April and August. It's a 2 for 1 PTR deal! (Updated 4/19 --- TRIP REPORT LINK!!!)

Chapter Eleven: Who knew scheduling meals could be so fun???

I have found that ADRs are some of the most fun things to plan. I have also found that I can’t stop either! This was the journey for our April ADRs so far:

Originally we had Crystal Palace-Breakfast, 50’s Prime Time-Lunch, and Yak and Yeti-Dinner.

After changing our AK day to the last day, we decided to drop Yak and Yeti so we could have as much park time as possible.

So what is our current ADR list? Read on to find out!

Well, this morning I was just browsing restaurants at Disney, exploring different options. Then I took a look at our current plans. Hmm. Epcot doesn’t open until 9am that morning. Even with MK not closing until 11pm the night before, we could still be up and ready in time to make it to an 8am ADR. But where??

First I considered Kona. It is on the monorail, so wouldn’t be that difficult to get from there to Epcot. However, Sarah has not indicated an expressed interest in Kona either. I considered ‘Ohana, but to be frank, dining with Stitch doesn’t really interest me at all.

Enter light bulb moment. We’re going to Epcot. We want an early morning ADR. Where could we possibly eat???

(I am sure you have figured out where this is going!)

AKERSHUS OF COURSE!
Honestly, the breakfast menu itself does not thrill me. In any normal situation, I would not pay that much for some eggs and pastries. But this is Disney! And with that breakfast comes something worth much more!

PRINCESSES!!!

I didn’t think we would have time for any kind of Princess breakfast, so this was a wonderful realization on my part.

Next, as it is “her” trip, I had to make sure that Sarah was on board.
I started off by asking, nonchalantly of course, “Even though MK doesn’t close until 11pm the night before, would you be able to be up for an early breakfast before Epcot on Saturday?”

“Of course!” she replied.

After I told her about Akershus, she squealed and smiled. Reservation confirmed!

We are dining with Belle at 8:20 on Saturday April 13. Yay!!!

We’re also excited because we will be able to take pictures around WS before opening. This is great especially because it is Flower and Garden festival. Topiary pictures, here we come!

Now onto some technical questions: How long will it take a cab ride from Port Orleans Riverside to Epcot? I’d rather schedule a cab instead of hoping that bus shows up on time. Same with Riverside to MK. Any help is appreciated!!!

WE GOT OUR MAGICAL EXPRESS ENVELOPE!!!

Will update later with pics, details, and some other info. But for right now, be happy with me!

Chapter Twelve: Update on our Disney Life!

Last time I updated (almost a month ago!) we had decided to add an ADR for Akershus on our second morning. Yaaaaaaaay! We are both very happy to have princesses in our future!

A few weeks later, we are still finding Disney joy around every corner!
Hmmm. What have we done? Well, besides work, school, and all of those little necessary things that make up normal life?

Recently we had a teacher in-service that took us to a conference. You would think that I would not find anything Disney in a room full of educators.

temporary_zps2a5512dc.jpg

It turns out, the next conference will be in Disney at the Swan and Dolphin!

I tried so hard to contain myself! Unfortunately, I dont think my school will be paying for me to head down to that conference. I wonder why? I would learn so much!!! Toy Story Mania is a good, ummm, enrichment tool?

Most normal people have an occasional relationship with their local Disney store. Its become our (not-so-secret) obsession. Although, Im proud of us. I think in the month since I updated last, weve only been to the store ONE time! Woohoo!

Here are some goodies we discovered last trip:

It is a Princess Backpack! With POCAHONTAS! I want it! But Im not five. Okay. Maybe not. Sad face.

Sensing a pattern?

Found this cutie for Mama. It doesnt have ears, but it is adorable!

Some parents want their kids to be cool and buy them baby Harley Davidson leather jackets. I think my someday-kid will be cooler wearing this.

temporary_zps8f843832.jpg

FLOUNDER BOWL AND SIPPY CUP! So cute!

temporary_zps7de2ff1b.jpg

I honestly cant remember what I actually bought (hint: it was none of the above) but Im sure it was cute. I think I got a fun nightshirt on that trip. It had a Happy Duck on it! And it was $10.

This isnt Disney, but I thought Id show you what my life has been like. First of all, crazy. Second of all, I cant get Tomorrow out of my head. And the show opens on Wednesday. Can you say tired?

temporary_zpsec93e361.jpg

This showed up in my school mailbox though. That was a fun surprise mailing! Too bad I dont have the funds or the ensembles to actually compete/perform in Disney. The second I do, Im printing the permission slips ;)

You tend to expect certain things of a 22 year old professional. For example, you have a certain image as to what their lunch plate would look like. Does this come to mind?

temporary_zps791531a4.jpg

Yes, that is a Rex bowl, Princess placemat, and Tangled plate. Dont judge. It made me smile (and eat less!)

