April 6th dcl announcement

I am all for sailing out of Galveston!! Not having to drive 15 hrs, sweetens the deal for me. I think many Texas folk would agree. We may even get some Texas resident pricing, woohoo! Likey, likey!

Meh, I'm not excited about a possible NYC or Galveston cruise. Neither would have an intinerary that would interest me that much. So I don't pay that much for a flight to NYC as I would to Florida (and sometimes that's not even true) ... big deal if the cruise is going to places that I don't care about. It's then only about being on the ship. I don't really want to spend so much money to experience only one aspect of a cruise.

By 2012 they'll have 4 ships .... why put all four of them in North America? Seems like a waste to me.

We have also managed to find many great prices on DCL, but not always. In this case, we are sailing in a very high season (right through Easter) in the Med and paid only $1700 per cabin for two inside cabins for an 11 night cruise. That is less than half what cabins on the Dram for only 7 nights were going for over Eater (not that we wanted to sail to the same boring islands again anyway).
Hadley! Great to see you again! Still waiting till we can all cruise together again, but longer cruises are difficult for us with timing. Hope you have a great time during your Easter cruise!

Back to the thread. I just checked Southwest to Houston rather than MCO. It would cost us around $300 more to fly there for the 5 of us. That's a decent price, though the travel time is not very comfortable. As we've never actually visited the SE of Texas before, I think it would be a great trip for all involved at least once. I like Texas and have been to Dallas, El Paso and Wacko (oops Waco). The kids haven't been so it would be an interesting trip for them. So, we Canucks are looking forward to Galveston as well. I'll be happy to cancel this year's December Magic cruise for next year's with barely a blink of the eye.!

We were talking about this thread over dinner. We are wondering if DCL was planning to test out Asia (with stops in Hawaii there and back) and is now stalling for time as they figure out a back up plan given the situation in Japan due to the earthquake:confused3

Regardless, it will be really interesting to see what they really decide to offer.

Hi Barry! I hope we will cruise together again soon. What did you think of your last cruise? (Carnival I think)

Team Galveston here too!

Galveston gets a vote from us. As much as we want to sail the Dream or Fantasy, I couldn't pass up a chance to sail out of Galveston. Just a short 7 hour drive for us, vs a 20 hour drive to Port Canaveral.

I want Galveston also! To anywhere - a stop at Key West would be a great one - chocolate covered key lime pie is a good enough reason for me. I'm in TX and would transfer my deposit for the Fantasy to a Galveston Disney cruise to pretty much anywhere to save the airfare. I REALLY hope Magic sails out of Galveston on a permanant basis (even if only part of the year).

We'd have two Magic's as I think the Carnival Magic is scheduled to sail out of Galveston starting in November. Is that any issue??? Never too much magic in one place, I guess! :rotfl:

Agreed! :thumbsup2 If the Magic were to sail out of Galveston, I'd be on that ship regardless of where she sailed to! But, then again, I'm only about 40 minutes away from Galveston!

I totally agree! A friend and I have been hoping that they'll anounce another Baltic cruise, but from the sound of things it looks like that may not happen :( Also, why in the world would you have ships at PC, Galveston AND LA? Seems strange to me

Living in San Antonio I am also Team Galveston, but hopefully not just for the winter months since my kids are still in school I wouldn't be able to take advantage of how close it is!!! Although, summer in Galveston would mean DCL taking all my money!!!:rolleyes1

I am hoping to sail in Europe for 2012. That is what I have planned. I really have no interest in doing any of the "beach" destination islands.

I am hoping for Hawaii but a bit weird is that the ship has no other ports. Might be stalling but I doubt it since most other lines have spots. Not worth it to me. Carnival and Royal to come out with new plans every week for the next week and new Carnival Breeze to be announced. So I think the April 6 is a go.

Basically in 2 words, Carnival SUCKS! Sorry, I was so disappointed with our cruise after the treatment we had on the Magic that I can't wait to board her again! Looks like Galveston, here we come!

Isn't there a place to look where we can find where Disney has dock space?

I know someone found out the Magic was going to be in Europe because they saw that the Magic had dock space

Oh I am so sorry. That is how we felt about them, but I was hoping you had a better experience.

Is that true???? Oh, I sure hope so!! We want to cruise Europe too in 2012 and hopefully it is a Baltic or a different itinerary! Hope, hope, hope....!!

I don't think DCL is out of the med. I think you'll see eastern med next. Maybe famous last words. Also heard there were many visa issues with Baltic cruisers who did not obtain visa for Russia.

We also go on Carnival we do not go with the Disney attitude. The Carnival Dream is nice and thier food is good. Would prefer to go with Disney but the itinerary may win and Carnival may win.

I am gald you have liked it:goodvibes A lot of people seem to have better experiences than we did. I like many lines and am not wedded to Disney at all. I think both Princess and Celebrity are just as good (in different ways) AND have better itineraries--so I don't think I am going on Carnival with a "Disney attitude"--it just was not the line for us (or we hit a bad one time try, but given all the other options available I am not willing to waster a week of vacation and a few thousand dollars giving them a second chance).

If they announce this April 6th, how quickly will I be able to book?

Should I just get things all lined up with a travel agent?

I usually book everything myself but there is no way I can pass up those ship board credits:goodvibes

I am done speculating.....hoping for NY as it is only 30 minutes away but also wouls love to try the Eastern Med.....

I am just going to wait it out and see!!!
