Are the Fort's Days Numbered?

Hey Mike I love the muscket mickey in your siggy.... LOL PEOPLE DO LIKE ME< PEOPLE DO LIKE ME, my therapist said I should say that 10 times a day....

When it finally comes down to the end we will all know for sure. I am sure Orange County would love the tax base there. Disney had a hard leson learned at Celebration.

I grabbed the Mickey that was in the photoshop file that AuburnJen had posted and put it in the image that you posted.

Jen, did you recolor his feet??? Cool

But there is one thing disney is not short on, acreage. Look around when you are there, there is open land everywhere. why tear down a campground to put up a hotel, just put the hotel somewhere else, and collect the profits from both.
Lake Access?

Actually, if you read the article posted when I started this thread. Disney wants to de-annex the property from RCID back to Orange county and therefore would no longer have that control over the property.
That is probably more because they don't want the new owners to have voting rights in the RCID.

I don't think it will go anywhere soon (and I hope it doesn't) but sometine in the distant future I wouldn't be suprised to see them decide to send it to a secluded corner of the property. In the big scheme it doesn't cost that much to move the campground when they can use the desireable lakefront property with a possable MK view for a high end resort. I'm sure the lake is the main reason the new neighbor wanted that property and they probably paid a VERY high price for it.

I don't think you'll see them get rid of it, it is only increasing in attendance, and it's a place where they can sometimes get 3 or 4 month commitments, which you don't see at very many other resorts. Not to mention the pretty much delux e resort rates they get with the Cabins.

I doubt you'll be able to see them, or they'll be able to see you. I think most of the area between the two resorts will stay mainly wilderness, as a buffer. It's pretty woody already over on that side, so it won't be too hard to undertake.

As others have said, the Fort just makes too much money (at least in our opinions) for them to want to get rid of it. Not to mention all the crossover money they get for the Hoop Dee Doo (still one of, if not the, most popular dinner shows in all of Disney).

Yea, I definitely think it's here to stay. Then again, did we ever think we would see River Country close???

Actually Four Seasons may be the reason the Fort is getting an upgrade. Things were getting pretty shabby looking in some places, and to make sure they stayed happy is why the upgrades are occurring. Freshening everything up, cleaning the canals, making it easier for the high dollar big rigs to park, etc.

However, I honestly just wish they would bulldoze River Country in. It's pretty obvious it's not reopening. It looks pretty bad, and even though it's locked up, a partially filled mosquito ridden unfiltered pool area is an accident and a lawsuit waiting to happen.