WE GOT MICKEY MAIL!!!

That was fun!

Then I had to call and add my airline information. Again. Hopefully it sticks this time.

(In the spirit of honesty, I took these pics tonight but at least I remembered!)

Now to present day, this is what I saw when I walked into the school gym this morning.

temporary_zps624fc18a.jpg

That is our hanging laundry that becomes a white screen for projections throughout the show. It had some problems over the weekend. Luckily, it only took 20 minutes or so to return it to its former glory.

Thats following Saturdays catastrophic event when a picture frame hanging on stage crashed to the ground, breaking all of the glass in the frame.

Please let things not come in threes. Not this week. Please???

So one month from today, I will be on the Magical Express on my way to Port Orleans!!! Yay!!!! I seriously am having a hard time actually believing this.

Our schedule for the night is Magical Express, check-in, head to the room, open door, and stand in awe. It is going to be so cool!

Then Sarah heads off to shower and bed while I catch a bus or boat (which is faster?) to Downtown Disney. There Im off to Guest Services to activate my AP and purchase Tables in Wonderland! Once that monumental event has occurred, its back on the bus/boat and back to bed as soon as those wheels/rudder will carry me!

After a night of magical dreams in that comfy bed, we will be headed out to break the fast with Pooh and Friends!

In addition to Disney store adventures and eating off of magical plates, weve also been re-reading all of the Frump adventures here on DIS and watching their videos. Seriously, read and watch. They are so fun. They also reassure me that Im not crazy. Well, maybe just a little bit.

Weve also been watching lots and lots of Disney movies, playing Disney games, listening to Disney music, and just keeping the magic alive while we count down the FINAL MONTH!

We even find Disney things in the grocery store! (Dont worry-we didnt buy them!)

31 Days!!!!

Just wanted to say... I love this backpack too! And my little girl just happened to pick it for her ' backpack'..and so we now own it! You (and her) have good taste. I loved it too because it had not only Pochontas, but Mulan. (dd #3 is from China!). Both so rare... We just had to get it.

It will be coming with us on our Nov. Trip! Hahahahaha!!! :)

Good plan on everything! So exciting!

Good plan on everything! So exciting!

That would be so fun to take this with me on our trip! Being such a short trip though, we're saving all hassle and just using carry-on. I don't think it is big enough :(

I'm so incredibly excited. Still doesn't seem real to me!

Thanks for following along!

Chapter Thirteen: The One where we make even more plans!!!

Even though Mama and I have had the dates and the room for the August trip nailed down for quite a while, we had avoided buying tickets for the flights. As crazy as it sounds, we werent exactly sure where we would be flying out from!

As it turns out, our whole family (father and brother included) will be on our family vacation in New Hampshire from August 3-10. The question was: do we drive back home on Saturday 8/10 and then take a flight out of our home airport on Sunday or just fly out from New Hampshire on Saturday and add an extra night in the most magical place on earth?

Well, after going round and round (and round), we finally decided to&&.
Fly out on Saturday and have an extra night!!! Oh well, I guess we have to add a night to our reservation! That is just horrible news!!

Then the question arose: do we add a night at French Quarter or somewhere else? Somewhere else seemed enticing. I suggested the Beach Club so that we could have a relaxing first day at Stormalong Bay.

However, upon looking up prices, it seemed ridiculous to pay over $300 for one night. Then Mama suggested Art of Animation. Now that sounds like fun! We are now scheduled to swim in the sea with the Little Mermaid!
We will be leaving from Manchester at 1:25pm and arriving at 4:25pm. Most likely, well spend the first night exploring the resort, having a good meal, and maybe enjoying some pool time.

Im assuming well be off to Magic Kingdom bright and early Sunday morning! There are extra magic hours until midnight, so our plan is to have a longer break midday in order to take advantage of them. Well see if it actually works out that way!

I am definitely looking forward to being able to tour at a leisurely pace. If I dont get on that ride today, there is always another day to make it a priority. It will be tough remembering that the first few days though. Usually, our first instinct is to go full speed ahead!

I have to keep thinking of this image: Sitting by the Castle, eating my breakfast, feeling the sun on my face, and watching all of the joy in front of me. Not too bad!

Today was a wonderful day! I took a much needed mental health day from school (our musical Annie Jr. finished its brief run last Friday!) and I decided to spend some time crafting! What did I make?

