Are DVC "Perks" Really DVC Perks at All?

It might also be that they are on the same page, but there's a workforce/training problem. When I was there last, there were more CMs in training than I've ever seen before. People training to drive busses, ticket sales, guest relations, ride operators, etc etc.

I don't have the actual work numbers for Disney but it wouldn't surprise me if they didn't get as many people back to work as anticipated and now they're rushing through to train new staff...staff that might not be completely familiar with the rules.

It may very well be that it’s training and so many new employees. But, there would be very simple steps to take on both sides to stop it from happening.

DVC can add the language to the digital card, and the ticketing division sends out clarifying emails and puts up signs in the ticket booths that say “DVC owners need a blue card, not white”

The fact that we are a week in and still getting inconsistencies is strange IMO.

In theory they could have the member number be inputted and checked against a database and remove the cast member discretion from the equation. Of course with Disney IT that probably means a library card would become valid for perks but that's their problem.

Yes, but if they did , resale would have more value.

I think we all know that. Or at least what you seem to think.

In the same breath, I think the resale market is a truer reflection of market value relative to what it is. A timeshare real estate expiring lease at WDW (Or, related to Disney as is the case with off-site properties, of course.). I will never be able to prove it in reverse, but I suspect that market value wouldn't even see an inflection on the resale market if there were no "blue card/white card" ownerships. I do remember during various evolutions on the way to where we are now (there were 2 or 3 different flavors that got us to where we are now), there was really no noticeable effect on the resale market. At least none observed by me. The resale market is much more driven almost exclusively by economic conditions and seems to care very little about 10 cent temporary DVC "perks."

I should have said more value for some people. I think I am happy with my purchase , if I can get to use it ! Trip plan for 2022.

The perk I've gotten from DVC is that I've been able to take many wonderful vacations at WDW over the last two decades, with more to come. I've made many wonderful memories and plan on making more. I've enjoyed extras when DVC has provided them but my only true expectation is the ability to book accommodations with my points.
I've been able to enjoy this destination more times than 99.9% of the people in the world will likely be able to. I am quite fortunate and am thankful for it every day.

i dont think this is a loop hole as theu would have closed it by now...

You new here? Lol

I laugh because Disney is terribly slow at changing anything including work arounds. It's just forbidden to talk about work arounds on this forum and others.

Getting pissed off because somebody bought something for the same price that I did because they saved money on the price of their home is illogical.

Well except here is the thing if the HOA stated only certain homes had access to the pool that you paid extra for but then everyone was let in wouldn't that make you upset?

I feel there is some potentially tricky situations with how the language seems to be laid out on their site. They have now been stating for over a year only blue card members could buy APs and that language still exists.

Yes parks can do what they want but it's a sticky situation where something needs to give either by changing language on the DVC site or Parks changing to checking for blue cards.

We will see what happens long term just happy the direct points I purchased at RIV were $155 and not $205 otherwise I would be a little ticked off.

We bought RR at $180 but honestly would have been more interested in Polynesian as our home but we couldn’t justify the direct price. Disney/DVC/parks/whoever, (I don’t care who tbh, TWDC to me) told us if you want AP discounts, you need direct, so we did. If we could be white card holders for an AP discount, we would have gotten Polynesian resale for about $130-140 at the time. So we’ve essentially paid a $50pp premium and higher annual dues for….one round of Gold APs. If all dvc gets AP discounts then say so, don’t keep it an open secret, but I’d also like the membership extras to be beefed up somehow. Include G+ and/or MM with the AP, I don’t know, get creative. I don’t care who’s budget it comes from, or what cross division deals need to be done, just do it.

Don’t tell me the rules and fail to follow them yourselves. Thats not what a “great” company does.

