Are the resort jacuzzis safe?

Hmmm, is anyone really getting busy in them at Disney? Haven't seen that so far... :bride: :groom:

Someone posted maybe six months ago about seeing a couple having adult fun in one late one evening at the AKL. Security was called and the hot tub was closed the next day. I wonder why?

I've used them and never gotten any kind of problem.

I am allergic to pretty much everything too, so if there was something alive in that water, it would have had an effect on me.

I will admit that seeing another couple get busy in a hottub is not appealling. but come on, fess up, nobody around, the night is dark, your significant other is there with you, haven't you at least thought about it???? Maybe someone should start a poll on this.

I can tell you that I spent six nights at AKL in July and every morning I would take a walk around the resort at about 6am. Each morning when I would walk by the hot tub they would be drained and there were CM's there cleaning it and the area along with putting in new chemicals. My point is that the hot tubs at Disney are perfectly clean and safe. There is a difference between those you should avoid and those that are fine, and Disney's are just fine.

I've never done this. Aren't the Disney hot tubs too public for anyone to do this at all? I guess there IS one at AKL that is fairly shrouded...that's the only one that would not be competely out in the open that I can picture right now....

The hot tub at the Grand Floridian is about as public as you can get

Hmmm, nothing says lovin' like a bunch of teens up late in the pool 10 feet away from you and the sounds (and smells) of giraffes in the savanahh...and drunk people coming back from PI...

ah...

I personally like the jetted tubs at the DVC resorts. Also, you can bring your own soaking salts and just sit and relax in the tub.

Good idea about the bath salts...I remember learning about the effects of bubble bath and jetted tubs in a bed and breakfast a long time back....well, the bubbles take over the bathroom if you are not careful :rotfl2:

On previous topics...I guess I am naive but I certainly didn't think there were any kids (or for goodness sakes adults) who failed to find a restroom while spending a day in the pool and/or jacuzzi :confused3

I am somewhat less surprised about the PDA but they just all seem way to public for the majority. :sunny:

No obsessions or phobias here, just wondering what the facts are. In the past I've done things obliviously (like a Tab anyone?? Maybe a stint at a tanning booth? :) ) and then heard later it was harmful. I was just wondering if there was any reason to avoid a public jacuzzi and invest in an in-room one instead. Sounds like a draw so far... :confused3

HaHa :rotfl2: love the Tab reference... Its all my mother will drink, we actually have to bring a case on every vacation!! :rotfl: She also loves hot tubs....
She doesn't have cancer from sacchrin in Tab, nor has she ever gotten itchy or ill from a public hot tub...
If your worried about just dont go... DUH :earboy2:

Yah, Bring on the Tab... and I remember when it was in 10 oz glass bottles.

Probably you are going to be as safe at Disney as any place using a hot tub. Fortunately, with anything chlorinated you don't have to worry about things much worse than germs. When we were there just about a week ago, they had some of the Gold Coast beaches shut for shark sightings.

I use bubble bath in my jetted tub at home.

The key is to not add the bubble bath until you have finished filling the tub, and then to use about as much as you would in a regular tub for the much larger garden tub.

Also, after finishing the bath you must run a jet cleaner or automatic dishwasher soap through the tub to clean the jets or they will clog.

Thanks for the info, Anne! :wizard:

And another tip. Make sure the water level is above the jets when you activate them. Otherwise, you'll have a shower, too. Don't ask me how I know this

Mine won't even work until the water is at jet level. If it's "just" to that point, yes, you can have a "shower" effect, but simply swiveling the jets downward alleviates taht issue :)

Yes, I have had the shower effect! :rotfl2: I'll remember all this when I finally decide to buy DVC and have those tubs. I'll see what codes come out and see if what the diff would be to get RPC with a jetted tub or not.

OK, I need to get going on my trip or I am going to miss the shuttle to the airport :goodvibes Off to Hawaii (and possibly some resort jacuzzis....)

Warm water makes kids pea. Heck, makes some adults pea. That is just the way it is. I am certain that all the chemicals will kill anything that that produces, now you just have to get over the fact that you are basically soaking in nonlethal peawater...Have fun. By the way, I love hottubs and never hesitate to go in them.

:rotfl2: Too funny! Unfortunately there are those that don't mind peeing in their bathing suits, adult and kids. What probably makes it easier for the adults is the beer they are drinking while soaking in the germ pool! :earseek:
