Are walk-ins possible?

I made an ADR for this Friday at Chef Mickey's at 11:10 am. After talking to DH he wants to eat earlier than that. I called Disey Dining every day this week and it is not available. What are the chances that we show up at 8 am and get our party of 4 seated? Do they leave a certain number of walk-in tables open?

Honestly if they have no ADRs, walk-ins seem unlikely. I do not believe they hold tables specifically for walk-ins. There seems to be some varying info about whether if they have a cancellation they will take walk-ins in their place. People seem to have better luck making an ADR (even if it is just 5 minutes before) than walking in when a restaurant is full.

I guess it can't hurt to try, but I'd feel terrible if you got your whole family out there at 8:00 and they couldn't take you. Maybe someone else will have more advice.

I dont think they leave tables open:rolleyes1 That doesnt mean you wont get lucky. keep trying for that ADR:wizard:

Thanks for the replies. Could the CM really turn a pregnant woman away with her two little angels? :rolleyes1 I will keep calling but amhoping someone has a positive experience to share about this.

When we were there we did have an ADR for Tues of our trip. Well Sun morning we walk down to the Concourse Steakhouse for breakfast at 7:15 or so. Well DH noticed Chef Mickey was empty so while we waited (didnt want the kids to get excitied if it didnt work out) DH ran over to see. Well they let us and another family go right in. I dont know if this was a freak or just because it was so early. Now this was easy for us bc we were staying in that hotel. But we did wind up cancelling our ADR for Tues since we could cross that off our to do list and get going earlier that day.

Good luck keep trying!

No ADR'S in December tabel for 5 and no problem at 9 or so... we did call but they were booked all week as well... most places worked for us with no ADR. That is just our experience. It seems for small groups -4 or less- you do not have much of a problem but I would not count on this durning peak season..... and you need to be flexable.. I can tell you some of the places we made ADR's for that we could only get for a specific time as the rest of the times were booked.. there were walk ups that got seated as fast as we did

If you show up at 7:15 you will have a much better chance than showing up at 8. When we ate breakfast at the Concourse Steakhouse we were there at 7:30, Chef Mickey's wasn't full and there was no line between 7:30 and about 7:50. By 8 it was packed.

If you can't get in CM you should have no problem eating at the Concourse Steakhouse at 7:30.

Once we went to Le Cellier and asked if it would be possible to get a table. They said no, they were not accepting walk-ins. So I asked if I could make an ADR, they said no problem. We were seated 45 minutes later.

If you are staying on-site, check with your hotels guest services about making ADR's. Also, if the restaurant you want to eat at is in a park, check with their guest servives that day. We arrived at Disney on our last trip without making any ADR's for lunch. So we would go to guest services and had no problems getting in to our desired restaurants.

In December 2004 my family and I went to the Concourse Steakhouse for dinner without any ADR's and we were told it would be about a 20-25 minute wait. Since we were staying at the Contemporary if we had to wait no big deal because we were in no rush to go somewhere else, or needed a Disney Transport Bus back to another Resort. However we only ended up waiting 5 minutes, so that was a nice surprise.

Also on an earlier trip we even walked into Chef Mickey's for dinner. That time we waited about 30-40 minutes, but again we were staying at the Contemporary so we were not in a rush to be somewhere else.

At Epcot, the old standby walk-in is Germany...good food, fun band, not an arm and a leg.....and the beer ain't bad either!!!

Enjoy...Ted

I looked at the FAQs and cannot find the answer. What does "ADR," which everyone refers to, stand for?

Yes. If a person does not have a reservation, or are way in advance of their reservation time, there is no reason for a woman and her children to be given preference over anybody who does have proper reservations.

That sounds fair because WDW does not give special treatment to other guests because one of them maybe pregnant or because of other reasons. I can see why you think of mentioning it, however in the end it's not fair for those who have an ADR scheduled before your ADR.

A lot of it depends on when you are visiting, both in terms of time of year and time of day. If you want to do a walk in, you should try to be at the restaurant when they first open for your best opportunity. Also, you have a better chance during the off season than during summer, holidays, and free dining. I would keep calling, because people cancel all the time and you may get it all situated before the trip.