The original graphic I reposted in another thread made no distinguishment between types of DVC members. It simply said FL residents and DVC members. That was from announcement day.
I just got our FL res. ap. it has nothing to do with DVC. I was told, The biggest problem with no dvc perks ( to speak of) any more is Not enough DVC members complain to the right place, and even worse, not enough people find information of the past perks until after they buy. so, until DVC members stop going, and stop buying, nothing will change. and as always, ALL dvc decisions are made out of CA. so writing anyone here, in FL. does next to nothing.

would you still consider this good if you'd paid $180 bucks a point and knew in 1996 we paid $40 bucks a point, home of Vero which included comped passes for all on reservation until 2001/dec. We lived in FL. if we went in low times, we easily got equal to 3wks . so we went for 4-5 days at a time, never went on Fri. or Sat. with exception of monthly dues, we went for free for 6 yrs. 20% off some places 15% off others. and special days at some resorts where you got a member discount that was not pennies off. I think a couple places had that not to long ago. I have given up trying to keep track, and just ask everywhere I spend money.
WE got a discount on boo bash tickets and other parties, that were quite good, and they had days all the way through! not Halloween dates ending in Sept.! I mean, Come On! Then I found out, ( get this ), had I bought boo bash tickets at another discount ticket site, they would have been about $1 cheaper than DVC discount, now that Pi44ed me right off. LOL.
So now, we moved back and live within 30 min.of WDW so we bought the cheapest AP, (as we never go on crowded times anyway), and unless we have a bunch going, we stay home , we will use our points to travel, or go and stay a day or two during xmas , before it gets packed. We will not be going to xmas party at those prices!

Well good thing the previous leadership was let go then or should I say moved.

If you complain to the sales teams at WDW, on the phone to MS, or in email to MS then that should also easily make its way up to leadership. If not then sure they might continue with some momentum for a bit but its only going to hurt the business long term so they will see it in the numbers.

I know a couple people on here who always disagree but more and more buyers of DVC will check online before buying. So over time between no real hook for a new buyer and resale being a strong alternative it will errod the numbers.

This is also why I was so vocal about how APs are being sold. If its for anyone than DVC needs to update the messaging and seperate it from the direct only perks. Example they are really at the end of where they can continue to advertise moonlight magic and not actually hold the event. So many people get distracted though by what Parks can do or get distracted by "it must be you are upset because you have a blue card" when in reality its about getting truthful information out there.

I was thinking about Moonlight Magic the other day. It’s been 18 months and no whiff of a return, however there are Halloween parties, Christmas parties, early magic hours and late magic hours. At this point to me, it seems like it’s now a retired extra and no longer postponed.

The only thing I can think of is like Dining Plan they are simply waiting until closer to the end of the year to announce the 2022 offering. I would agree it could be held but they simply are choosing not to.

Honestly I would be okay if they did an extra evening magic for DVC guests 1 time a week. Possibly do a Tuesday or Thursday at Hollywood Studios which would be a great addition to the MK/EPCOT hours already being run.

In 2019, the dates came out in November for 2020…so, I am hoping we may see something announced before the end of the year, if they are returning…now that the parties are back.

If we get nothing in the next few months for 2022, then I agree it is a bad sign of its return.

Next the “Membership Extras” ads are gonna read something like “We would like to Welcome You Home with Complimentary ultra-filtered , fresh spring water infused with organic produce and flowers. *for Members who purchase a minimum number of points direct from Disney Vacation Club.
“Others” >Insert stink eye Mickey pic (and you know who you are) may access the completely opaque/rusty swamp water Florida is known for from pool hoses between 11 AM and 3 PM MON-W, 2-4 THURS & FRI. Closed weekends and Holidays *Please check hose for snakes & bugs before dispensing*”

Well the After Hours parties are just money makers. Moonlight Magic is spending money. DVC sales numbers are down. They seem to be picking up, so they may return soon. Let’s not forget. These events cost a lot of money probably in the millions of dollars per event. They are renting the park for hours and they provided a free quick service meal.

I doubt it costs millions per event, remember celebrities have rented out the parks for a few hours for birthday celebrations and such, and with limited attendance, they can operate on a skeleton crew.

Cost has no consideration as to whether it’s a current membership extra. It’s not like DVC says if we sell a million points we’ll throw a party.

If it’s too expensive, it should be removed.

My point was more along the lines of it doesn’t seem to be staffing or Covid reasons/protocols anymore because other parties are back. So where is MM? If it’s gone, say so. If it’s not, let’s have a party.

TOTW is still on there, and I doubt we will see that again. TOW and MM cost money, and DVC ain't spending. Not even giving a small discount on the Incredipass is an obvious example. Throwing $50 at it would have at least acted like they cared about the Blue Card.

There's no need to bring any of this back because they can market Blue Card with all this stuff and then say that they don't have to do any of it.
