My husband & I are trying figure out a date we were thinking April 11th 2015 but we were worried with 3 kids (1, 4 & 5) that it will be too crowded so we were thinking Oct 17th 2015! Then my kids would be (2, 4 & 6) my only dilemma is my daughter will be just starting kindergarten is it ok to pull her out a week?! It's 1/2 day kindergarten

April will be crowded since Easter is April 5 and not all schools take Spring break at the same time.

Oct the crowds will be a bit heavy on the weekend during F&W so Epcot will be crazy.

My kids are almost 4 1/2 and we've been there both times of the year. April is definitely worse - with crowds and heat. October is awesome. Epcot only really gets crazy later in the day (and more on weekends) in the World Showcase.

Enjoy your trip!

I personally don't see a problem with taking your little one out of school. I just want to add, that I worked for 20 years doing attendance in a school district and I will honestly say, taking children out of school in kind. or first grade isn't bad at all. After 1st grade it's harder with all the extra work they have to do.. good luck with whatever you decide..

I pulled my daughter for a week in December in full day kindergarten and a week in November in 2nd grade. No problems either time and the teachers were on board. The 2nd grade one was tougher for work - we got very little in K, just a journal for the trip (which was more fun than work!). If you know she is likely to be a good student, I would do October.

I pulled my third grade son from school for a Disney trip last year. We didn't want to go when it was crowded so we picked the second week of Feb and the weather was perfect, high 70s to low 80s. At any elementary grade it doesn't take much to keep up with the school work load since they move at such a slow pace. I will do it again next year since that will be his last year before middle school.

Thank you ladies!!!!! We are def going to do October I feel so much better that others pull their kids out!!! :)

We always pull our child out. He's in 7th grade this year. So much more pleasant going off-season.

I agree - I would take them out with no worries. I also would go in October - better weather.

Now our kids are older and we can't take them out anymore - so sad.

I was just reading the weather and seen how nice it is in October!! I can't wait only 1 1/2 lol

We pulled our kids out of school when they were in first and third grades. We spoke with the teachers before we left and they were on board.

We worked on school work on the drive. It wasn't bad.

I also pull my kids out of school DS 8 and DS 18.. it gets harder as they get towards high school for them to miss days. I think its totally worth it and have never had an issue with their school as we tell the teachers prior to going

I pulled mine for a week in first grade for a disney cruise. No problem at all.

Now we homeschool, so we really don't have to worry about it. :rotfl:

Tho you've made your decision I wanted to add...We are in this category ;) There are many of us lol Have fun planning!!!

I am pulling mine next month, they are in 3rd and kindergarten. I pulled my older one when she was in 2nd grade (in October) and also when she was in kindergarten. This will probably be the last time since she will be in 4th grade next year.

I say do it and have a great time!

Pulling a half-day kindergartner out of school is nothing. What's she going to miss? Reading circle time? Please. Actual experiences outside of the classroom (yes, even Disney) are so much more valuable to a child's learning than being in a classroom.

We pulled our kids (1st, 3rd and 5th) twice this year for Disney trips. The teachers didn't say anything, except have fun. For make up work they just had to keep a journal of their activities. My oldest had a little work to make up when he got back, but he's academically advanced so it didn't take much.

We are thinking of homeschooling next year and traveling the US in our motorhome, with 2 weeks or so at Disney and a stop in Disneyland. I'm a HUGE believer in getting out of the classroom to learn.
