DH and I enjoyed The Plaza two weeks ago. And there is ICE CREAM! We didn't have any - too stuffed but I enjoyed looking at the shakes ... etc ... others had.
Take a look at my dining report (link below) if you want to see the huge burgers. My report is not that large and the pics of the Plaza are on the first page I think.
This would be good if you weren't really wanting to spend the time at a character buffet. I would think those are good too though I have never been there.
Counter service picks - others have mentioned - Columbia Harbor House is good.
We ALWAYS head to Gasparilla's at the GF for lunch......its a good break from the MK crowds and the food is much better! The setting is peaceful and interesting.....and you can take a boat back to the MK when you are ready to return!
Didn't eat at the MK at any point on this trip but wanted to toss in a vote for Kona. Stayed at the Poly and had breakfast AND dinner there. The Tonga Toast speaks for itself but the dinner was very good as well. I'm sure there's some equally delicious lunch specialities.
Liberty Tree Tavern is the best sit down restaurant in MK. If you want CS, go with either Pecos Bill's or Columbia Harbour House.
If you're willing to go out of the MK, try Narcoossee's at the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. It is our absolute favorite TS on property and just a wonderful dinner.
The best counter service in all the World is Cosmic Ray's in MK. The ribs, chicken, burgers, wraps are all good. There are 3 different counters and acres of seating, but you want to sit in the lounge and enjoy the entertainment of Sunny Eclipse.
