April/May 2006 Code Watch

I'm booking my airfare now anyway!!! I'll take whatever discount I can get with my AP but Pop is Pop...I can afford that without the discount. That's the one reason I chose it...so I could book the other stuff and not obsess (too much) over the rates. But I still want a discount....more food to eat then!!!!

I am not an AP holder. I am just a schmuck who would love to get a code to help make this vacation more affordable. When I booked I knew that a code would be icing on the cake and I was prepared to pay full price. (I did last trip as I didn't know anything about the DIS when I booked. :confused3 :guilty: :confused3

If I get a code great. If not I still get the vacation I wanted.... just at full price. :sad2:

So I still wait for gen public pkg discounts...... :rolleyes1

Do you already have tickets? It may be worth it to purchase 1 AP for yourself. You would save $798 with the AP discount. The you could purchase the DDE card & get 20% off your table service meals.

I just got off the phone with Disney. No new rates or codes out yet but I spoke to an amazing CM who said the AP rates should be out any day now!!!

I was hoping since today was the 9th(and last two years it was 3/9) they
would be out :(

I just booked a package through AAA. I'm a little nervous because I never booked through AAA before and I knew more then my travel agent about Disney. I just couldn't stand the wait anymore. I'm still hoping that something good comes out, I can always cancel AAA, or maybe they can add the promo to my package.

I did the same and I feel the same way about my agent - I definitely know more than him! I too, am hoping that he can add any promo deal that comes out to my package. He did say that last year when the free dining promo came out, he was working overtime to adjust all of his clients packages to get the free dining.

if you don't want to book a package you can book the AAA rate rooms direct with WDW.

I know that this may not be the proper place but could someone tell me the breakdown of the AP proces vs the regular park admission prices? :rolleyes1

For some reason I can't get my head around it. :confused3

Thank you! :wave2:

Sorry I guess I didn't put that right.

I can't seem to find how much an AP costs?

I guess I am looking in all the wrong places. Hey isn't that a song lyric!

AP is $441.98/$388.73 including tax

PAP is $574.05/$505.90

Not sure what the precious poster was asking either..but I'll give it a shot.

Most people get APs b/c they plan on returning to DW within one year.

You can also get an AP for the other discounts it offers.

For instance...we are going to DW for 7-8 days. One adult ticket with park hopper would cost us about $237. (Not rack rate-this is already a discounted price through ticketmania through the mousesavers newsletter.) The AP is $205 more. We don't plan to return within a year but if an AP resort code comes out we may very well save the difference and more. We'd need about a $30 discount a night..but we are already getting that with AAA. So the discount would need to be about $60 a night to break even.

The longer your stay the more the AP works to your advantage as the parks ticket price goes up.

As an AP holder you can also get the disney dining card which saves you 20% on meals and drinks (including alcohol) at most TS places. The cost is $60 and it will take $300 in dining for you to break even on that.

We are not getting the meal plan, so this would really work to our advantage. Hopefully a darn May code will come out. We are going regardless, but I always love finding a bargain! Money to spend elsewhere at Disney.

Don't they realize that? The money saved from an AP code will get spent elsewhere anyways. And many of us with AP cards won't return within a year. So in the long run...Dis really makes out. :rotfl:

Hope this was helpful!

...is that if you are going to go for 10 or more days in a single year, the AP makes a lot of sense. On the other hand...if you can get hotel discounts (look at mousesavers.com for the latest resort discount codes) then the AP may make sense for as little as a 4 day stay.

Hope that helps.

I'm getting depressed waiting for these stinking codes. I KNOW they'll come out(AP or FL Res.) they ALWAYS do, but I just can't take the waiting anymore. :scared: When did they come out last year? I can't remember...that way I know not to keep wishing too soon. Everyday I check mousesavers.com and everyday no codes. :guilty: I just want to hurry up and get my room booked. We want to stay at AKL, but that will take a really good rate, if not we'll stay at CSR, we've never stayed at either. I just hate waiting...we're going 5/24-29 and I know the resorts are probably gonna be booked solid...I hate to not be able to get a room. :confused3

I feel your pain :listen:

I am obssessed with these DIS boards all day thinking "I better go check-they might have come out." :surfweb: I want the AP discount for our ressies at the CR and I am afraid there will not be as many available for the CR b/c of all the renovations keeping many rooms closed. I already have AAA rate but w/AP I will not have to worry so much about our dining costs--plus I would get the DDE card. ALSO--I need to know because I am getting 3 of our tickets thru HH with our points but I don't want to order them until I know if it makes more sense to get 2 adult and 1 child(purchasing the 2nd child ticket elsewhere) or 1 adult and 2 kids(puchasing the AP and DDE thru ticketmania et al)

  I AM GOING NUTS!!!

Not trying to :stir: but have you thought about booking your dates for the 2 resorts and then canceling one? We too are waiting for an AP code, but are going regardless. We booked for CSR already for mid may. The week before was booked solid. And my understanding is that some are having trouble with csr for the 29th..starting mem day weekend.

I'm pretty sure I read that the codes came out March 9 the last two years. Technically..if there is a code...they have until april 13..when the current code ends..to post one. I can't imagine they won't have one though..considering they have one now..for peak season..and May is regular season.

It's just a matter of waiting. Which can drive any sane person mad.

Good luck!
Ruth

I'm just glad I have a backup plan in place. I'm not expecting much...but it would be nice.

The past two years they have been released on March 9th. So if that is the case this year we have another month of wishing and hoping :teeth:
