Well - let’s just say I took the ‘Buy Where You Want to Stay’ logic a bit too much to heart - I own VGF, OKW, SS, BC, BLT, VWL and HHI home resorts. I have stayed at AK savanna and a bunch at BWV - but prefer all my home resorts. I am probably going to swap my OKW points for more VGF and BC - not because I don’t live the resort - cause I love it! - but can’t do stairs anymore and don’t like ground floor and elevator buildings are not guaranteed.

Bought SSR in 2004 and enjoyed our first "Welcome Home" stay that summer. We never got back to our home resort till this past May... 17 years later. (And, wow do we love SSR. The reno + quick jaunt to lovely DS was just AMAZING.) No rhyme or reason to the 17 year gap. Depended on so many factors: how many people we were traveling with (and if we needed a third bathroom in the 2bdr villa), what we were trying to accomplish during the trip, etc. During the first few years, we exchanged our pts through the concierge program and stayed at YC, GF, AKL Concierge, etc. BEFORE some of these deluxe resorts got DVC additions. It's actually pretty incredible how far DVC has come in the past 17 years. We enjoyed Aulani in Feb '19 right before everything shut down. We've also used pts for Concierge Collection hotels/resorts like Fairmont SF, Mandarin DC, Keystone, CO etc.

We own at Poly and BLT. We enjoy staying at our home resorts but do like to sleep around to experience what other resorts are like. We always book at our home resort at 11 months and see if there is availability somewhere else that we will like to try. We would stay at Poly more often but with a toddler, I like the space of a one bedroom right now. Once he's a bit older, we will probably go back to staying at the Poly more often.

I’ve owned at BWV since 1999, I’d guess 50% of my stays are there, usually in the fall. I typically stay at another resort for spring trips. I’ve stayed at every resort but SSR and technically CC (stayed there as WL). I occasionally throw in an “extra” stay at non-DVC, last fall was CBR (rescheduled too late to stay DVC).

Thanx Bro..! Hopefully it helps…wuz reading a post a couple months ago and they said “USO” in there. I’m former military and wuz like “there’s a USO in MCO” ? Then after a few minutes the Hamster finally ran faster and I wuz like “Oh, Universal Studios Orlando”…duh. Hopefully the Secret Decoder Ring helps me out !

Should of been more choices. I’m faithful to Boardwalk but not faithful to ssr and California

BLT (which always makes me crave bacon)

We own there and also at the Vegan Gluten Free. Also at RIV (no food acronym there). We are mostly home resort people, splitting between MK/AK visits (staying at BLT or VGF) with our EP/HS days when we are staying at RIV. That said, we have tried AKV, BWV, BCV in addition to our home resorts, we had a stay at VGC planned for April 2020 (oops), and hope to get to AUL someday. Last summer we had CCV booked but then ended up canceling because of Covid. Would still like to try: CCV, Poly, AUL, VGC. Poly is hard because we tend to like 1br and larger. Not terribly interested in HHI, VB, SSR or OKW.

We bought OKW resale in 2008...only stayed there once in 2009....so I put 'never stay at home resort.'. We've had great success using those pts at the other resorts at 7 mths and have enjoyed staying at a variety of places. BWV is our favorite though. We did buy a second small contract at BWV in 2014 for the 11 mth booking perk. 80% of the time we use that contract for BWV.

I am, but only because I am lazy. I always book my home 11 months out to secure my dates and I have intentions of switching at 7 months, but then I always forget to. However, I love my home resort and I agree with buy where you wouldn’t mind staying. I like to stay all over, really the only two I don’t want to stay at are OKW and SSR. I am bored of my one home resort now since my last 4 trips have been there. I also think a lot is available at 7 months or usually a waitlist comes through for me

Mostly stay at home resorts VGF and CCV. Used my home points to stay at Riviera last year right after the parks re-opening and now have 8 night stay at Riviera in September. Probably will switch back to staying primarily at my home resorts after this. I wanted to try out Riviera and doubt that SV will be available very often after we hopefully get back to normal.

We own BWV and AKV because we love them. We have stayed at every other DVC resort at one timer or another but I always fall back on my two home resorts. I usually book them in the 11-month window with hard to get units like standard and Boardwalk views at BWV and Club and value views at AKV. I have no interest in giving up my hard won club room for a studio elsewhere.

We own where we love to stay: BCV, CCV, BLT, and VGC. We’ve tried BWV a few times (husband now says never again), Poly (one and done), and we don’t have a desire to stay anywhere else at WDW.

The only non-home we love to use points at is Aulani. We are very local to DLR, so our VGC points were primarily for the now seemingly defunct runDisney races (rip). 😢 We will normally take a few two night stays at VGC throughout the year, and then very happily use the leftover points at Aulani!😅 We thankfully got our VGC points cheap, so we’re fine using them to stay elsewhere. It’s tempting to sell and make a ton of money off those contracts, but no one in our family can handle the thought. 😆

Oops, ETA: we’ve stayed at Kidani in a 1 bedroom before and loved it, but I don’t think we’ll end up at AKV again unless we do a huge split stay.

The majority of our DVC trips have been to our home resort - BWV. In twenty years we've used our points to stay one night a BRV, five nights at VAKL, five nights at BCV and five nights at HHI.

By the way, over the years when we've asked this question - sometimes with polls that are more granular - the not surprising result comes out.

If you paid a premium for your points (i.e. you bought BCV resale over SSR), you are more likely to take the majority of your trips at your home resort. Which of course makes sense - no one pays a 10% point premium not to use that resort frequently.

If you bought early - when there were only a handful of DVC resorts - you tend to stay at your home resort (I suspect there are three drivers - the first five on property resorts have low point structures - its hard for those of us who own those resorts to justify more points per night, if you bought when there were only a few choices, you bought with the expectation that those choices would fit your needs - there wasn't a "look at all the places we can stay" factor in your purchase decision, and those of us who bought 20 years ago are older and old people are often creatures of habit)
