Just wondering if bugs (specifically mosquitos!) are a problem in October!

We are headed down in 2 weeks, and I am going through my packing list tonight!

Thanks! :goodvibes::goodvibes:

When we went years ago, I don't remember any bugs. It was warm/coolish. Overall, pretty good weather. Had to bring out sweaters at night, but it might have changed since then, but I don't think so. We like Orlando's October weather.

Hoped I helped!

I wouldn't imagine Mosquitoes would be a problem anywhere during October. They are usually gone by then.

I've never been in October, but I vaguely remember getting bitten when we went in May.

We were there 2 years ago in Oct---it was extremely hot. However, I am a mosquito magnet and did not get bitten once.

It's still in the mid-80s during the day in October. There are actually very few times in the year when mosquitoes are not out in Central Florida.

OP, I got bit by a mosquito last night at Magic Kingdom. Of course, they love me and find me no matter where I am.

They banned most mosquito types from property several years ago -you should have no problem at all.

The love bugs were bad last october around this time.

There were mosquitos in Epcot on Tuesday, my DD suffered 3 bites within 20 minutes at the Kidcot area in "Canada"...well, we're used to them in Canada anyway :rotfl2:

There were some lovebugs floating around at POP on Saturday Sept 24th, not too bad though, no swarms, and they quickly tapered off, just saw a few each day during the whole of the rest of last week

Love bugs can be bad in October,,, were HORRIFIC 2 years ago,,but I have to say it was only at The Animal Kingdom... once we left there we never saw another one. They are kind of creepy.. Being from the NorthEast, I had never seen them before and didnt know what they were....

If you're at the "It's Tough to Be a Bug" attraction in AK, then yes. Bugs are a problem in October, November, December.....etc, etc.

Otherwise, no. Bugs aren't a problem.

I can honestly report that I have been "bugged" by more people (rude, cranky, etc) than I have by real, honest-to-goodness bugs.

Even with cool nights, they still attack...and you are right, I cannot remember a time of year, that we don't have them! Too much standing water for them to breed, no matter the temps it seems...but the gnats have been insane this year!:earseek:

Mosquito's are not permitted on Disney property. I did the Wild Africa Trek - walking through the wooded back area of Kilimanjaro Safari on a hot August day - no bites....and my guide said she doesn't bother with the bug spray because she never gets bitten in Disney.
Now...bedbugs are a different issue!

We saw lovebugs everywhere BUT Disney. AK had some... but nothing to be a bother. Other than that, I honestly am VERY sensitive to bug bites (mosquitoes, chiggers, noseeums, you name it) and even walking around after it rained at night I have not had one bite. Now we did have a Palmetto in our room at Pop (think massive flying cockroach)...but that's another story :scared1:
