Are any Disney guests average income people?

They (the "average household") are not making $500K/year. Estimates vary depending on the site I looked at, but highest I found was less than $150K/year.

You can't live in Manhattan making $150k unless you are in a rent controlled apartment. It takes $500k minimum to live in a non rent controlled unit there. Buying a 2 or 3 bedroom condo will cost you $5m.

Not going to argue about what you "need to live" but the point is that isn't what you said. You said the average household income is $500K/year. That is false.

Know? I am all confused. You mean no? There is no difference between you can't afford it and don't want to pay. Those are the same thing. It is just the choices you are willing to make to afford it.
No, I skipped a few words. "To me, someone who knows..." Lord. Allow folks some grace.

There is a major difference between affording and not wanting to pay. They are not the same thing. That's what you don't understand so it's never going to make sense. Just because I can afford something doesn't mean I find value in it.

I said in Manhattan the average household income was $500k. I might be a bit low on that but I was trying to be conservative in my numbers.

You are making it sound like a binary construct. It is is not. Other than food isn't everything discretionary spending? Heck even food you can get for free at the food bank.

Where are you getting this from? The vast majority of people living in Manhattan make less than $150k. Your numbers are wholly fictional aside from the price of purchasing a condo.

Unless you work there, why would you want to live there?
I don’t really understand what you’re trying to say here….are you suggesting that working in Manhattan means by default that you make a lot of money? Are you asking why the poor people don’t move? I don’t understand the question.

Why would you want to live in Manhattan unless you work there? What's the draw?

Many people are born there. Many people immigrate here and become part of large, insular immigrant communities. Many people work in Manhattan and continue to live below the poverty line because hedge fund managers and whatnot still need to have their shirts tailored and their bathrooms cleaned. Like….it’s a city…

I’m still trying to figure out what you’re driving at here.. are you suggesting that everyone who works in Manhattan is rich? Are you suggesting that anybody who is poor in Manhattan doesn’t work? Are you suggesting that if someone is poor in Manhattan they should move? What exactly are you trying to say with your rhetorical question?

I took it to mean that it’s a difficult place to live so why would anyone live there if they didn’t have to be there for work. I’ll say, as a person who spent most her life in the southern US and now lives about an hour from NYC, it really is hard to live here if you were raised with the kindness and courtesy that exists in the south. The culture is totally different. If I had grown up here then I may have loved it but I didn’t grow up here and I spent the first few years here crying most nights. Anyone who grew up here would probably hate my hometown. It’s been really hard to adjust to a place so different….not worse, not better, but much different than home.

To bring it back to this discussion about Disney I will say that Disney has always been a home away from home for my family. We loved every minute of it from walking into the air conditioned lobby at the Contemporary after walking back from MK to having a nice dinner at CG to riding Soarin’. You name it we loved it.

As we have been discussing this I realize that something that really bugs me is that I feel misled. From our first trip to Disney to our last trip to Disney we were always greeted with “Welcome Home.” They focused so much on getting their customers to come back for vacation after vacation. We had bounce back offers to make reservations for our next vacation before we ever checked out. DVC focuses a lot on getting people to buy into a lifetime of Disney vacations. To me, it feels like with the new management team they couldn‘t care less if families come back or not. In fact, they seem to be focused on the fact that they make more money from once in a lifetime families. So, it’s changing from a home away from home to a theme park with overpriced hotel rooms and food and honestly I don’t feel as welcome there as I once did.

Honestly? I only felt that way when I stayed at CR and the Cabins, in part because the Ft feels like a bit of a community.

At the value resorts? Not even a little. No one was awful but I despised POP and ASM wasn’t much better. There’s nothing wrong with them, per se, but the experience there is a world away from CR.
