April/May 2006 Code Watch

JayPS- one advantage to booking a package is the option of having the dining package. Also, you can get your tickets cheaper through ticketmania via mousesavers.com if you are getting room only. This is the way I am booking unless a great deal on a package is announced.

I don't have any ressie yet but I do have my plane tickets. I would love to be able to stop worrying about the codes coming out. I would really like to stay at the Poly or GF this time. Just have to wait and see?! :goodvibes

Booked for May, POR at AAA rate which was 165/night. Did this through Disney directly.

I booked directly with Disney too, AAA room-only rate for May, and my price is exactly $146.07 per night, including taxes! I wonder why your price is $19 MORE per night?? Both of our trips fall within "regular season", so that's not the reason. I'd call back again and ask, if I were you. If your trip is for 5 nights, for example, you'd be paying $100 more than me! :confused3 Let me know what you find out! :)

P.S. I know you said your tickets were "added on", but I hope they didn't give you a package price??! :confused3 I still haven't purchased tickets because we might be buying Annual Passes.

P.P.S. Just thought of another possibility: Is your room a waterview room, or a king bed room? Mine is for a standard room. If yours is not a standard room, that would explain the price difference :)

rack rate is $155 plus tax for standard view, $175 for waterview or King

I called yesterday to add the airfare and car rental to our package. The CM was taking forever(computer problems, I think) so I went to the Disney site and put in all my package information, just to pass the time. When she came back, the quote from her was higher. Hmm........... Glad I was at the website. They had us down for non-expiry tickets. We are going for 6 nights, 7 days. Why would I pay for tickets that don't expire? Seems like a waste if I know we are not going back soon. Will probably get a package on any future trips anyway.
Also, Disney had the best airfare and car rental prices. The same flights were $100 more if I booked through Air Tran directly.

Really? Where did you get your info? Seems like the $165/night which was waterview, was about a $30/night savings over the web site which I took to be rack rate for this time period.

Should I be calling and trying again?

Hi, it is a waterview room (I requested and am hoping for Magnolia Terrace) and 9 nights. Someone else posted a much lower rack rate as well so now I'm wondering where I stand. Also, how could I figure out what I shoudl have gotten for ticket price, other than through the Disney site? What did you mean by "package" regarding the tix?

As always, thank you all for the info and comments.

Mousesavers.com has the rack rates ($175 waterview regular season + tax of 11.5%) and also that the AAA discount for regular season is 15%.

I think you guys are comparing apples & oranges. JayPS, it looks like you have taxes added into your numbers while the other poster does not.

$175 - 15% = $148.75
add in tax 11.5% =$165.86

$175 + tax = $195.25

So ~$30 difference per night. :)

Here is a link to rack rates with the tax included

If someone posted a lower rack rate, it probably does not include taxes (mousesavers list) and/or is a regular room not waterview and/or is during value season not regular.

You are exactly correct and thank you very much for taking the time to clarify. :thumbsup2

Mine is indeed the complete price with tax so it does work out. I don't know whether I'm happy that it's right or sad that there isn't perhaps a better rate to be had! Anyway, like I said before, we're going to Disney World! It looks to me that our tix price is right on as well but I'll keep looking into that to see if there's a better way/price.

All.

Anyone know about general public codes? I dont' have an AP, but I do have park hopper PLUS pack as well as dining. I also do NOT have a TA. Anyone heard of codes I can use? Is this futile?

Grim

I am waiting on 1st week in April for general public pkg codes. I have paid in full so any discounts will be gravy for me. :thumbsup2

I'm not going to sweat it but it would be nice. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Here's hoping....

I posted this awhile back in this thread but here it is again: :thumbsup2

The Dance of a Thousand Codes

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is the third time I've been waiting to use AP rates, and each time, the DIS boards seem to follow the same pattern.

1. The thread starts out young and naive, eagerly awaiting the imminent release of codes.

2. By page 15 or 20, some folks start getting frantic, but the majority of poster realize we're still months away from a code.

3. By page 40, fear begins to set in. People are convince that even if codes come out, there won't be enough!

4. By page 55, the hysteria has taken root! Disney already has too many bookings! Codes aren't coming out!

5. At some point, we're going to hit page 90, and all bets are off. Seas boil, mountians tremble, vacations are cancelled or resort expectations are downgraded to value, or even (dare I mention it) off-site.

6. Magically, one morning... CODES ARE RELEASED! The boards light up with happy posters! Some poor saps aren't able to get into their preferred resort in time, but they at least have the option of selecting a different resort, if they choose.

7. Code Day + 1. Relieved reservation-holders bash their computers with a hammer and vow never to go through this again.

All I'm saying is, don't worry until you have something to worry about! Or, as my dad would say, I'll give you something to cry about!

To any other Code-Veterans -- does that sound about right?

Doug

Just looked at my countdown timer and it has finally switched to 2 months and 6 days as opposed to 2 months and 1 week! Yea! We leave for WDW on the 18th of April. Make sure to wear your lime green!

I'm going over to check if there are any Dis meets in WDW the week we are there. :thumbsup2
