April 29, 2012 ~ Aloha! ~ Wonder to Hawaii- who is with me?

I love the Tiki as I see it every day in my bathroom! When I compete in the horse shows and have polos done we do several shirts grant it it not 100 shirts but we order a main shirt and then also make other shirts available at X cost. Just an idea.

I seem unhappy because all I see, and again this may get lost in translation because it is typed and not spoken, but from my perspective there is a lot of closed mindedness going on. Maybe it is the way my mind is interpering posts but I will say one thing, thanks for helping me make up my mind. I think I just maybe out of here after this post. I am going to cool off and steep back and gather my thoughts and then make a firm decision. Oh and to answer your question, yes it is just this group as of late that is making me feel thus way.

Hmm, I don't see the 'closed mindedness', I see a group of people excited about our vacation who are friendly, welcoming, chatty and intelligent. Maybe it is all in the interpretation.
I am sorry you feel that way, and I'm sure I speak for the entire group saying nobody wants anyone to feel that way. We are all here to share our excitement, nothing negative. :)

Just My two Cents.
I dont know what some people have to be so negative about everything. life is to short and precious to be negative about everything. If you dont like whats going on on the boards why are you on them? If you dont like something that someone else has worked so hard on dont be so mean about it keep your opinion to yourself. Also dont put them down these people who are working so hard on this stuff takes time out of their busy schedules to make sure that othr people can have a great time in addition to the great time they will already have on the cruise.

I love the new design. Great job. And i just wanted to thank those who take the time out of their busy schedules to make all this stuff. Youre all very creative. :thumbsup2

Well said Lindsay, Agree 100%
It is the giving people on these boards that take time to organise the little extra's like lanyards, FE's, Shirts, etc, that make our cruise experience so much more special.
Thank-you everyone! :flower3:

So I have had a chance to cool off a bit. I think today is just one of those days. Anyway while I was cooling off I had a extreme thought. Val has worked so hard over the last few weeks. I think it should be her that decides. Since most here don't care I think that is the best thing to do. Becides tge artist I think knows best. So I say Val you pick.

Well said, I hope you have cooled off, everyone has those days. I hope you can find a cheerier disposition like this in future. :goodvibes

Today before I came to work was one of those days were I wish I did not wake up till it was time to go to work. I will say though I do stand by my statement that Val needs to make the decision due to all her hard and wonderful work.

Bob here. We got involved in DISboards only about a year ago because Valerie was trying to get more info about the Westbound Trans-Atlantic cruise on Magic. The more that we discuss things on the boards, the more great ideas come up. Plus, we get into interesting side-tracks like whether Minnie is actually a tramp or, like Jessica Rabbit said, "They just draw me this way." And that, unlike the "freestyle cruising" line, you can bring bottled goods and snack foods aboard.

Lanyards, FEs, gift exchanges of all kinds, meet 'n' greet, stateroom tours, Champagne Girls, martini sampling, Mickey Mouse Club T-shirts, scavenger hunts, "Pirates Across the Atlantic"-logo polo shirts, wine tastings, coffee klatsch (the German spelling, I guess, should be kaffe klatsch), morning Promenade Deck walk, drink mixology, jewelry making, wildest tropical-patterned shirt contest, album design (did I forget any? -- oh yeah, some people are talking about making Hawaiian shirts) are all things that have been organized by DISboard members on cruises. Parents can organize story time or pajama parties for kids. On the Trans-Atlantic and Trans-Panama cruises, people organized excursions in categories that DCL missed.

The last two weeks or so a lot of discussion centered on the topic of custom-printed shirts. I hope you don't feel that we've hijacked the group. There are still a lot of other potential activities, and when we have as many options as listed above, clearly nobody can participate in all of them. Although Valerie tries!

I was the one who wrote that it'd be cool to have dozens of people appearing here and there on the ship in matching shirts, but that's just a secondary reason to buy in. Same as getting a lanyard. In the past, someone posted T-shirt graphics we could copy and, after buying stock ink-jet transfer sheets, print the logos for our own shirts. Nobody makes an ink-jet transfer sheet that's big enough for a whole shirt with sleeves and collar, so if this is going to happen, someone has to get a source to print and sew the shirts for us. If too few people choose paying for a shirt -- for any reason, and any is acceptable -- then it just doesn't happen.

I'm looking forward to wearing several of my Disney Hawaiian shirts, and hope to buy one with our cruise's logo, but please don't feel that I, or Valerie, or anyone else is expecting you to participate in this shirt order. Sure, we hope you will.

I so want to get a shirt, my thing is, Val made so many good ones I can't decide. This is why I think she should make the decision. I would rather get the shirt that is nearest to the designers heart than the one I like best. That will give it extra special meaning. That is why I am now advocating that the voting stops.

