I took it to mean that it’s a difficult place to live so why would anyone live there if they didn’t have to be there for work. I’ll say, as a person who spent most her life in the southern US and now lives about an hour from NYC, it really is hard to live here if you were raised with the kindness and courtesy that exists in the south. The culture is totally different. If I had grown up here then I may have loved it but I didn’t grow up here and I spent the first few years here crying most nights.
To bring it back to this discussion about Disney I will say that Disney has always been a home away from home for my family. We loved every minute of it from walking into the air conditioned lobby at the Contemporary after walking back from MK to having a nice dinner at CG to riding Soarin’. You name it we loved it.
As we have been discussing this I realize that something that really bugs me is that I feel misled. From our first trip to Disney to our last trip to Disney we were always greeted with “Welcome Home.” They focused so much on getting their customers to come back for vacation after vacation. We had bounce back offers to make reservations for our next vacation before we ever checked out. DVC focuses a lot on getting people to buy into a lifetime of
Disney vacations. To me, it feels like with the new management team they couldn‘t care less if families come back or not. In fact, they seem to be focused on the fact that they make more money from once in a lifetime families. So, it’s changing from a home away from home to a theme park with overpriced hotel rooms and food and honestly I don’t feel as welcome there as I once did.