As a teacher I have my own personal laminator (because Im awesome) so I preserved everything! This will be used for many trips to come. Im even considering making more to bring us up to 50 days out&seems like a long time to wait to use a countdown!

Subbed in!

First off, let me just say that the health journey that you, your mom and your sister have started is inspiring. I love seeing people take control of their health and work to change for the better! Way to go! :thumbsup2

Second, I'm super jealous that you're an AP holder. That's my dream!

Third, your trips sound great so far. Two trips in one year- again, my dream! I noticed you said you were considering a Tusker House breakfast. I just did that a few weeks ago and it was great. The characters were fun and the food was good. It was a really nice way to start off our morning!

Finally, I love your countdown wall! Maybe I'll set one up in my apartment in the fall. I would start now but I don't know that I have enough room for 300+ cards, lol! :rotfl:

Thanks! My Mama is doing amazing! She's almost in onederland!

Seriously, never thought I'd be an AP holder in my life. I STILL don't believe it!

Yay graduation money+2 summers of work=2 trips!

Tell you what, that countdown has already worked its magic......"Hmmmm...don't feel like going to the gym...but there are only 23 cards left....guess I'm going to the gym!"

Subscribing!!! Loving the excitement of your pre-trip report(s)!! Congratulations on living a healthier lifestyle! It can be tough at times, but the end results are worth it.

I love your ADR's! So many yummy places!

Thanks for the encouragement! Some days are harder than others, but I keep going!

I am sooooo excited to eat some amazing Disney food. Just the right thing to do after losing weight, huh? :rolleyes1

Chapter Sixteen: We are PIN TRADERS now!

During our last trip, I kept seeing all of the pins and wondering, “Hmmm. What is this “pin trading thing” all about?” I didn’t know if I was going to become a pin trader or not, but I thought I might collect a few pins here and there. Well, once the idea was planted, it grew. A lot.

One day, I happened to find two pins on sale at Disneystore.com and with an additional discount code, got two awesome pins! Unfortunately, my shipment got lost along the way, so they quickly sent out a new package. I received that, and then a few days later, received the original one! I had 4 pins! 2 to keep and 2 to trade! (Don’t have pics of these yet. Don’t worry! I’m sure I will soon!)

Think that was the end of it? No way!

I discovered pins on Ebay! With the help of the “good/bad” ebay seller list that I found on the Dis, I was able to get a nice starting collection for $50, including shipping! 25 pins, all unopened packs. I didn’t really care which pins they were because I plan on trading most of them away!

After getting the wonderful package in the mail, my sister and I divided them up, and loaded up our lanyards! We are ready to trade!

Not the best pictures ever, but they'll do for now!

A few of my choices:

Chapter Seventeen: NOT FART SHOES.

Let me start off this update by saying, “NO! They are NOT fart shoes!”

(You’ll understand more in a few minutes.)

Have you ever been on Etsy to see those amazing, hand painted Disney shoes? I have. And salivated over them. I even considered saving to plunk down some serious cash one day before I woke up and came out of that dream world. Then, I had the most amazing realization!

I can make my own! (Duh!)

A few weeks ago, I was out buying some new work shoes and flats, and impulsively decided to buy some plain flats to someday turn into Disney works of art. Then, since it was next door, I headed over to AC Moore and picked up paint, brushes, and sealer. With the help of my teacher discount, the total for the shoes and supplies came to about $35. (That may seem a lot for shoes, but I’ll use the paint for lots of other projects as well.)

The shoes and paints sat in a bag for a few weeks as I spent my time frazzled over other things. Finally, the glorious day came! SPRING BREAK! It was time to unpack the paints and get to work!

I planned on this project taking all of break, doing a little here and a little there. Ummmmmm. Didn’t quite happen. I was so excited about them that I just kept painting! Over the course of two days, I spent about 12 hours (not consecutive) painting and creating. To most, that may seem like overkill. To me, it was incredibly relaxing and a wonderful way to start off my well-earned break!

Now, back to the Fart Shoes.

After I was finished, my sister held up my newest prized possessions, and proclaimed them to be FART SHOES.

I don’t think so little girl! These are so NOT FART SHOES!

Look below, and see for yourself!!!!

I always say I want to start pin trading! Maybe I should look into it for my next trip- it seems like there are lots of ways to get good deals to start up.

Love the shoes! I ended up doing my own pair too- I figured why pay so much money for the etsy ones when I can just copy them. It was a fun project! Love the colors of the wind part on yours!

YAY POCAHONTAS! I've now designed and ordered a shirt with her on the front and made shoes with her colors on the sides ;)

Do you have pics of your shoes up somewhere? I'd love to see them!