You know what. I was thinking. As great as it would be to have a shirt, I am going to pass. There are just to many nice ones. Right now I could say I would buy 3 of them. But since it will be down to one obviously because so many want matching shirts I am out. I just don't want to want to be stuck with something I don't want. Oh well :(

Alan, so glad you had a change of heart and were so nice about it. :thumbsup2 I love the new one. What about you?

from Bob "I was the one who wrote that it'd be cool to have dozens of people appearing here and there on the ship in matching shirts, but that's just a secondary reason to buy in. "

Yes, I totally agree it would be cool and getting a group picture of everyone wearing a 'matching shirt'

My opinion is yes we are all excited about this cruise. Can we all agree on that? :yay: It is thru the DISBOARDS and wearing the lanyards that other people who I've chatted with and saw me wearing my lanyards would just pass by and say 'hi'. Others stop and we chat for awhile and vice versa. It's how you make some friends but only if you want to. We all have another thing in common. DISBOARDS. It doesn't matter if we go on it to build friendships; to get ideas; to participate; to lurk - it doesn't matter as long as we can keep it fun for the most part yet be there for support when others are going thru difficult times. In the past, I've gone thru some very difficult times (sickness, my mom passing away, my wedding on the Disney Wonder) and the love :grouphug:and support that I received from my DIS family was overwhelming. I consider some of my friends that I met on the DISBOARDS more of my family than some of my family. We have been there for each other thru colonoscopies :scared1:, death of a loved one :sad1:, graduations, engagements, birthdays :bday:and anniversaries and weddings :bride:etc etc. I love the idea of matching::MickeyMo::MickeyMo::MickeyMo; deciding on when to wear the shirt on a specific day and time and getting a group picture. It's fun but for those that don't want to participate - don't. Each one of us is going on this cruise for different reasons and that's what make the DISBOARDS work. Since some of us have decided that we want to wear 'matching' shirts, I like that we are doing this by majority rules. I'm sure Val probably likes all of her designs or she wouldn't have done them. Just my 2 cents.

Aan1701,

I for one hope you don't leave the group as I am counting on you to let us know when we can book on SWA. :)

Thanks,
Peggy

As a veterinarian I find it necessary to point out that while Ariel may only require 2 sea shells Minnie, being a mouse, needs 8. Just sayin'

I thought Minnie always wears a black leotard under any of her clothes:confused3 I mean think about it, her arms, legs & body are always black right up to the neck.:confused3

Well said, Bob! I am traveling by myself and because of this I would also like to be involved in many of the planned events. I think having custom shirts is such a cool idea! I am in for one no matter what the design.

Hello again... here I am jumping in late as always... ;)

Janis:
I'm really surprised Bob (of BobandLee) didn't jump on that comment I made.... Hey BOB... you're slipping..... :sad2:

Here's my vote:
Number 1...
. although I love the green/brown, I can live with blue. Like just Mickey and Minnie... but Fab 5 is okay too. Just not a duck fan... ;)

Like the banner with the Tiki etc but I am NOT a yellow person if the whole shirt ended up being yellow. Like the character representations on that though, they're cute.

CruznLexi... did you say you have that in wallpaper border?? Where did you find it???

:dance3:ONLY 284 MORE DAYS!!! :dance3:

Would love any shirt style that is chosen. It represents all the friends that we have made on this thread. The Disboard activities are important to us and we like to take part in all that we can.
Speaking of activities- did anyone sign up to organize a pajama breakfast? We did it on the PC and it was a lot of fun. Everyone came in some type of Disney character tee shirt and either shorts or sweatpants. We were seated in one area of the restaurant. I think it was like 9am. Does anyone that was there remember any other details?

I organised it on the 2010 WBTA, that is the photo from ours above that John took (Noel's other half). Those are my 2 girls sitting in the front on the left. :goodvibes
Anyhoo, was going to volunteer again, but see someone is already doing it. Probably better anyway, this baby brain is not working very well!:eek::eek:

Selling merchandise with Disney characters on the ship might bring out the Disney copyright police.

uh, oh! Don't tell anyone about the fishextenders I made about 5 years ago, and the Disers who wanted them PAID me for them!!!!! They were disney themed!!!! Let's just keep it under our hat, ok?:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Hey Roomie - {Tina}
Im still alive haha. Miss you too

:wave2: Lindsay !

Good one ! :lmao::lmao:

Thank you so very much. You are very sweet, but there HAS to be some place nearby with all the hotels near there. I'll just check at the desk when I check in...they will most likely know of something...if not, I pick up the smartphone and start Googling!!! :woohoo:

Thanks so much! :goodvibes

I am in the same boat.:) I have stayed there before and I should know but don't. I think they offer a shuttle ? I will give them a call and let you know what I can find out.:)
