With gas prices coming down will airfare prices go down as well???

We are planning a Feb 2004 trip to Orlando- from Vancouver, WA so will be flying out of Portland, OR. The prices are really high!!
SW isn't even a good rate- the days we need to travel- the cheapest fare is still $300 and of course is not available.
We went in 2000 and flew for $226 per person round trip.

Gas prices and jet fuel are two different issues.
Yours may be coming down, but CT's sure isn't.
As to whether the prices will come down, that is anyone's guess.
My guess, no.

Are you trying to fly over a holiday weekend? If so, I would say chances are slim. If not, I don't have a clue airlines work on their own rules and you might get lucky and get a sale. HOwever, the fact that SW has sold out of cheap fares for your dates is not a good sign.

We are trying to fly out the evening of the 12th- and arrive the morning of the 13th and leave to come home on the 22nd.

I'm guessing no. I've been watching fares for the past month or so for a January trip. While the advertised reduced rate tickets are now on sale for my trip time, the rates have not dropped like they did last year (got ATA from Chicago round trip for the extremely low cost of $109 last year). Best I could do was $172 with one leg at St. Pete's.
