Are walk-ins unheard of now?

I haven't been to Disney in quite a few years. With the new ADR system, is it impossible to just walk up to a restaurant now and get seated in a reasonable timeframe? My group booked only a couple months in advance and I'm finding it very hard to secure ADRs for early November. There are 8 of us too, which is just making it that much harder.

I hate to be the one to say it, but I think you will have a very hard time finding a table for 8 as a walk up any time of the year with the ADR system. And in November there will be a lot of folks who booked free dining packages, so the restaurants tend to be even busier. if you want to have table service meals during your trip, I think you'll need to book in advance. you might find it easier to find space for your group at off times and at restaurants outside of the parks. you might also want to start following the November cancelation thread--some folks have posted ADRs for larger groups lately, so you
might get lucky.

Thanks for your help. I figured TS would be impossible without an ADR, but I think others in my group don't want to believe it. I don't really care too much about having table service meals, but my MIL and FIL bought everyone the dining package so that's what we're doing. Off times might get a little tricky with an infant and preschooler, but I guess we will just have to make it work.

If you have the dining plan I think you will need to make ADRs to get full use of your table service credits. While you might luck out on a walk up, I doubt it would be enough times to use all of your credits. We are a party of 9 going in mid November. Some of the restaurants I wanted were not even bookable for me at 180 days. However, searching consistently and using WDW tools I have been able to get almost everything I want. If you aren't familiar with the ADR search tools they should definitely help for your party. I use WDW Tools, but lots of others on here really like Dining Buddy or Scout.

I just starting checking out WDW Tools, which looks like it will come in handy. My husband is a programmer, so he has been joking that he is going to create his own version of Dining Buddy to find us reservations
