Are any Disney guests average income people?

In Disney mind, "Locals-day trippers-annual pass holders", do nothing but clog the parks and detract from the experience of their "on property guest".

I total disagree with your line of thinking here...

How do you get that, or were would you get a idea such as this... ?

Is this more a personal judgement or personal opinion on local's, do you feel we clog up the parks?

Do you think that the locals are not as good as or beneath a guest that comes from out of town once or twice in a life time.?

When they opened back up who do you think went back into the parks first? who were the first to sit down at a table service, shop at Disney Springs... splash around at the water parks... Stay in the resorts..... Locals that's who....

We are the people who bring friends and family into the parks... take our guest to dinner at Disney Springs, suggest water parks for a great way to spend the day...

If this is the case, why would they offer Locals or Florida Residents discount tickets or special resort pricing, which is separate from Florida AP holders... just because we are locals doesn't mean we don't stay at the resorts... I can tell you first hand that we do... maybe not 10 day in a row... which is in our case, but over a years time we spend anywhere from 10 to 15 nights a year... and that not counting when we just go into the park for dinner, or to check out a new ride... or shell out for a hard ticket event... Florida Resident Annual Pass are a big bucks for Disney...

No we don't clog up the parks, we keep them going... Local's in and around the theme parks here in Orlando and Florida resident support the House of the Mouse... That you can be sure of.... !!!!

A) it came right out of the CEO'S mouth
B) this is not a personal attack. So don't take it as one
C) Sure, maybe YOU stay 10 to 15 times a year on property as a local. I guarantee the vast majority of locals are not staying 10 to 15 times a year at a Disney resort.

Like most things in life, we are talking about generalizations. It doesn't mean every single local falls into this category. But as a general rule, vacationers as a group will spend more per person than a local AP holder.

Do you think that the locals are not as good as or beneath a guest that comes from out of town once or twice in a life time.?

That doesn't mean "locals are not as good as or beneath guests that come from out of town." It just means as a general rule they spend less per person per day.

Do local AP's pop into the parks for a few hours or spend their entire day there? I've never been a local to WDW but when I had an annual pass to my local 6 Flags/Cedar Fair park there was no way I was waiting in line for more than an hour for anything. I would just ride that ride on a less crowded day in the future. If the entire park was busy? We left.

I could see APs clogging up the park reservation system but I would be very surprised to hear they're causing long lines on Frozen haha.

As a local...and AP holder with Park hoppers and No black out dates....

I can speak for myself... There are times when we just meet friends for lets say Food and Wine, and eat and drink around the world, or just decided to have dinner.... using Uber to get back and forth from our house,

There are times when we take our grandson to eat at T-Rex and hit the Lego store, and the World of Disney... Meet friends for dinner and Disney Springs, go to the movies, or bowling....

There are times when we spring for a hard ticket event and maybe spend 1 or 2 nights... Some times we just want to play tourist, and stay for a long weekend... We bring our DD and family for a few days, to relax and spend time together in the parks... other time we just like to wander the parks, and people watch...

Not including when out of town friends and family "come to see us", we spend days in the park with them...

Even if we are just meeting for dinner or a festival, We spend plenty of money, we always hit up the stores and check out the merchandise, and in most cases we normally buy something...

What clogs up the reservation system is people with multiple, MY Disney accounts... with different magic bands, different emails address, that book up a whole day so that they don't have to wait... and book multiple rides on the same ride over and over again... which is something no one ever talks about, yet it happens.

That would mean they have multiple tickets for the same day. If someone is that all-in on Fastpasses, I say they earned their short waits

I agree.... maybe..... per day on a day trip, or a trip into the park for dinner or a festival... yet we are spending money when we are in the parks.

We pay the same price for QS and TS meals, we pay the same prices for Merchandise...

We do get a discount on some TS meals... as well and merchandise, yet I know that we will buy more because of the discount, so really not saving to much at all
...
Resort stays, are about the same as what everyone else pays, We just stay differently...

Overall in a year we spend alot of money in the parks, much more than a 7 to 10 day visitor does once a year.

Could you please link the comment on the CEO stating that AP holders are clogging up the park.

Living in the theme park capital of the world has it perks for sure, living in Florida as many perks for sure......Yes we are glad that your visiting for sure, and we welcome you...

The locals are the people who work in the parks, in the restaurants, drive uber or lyft, work in the stores, drive the buses. As well as all the essential workers that are out there working behind the scene to keep you safe while your here enjoying state. So many people go into making all that vacation magic happen...

Do you know how much it is to go skiing?
The resorts are Disney high , just like Disney we can get a motel style room for $200 as a budget room. We eat in the room , but every thing is high cause it has to be brought up a mountain. The lift pass is $500+ plus the rental cost.
That would mean they have multiple tickets for the same day. If someone is that all-in on Fastpasses, I say they earned their short waits
I don't see the advantage trying to do this, if they still have to pay with genie+ or lightening passes? If they want to pay extra multiple times for each time they ride good luck to them. They obviously have lots more money to spend than I do.

I think the problem here is Bob Chapek. No CEO should come out and insult part of their dedicated customer base. Yet another failing on his part. he is a disaster to Disney public relations.

