Are 3 resorts too much trouble in 12 nights?

We did a 3-move stay in November of last year.

Checked in to OKW for 2 nights
Off-site at the Omni for 3 nights (DH had a meeting)
Checked in to SSR for 3 or 4 nights, can't remember

and I can tell you that when we go again this coming November for him to attend the same meeting, he will go to the Omni alone and I will stay at Disney and will only move once in 9 nights.

I thought it a real pain, and we didn't have any kids involved. One move during a stay is the most I would be willing to do. But then, I am getting older and pretty set in my ways, too.

Regarding moving three times, who does the packing and unpacking? If it's one person--no way would I move three times. And if you have lots of groceries it would add to the difficulties. More bags to keep track off and making sure nothing is lost.

Just some advice when doing split stays. Instead of packing a suitcase per person pack based on resort. And remember like someone posted above to place the swimsuits and sunscreen in the carry on.

We usually schedule our vacations so the shorter reservation is at the beginning of the vacation and the longer later. E.g. we are staying at AKV concierge for 2 nights on our next trip and moving to SSR for another week. For the two nights we will pack one suitcase for that trip that includes our kits and toiletries and clothes for two days. And then at SSR bring in all the suitcases. For a family of four I could see bringing two suitcases at one resort and all four at the second resort.

We usually do laundry because we don't pack for the entire trip but we always wait until we are at the resort with the longest stay (or perhaps when you have a 1BR might be your choice).

Packing for each segment just means less unpacking and repacking or living out of suitcases.

If you drive...you don't even have to get everything out of the car!

We are flying so I think that we are going to stick with 2 resorts this time and see what happens for the next time we go back. We are staying 6 nights at AKV (our home) and 6 nights at the BWV. We are packing enough for 6 days and then do laundry at the one bedroom at the BWV.

yea, I think that we are spliting only 6 and 6 because we never tried a new resort and the whole family loves Epcot and DHS so we got 6 nights at the BWV. thanks

I've actually done a split stay of only one night in a resort... mainly so we could try BLT when we were new members! (We could only get one night for the time we were there). Split stays certainly are not the same as staying for an extended period in one resort, but if you go in knowing it will be a short stay and you want a get a taste of the resort, it is fine and actually enjoyable. We are actually doing a split stay in June... 3 nights at BCV, the Dream for 4 nights, and end the trip with 2 nights at BLT. I'm mentally preparing for the moving. It isn't ideal, but we want to squeeze in different things on this trip, so I know we will have fun. If you want to try these resorts, I say do it! Next time you can settle into one resort for an extended period. I'm having a lot of fun trying new resorts. Have a great trip whatever you decide!

Thanks,
I think that we are doing only 2 this time and see how that goes for next time. ;)

We really like to to go to WDW for 12-15 nights and stay at the same resort the whole time. It just feels so relaxed that way. IMO, stay put.;)

We love our home resort, but we want to know what it feels like to be close to Epcot and don't have to take a bus to go back to your room. My son is also planning on getting up early and getting those fast pases for Soarin and the other rides that they like and then go back to the resort for breakfast.:cool1::thumbsup2

We did this in december 2010 while on our honeymoon. We did 3 nights at BLT, 4 nights at VWL, and then 4 nights at the YC.

While it was great to check out a few different resorts, it was too much moving around....I would do a split stay between two only, and only if necassary. I feel like we have "been there done that"...you know what I mean? I though we would love it, but it was just a tad annoying.

I don't think your DS can get the Fps for everyone who is still at the resort. Is that what the plan is? One time DH's AP didn't register properly at the entrance and because of that he couldn't get an FP. The CM did give him a temporary FP and we had to return to Guest Relations to get his AP rescanned so we could other FPs that day.

I'd love to visit 2 resorts in a stay....but my hubby just wants to unpack and stay in one place......I s:worship: to,those of you that can do 3 in one trip

ITA! We like to visit many resorts too, but on separate visits. If I had to keep packing & unpacking I wouldn't enjoy my vacation very much, but that's just MHO & I guess I'm in the minority here. :goodvibes

I was thinking about this very situation too over the last few days. We've done 3 resorts in 9 days before with 3 nights in each place. That was prior to kids though and we did feel it was just a bit too much for us. BUT we also got a free RPC upgrade at GF so leaving that to go to the WL was a shock to say the least. ;) We don't unpack at each place. We live out of suitcases. Or used to prior to DVC. Only way to know if it's too much is to try it. Sometimes it's the only way you can get the places you like.

If you are going after March 7th, the fastpass window will be strictly enforced as per reading other threads so your son will need to realize he only has the time on the fastpass to return to his selected rides. It will no longer be like the years' past when one could get a fastpass and then ride later than the time assigned on the pass.

We are planning 12 nights at the end of Sept into early Oct. We are going to try and get 6 nights in a 1bdrm at BLT and 6 nights at a 1bdrm at Kidani. Not sure which we are going to do first yet...

The one and only time we did a 3-way split stay coincided with us all having the flu on a February trip. I can only recall loving the first part of the trip, and having giraffe outside our balcony to "keep me company" in the middle of the night. The switching from there to VWL, and then from VWL to WL (even though it was steps) away was painful. No more double switches for me.

That said, I love a normal split stay. I make the first part short (2 or 3 nights, nothing shorter than 2) and the long part the second half and we feel we get the best of both resorts and I don't feel homesick for AKV :)

It looks like we're be doing our second triple split. ;) It was just the way we had to work it this time so we're all going to make an adventure of it and enjoy each of the places we stay because they are worth the trouble (BCV, AKV-CL and THV). Try to look at it that way. Each place, a new adventure and new excitements! Like 3 mini vacations all in one. Just bring more for bell-services tips. :)

Doing a split stay at two resorts is doable. We did three last year 3 nights at SSR and seven nights at OKW. I like finally being settled. We had room troubles and I should of let them move us but I just was so tired I didn't want to repack. I told them to just fix everything. :confused3 Another trip we stayed at three resorts (due to last minute booking and availablility) and although I enjoyed it. I wasn't settled until we were at the last resort. :teacher: I learned a lesson that two resorts is the most for us!

Hello,
We are debating if we want to have to pack 3 times while staying 12 nights.
Initially and the way it is still booked was 8 and 4. We have never stayed in any other resorts but our AKV our home resort, but the DH and would love to stay close to Epcot and DHS which are aour favorite parks, so we booked 4 nights at the BW but really wanted the BC for the pool for the kids 9 and 15. We started thinking that maybe 3 resorts would be too much. Right now is all studios but are thinking or doing a split of either 5,3,4 ot 6,2,4 booking a one bedroom in between the AKV and the Boardwalk.
Do you guys think 3 resorts would be too much??
The other option is to change the BW to a one bedroom to enjoy more space after staying in a studio for 8 nights.

First let me say it would be WAY TOO MUCH moving for me. That is especially true when kids are involved...no matter what age. My thought is why do you think you have to try and stay in all 3 in one trip? I always think of it as there will always be another trip. Why not let yourself get immersed into one resort per trip to get the full benefit of that location and resort?
