

Recently I added points at RR I'm sure at some point we will use those points to stay somewhere other than RR. but for a few years I know we will be staying to learn and enjoy the new resort.

I think what is most important here is what do you want to do.

My GF think the poly is the greatest resort every. se has 75 points and I think it gets her 4 nights in a studio with her and her 3 kids... When we went last I would not stay there.....To me It felt like a hotel room, and was way to small for all of us.

On the other hand I want to do nine nights in a 2 bedroom at RR she think that is a waste of points and to much space...

So what ever works for you is what is best for you. No one else should be telling you what is the right way to spend your vacation.

If you want to try other resorts, what I have found works the best is book the stay you want at your home resort, then at the 7 month window book or wait list the other resort. result may vary, I would not plan on this working for a couple of years but I would still try.

We own HH and VB. HH was the less expensive option at the time. VB was a special discount add-on. We've only stayed at HH 2 nights on the way home from a cruise. Never stayed at VB. We are very flexible and there have always been 2 bedrooms available for my family of 6 (when my kids were younger) at WDW and DL.

Before we purchased we tried a stay at OKW. We eventually bought at Boulder Creek and Beach club. We have stayed at most other resorts, including HH and VB. Next week will be out first time at the Grand Floridian and I am very excited!!! In October our waitlist came through for CC.
We always do go back to Boulder Creek. It is the resort that make us feel most like “home”. DH loves the Wilderness Lodge atmosphere. Cannot wait for the refurb of the villas. Since we own at resorts that are close enough to MK,EP and HS we pick the home resort that will fit into our plans.

We definitely bought the places we were in love with being. We do split stays, so end up partially "at home" and a couple days somewhere new. The Poly somehow became home base so everyone is happier if we tag home every trip.

That's funny to me because it was NOT our favorite before buying DVC, our previous was a tie of Contemporary and Yacht club, but we needed 5 person rooms so home had to be elsewhere. The first time I took my husband to the Poly we bought points before we left.

We will be taking our 2nd trip as owners next week and already have our third scheduled. We have yet to stay at our home resort (SSR) and are doing/have done split stays for all 3 trips. There is a method to this madness. We have 2 elementary aged DS, and are using this time to go twice per year and experience all of the different DVC WDW properties. Once they are beyond elementary age, we will be down to annual trips and out of the studio category. By then we should have experienced all of the properties (expect RIV) and be able to book 1BR based on personal experience at the resorts.

I like variety and don’t intend to make every vacation the same to help create distinct memories.
The renovations were a nice excuse to stay home at SSR. We might have to try a few nights at Riviera, and then there’s the new VGF villas, and it’s been a while since we stayed at AKL.

we own at OKW and like the large room size and the quiet feel of the resort. have also stayed at BC,BWV and VB which were all great. most stays at OKW though

I only own SSR and bought it before AKV went on sale. I wish I owned at AKV but I am usually successful at booking there at the 7 month window. My goal is to eventually stay at all of the DVC resorts at least once so I jump around each trip. I do stay at SSR sometimes and usually I will end up there on a trip with a split resort stay. For example, I will stay three nights SSR my next trip and five nights at AKV. I like to be able to walk over to Disney Springs. I've stayed at BW, Bay Towers, WLV, and OKW so I still have quite a few to go before I've stayed at them all. I've also visited Vero Beach, Hilton Head and Grand Californian.