For those who are asking, here’s what Chapel said.

“AS YOU KNOW, DIFFERENT GUESTS, DEPENDING ON WHERE THEY ARE COMING FROM, HAVE DIFFERENT RELATIVE VALUES IN TERMS OF THEIR CONTRIBUTION AS A GUEST TO THE PARK. TYPICALLY SOMEONE WHO TRAVELS AND STAYS FOR 5-7 DAYS IS MARGINALLY MORE VALUABLE TO THE BUSINESS THAN SOMEONE WHO COMES IN ON AN ANNUAL PASS AND STAYS A DAY OR TWO AND CONSUMES LESS MERCHANDISE AND FOOD AND BEVERAGE.”

Disney CEO Bob Chapek, August 4, 2020

I don't know how it all works, I do know that multiple tickets for the same day is not in the equation... This is just like when people where making a bunch of ADR's knowing good and well that they were not going to use all of them, once Disney started charging for no shows, it did get better.

As well I think that as soon as Disney figures out how they are getting around the system and shuts it down. Some other method takes in place....The virtual que'ing has been the most easy to manipulate from what I understand. We have friends that work for the Mouse, and they said that you would not believe what people try do.

A valid, linked ticket was required to reserve a fastpass in MDE. No way around that. Not sure about VQ but there’s literally one in all the parks right now.

When I read it... and maybe its just me...

I see it as him comparing a guest who stay for 5 to 7 days, and a AP who stays 1 or 2 nights... and course they consume less... if you compared any guest staying less time whether they are AP holders or not, they are going to consume less....

but

What about adding in that the AP holder come several times during the year, for 1, 2 or 3 nights... then the scale tilts for the AP holder...

People purchase the AP because they visit on multiple occasions not just one or two night... why would someone buy a AP for 1 or 2 nights if thats all that they are going to use it for during a whole year? that would just be silly...

Well exactly. He is referring to the AP holder who may pop in 10 to 20 times a year, but only spends 1 to 2 nights per year in a hotel and consuming a days worth of food. I am making an assumption here, but I would imagine that their are far more of these than local APs who spend 5 to 10 days a year on property staycationing.

Of course if an AP holder is spending as much or more money than a vacationer, then they want those guests. I think the caveat is how long it takes them to break even. For example, if a local AP needs to spend 30 days in the parks just to spend the same as a 5 day vacationer, they will prioritize the vacationer.

Yes your right... That's how it should work, and did work and for most of us that hows it does work, we follow the rules and go about it.
Yet there are people who will try to circumvent the rules, and look for the loop holes. A buddy of my DH's is a computer guy, and he said that if its on line pretty much if you are willing to work at it, you can get around almost anything... people look for the way to get around the rules kinda thing.

The thing is that we could debate this all day... There are just to many variables on what someone spends on vacation or a staycation... You have your super budgeter's on both sides, all the way to TS every meal, hard ticket events, Deluxe resort stays.. to people who do not buy souvenirs to those who buy Disney art for several thousand dollars again both sides...

It not like apples to apples... in this case its apples to oranges... Florida Oranges...

Agree and exactly what I have been saying. They are targeting the 5-7 night guest by providing ways to incentivize it while also giving opportunity for AP to spend more. Genie+ and IAS are perfect examples. A family of 4 who comes for 5-7 nights per year probably just builds Genie+ into the budget and spends the money. An AP probably doesn't get those add-ons because they come so often it may get cost prohibitive unless they have guests in town or other reasons. But, if they want to spend more money then it puts them on an even playing field. I think their goal is to get the 5-7 night people and have those people return yearly. It might be hard to compute how many return guests they 'lose' because over the past few years they came during busy time and didn't enjoy their stay. So I think their main goals are to make more money...(big gap).... make the experience for the 5-7 night guest the best possible.

This statement also misses that the AP will likely come to the parks for more days in a year than the guest that travel and stays for 5-7 days. I'd guess that AP's actually spend more in the course of their year than the once a year guest family.

Ok so we are pirate pass holders we paid 700 each for 4 we went last weekend for two days and stayed about 3 hours each day and spent about $250 in food and a toy and spent the night in a local hotel - non Disney.

When I went before I was an AP and out of state... we took our lunch spent about the same per day but we were there all day... hotels could be on or off grounds depending on the price.

` This is interesting. You are the 2nd person whom I have heard mention
this. The first was from someone that works at Disney though she didn't
elaborate.

Why would anyone want to have multiple my disney accounts? I mean
has it really come to this?

I'm going to guess the CEO of Disney has access to data to support what he is saying. I mean, almost everyone in the park has a wristband that is transmitting their location passively. Disney is definitely using that data to better understand their guests.

I/we have an average household income and lifestyle. No new car in years, a very basic ranch home built 25 years ago when all of our friends were leaving their ranch homes and building 3000sq ft 2 stories. And yet, I wanted Disney vacations for myself and kids and I made sure it happened. BUT>>>>> fast forward to now, any future trips will be far and few between. COST matters and always has, but now the pricing point is getting further and further out of reach.
