April 29, 2012 ~ Aloha! ~ Wonder to Hawaii- who is with me?

OK....I know that val and I have already chatted about this offline in a PM....but I have to ask the general question----does anyone else think it's wierd that Daisy gets to wear a shirt in her hawaiian garb but that Minnie is basically topless?! And that in Minnie's pose with her arms to her side and her lei "blowing in the breeze" she really is kind of flashing the crowd?! I mean Ariel at least gets sea shells for modesty! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Seriously, though....I still like #3 best....but now that I've seen the "shirt" layout of the blue version with the trim along the bottom, that one totally works for me, too.

And, Val, obviously put me & Jason down as two more boys who would have worn (and loved) that pink Minnie version----and I bet the champagne girls would have been gaga over it, as well! ;)

I have to agree with Erik. How come Minnie isn't wearing a top? I didn't think this was that kind of cruise. :lmao: Maybe the girls can get the pink shirt and the guys can get a different one. I know alot of men who wouldn't have a problem wearing the pink one. Seriously, I still like #3. I also like the new revamped one with the bottom with the huts because it breaks it up. But either will be fine with me. I'm easy. :rotfl2:

Bev

I will be updating all the hotel prices as soon as Candy Cane calls me back.

And i just looked at the image again....even Goofy gets a coconut bra. I think Minnie should talk to her agent immediately....because something clearly went terribly awry at the hawaiian photo shoot!!! :rotfl2:

o.k are you guys trying to sway votes to number 3 ?:rolleyes1 JK you are cracking me up.:rotfl2: I don't think I will ever look at Minnie the same way again.:rotfl:

I think it is great that so many of you like the idea of getting matching shirts.
However, just like the champagne girls, lanyards, FE, secret Mickey exchange and all the other activities the
group may come up with we don't all sign-up for all of them. That doesn't make anyone less of a member of our group.
So I hope no one feels any pressure to sign-up for anything they don't want to.

We can change the characters on any of the designs. I know that is not a problem with the company making them.
In fact we should be very sure we like the logos and text we sent them. I have no problem with changing any of the designs.
I found ones I thought went with the fabric design for some and for others I tried to use the ones that Brooklyn had come up
with, because I thought they were very good and it gave us some continuity.
Here are some others we can look at using.

Well said Val.:thumbsup2 Nobody should take anything personal. I think it's great to voice one's opinion but if it doesn't go your way and goes the way of the majority then you just need to decide for yourself if you will participate or not.

I LOVE this border !!!! I am sure I am going to be happy with whatever is decided. I know how much time and effort that is going into this. Thank you very much !!! :wizard: This really is getting me all excited all over again for this cruise.

Minnie sure is a bit of a rudie nudie isn't she?:lmao:

:lmao::lmao:

I think Val has mentioned that from a cost standpoint that she wants just one pattern. Plus, from a statistical management, having to manage multiple designs would be a real headache!

Just my thoughts...

:thumbsup2 Not to mention we were getting matching shirts to match right ?

I understand the cost maybe more, but I am willing to pay more for something I like than pay zero for something I do not like. Also I would concider buying more than one if there were more than one option. So that equals more money for the company and I know they will like that.

Sorry but I don't agree. If the price point goes up because of multiple shirts then I think less people would buy due to cost.

No...actually it can't have anything to do with option #3 because if you look at that option...Minnie is topless there, too....she's just being a bit more discreet because her lei hasn't floated quite as high and her right arm is kind covering her bosom.....clearly Minnie was going through a "Mouses Gone Wild" phase when she was on vacation to Hawaii!! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Oh great just what I need another visual ! :lmao::lmao: You really are having me look at Minnie in a whole new way. Look below at border and I see her dressed but looks like she had to many pina colada's. She also has that come hither look.:rolleyes1 :rotfl:

You know what. I was thinking. As great as it would be to have a shirt, I am going to pass. There are just to many nice ones. Right now I could say I would buy 3 of them. But since it will be down to one obviously because so many want matching shirts I am out. I just don't want to want to be stuck with something I don't want. Oh well :(

Please don't over stress yourself to meet everyones prefs, it's impossible. So impressed by all you have done. Go with it DISers will support you:yay::yay::yay:

Alan, you might just like the one that is chosen. Wait and see.

Your right. The problem is I really like 3 of them and I really want them. So the only way for me not to be disappointed in my purchase is to not get one. I will put the money to my bar bill or the trip to Bevmo right before we sail.

That is a shame then if you would like three of them. Bar bill is a good alternative though!!! Where is Bevmo?

Bevmo is a discount liquor store that offers a variety of wines, beer, cheeese, bar accessories etc. from around the world. If you click on the link, you can get an idea of what they sell.

Nancy and I will probably be picking up our "goodies" there before we cruise.

See that is why I was hoping people would get over the matching shirt thing as there are so many to choose from. That's alright I have plenty of Disney Hawaiian shirts anyway. I will admit that I am really disappointed and have even had second thoughts now of even wanting to continue to be apart of this group. The closest Bevmo to me is way down about 15 miles south from the Airport unless they opened a new one I don't know about.

Are we even allowed to bring any drink stuff or outside food on board? I've been on other cruises (other cruise lines) and they warned that all food and beverage items being brought onto the ship would be confiscated and returned at the end of the cruise. Any alcohol wanting to be used while on board would be subject to the cruise line's "uncorking" charge which was quite steep, so it didn't seem worth it. Is DCL different? Or am I just missing the definition of your "goodies"? :confused3 TIA for any info here.

DCL does allow you to bring alcohol on board as long as it is in your carry on. If you take a bottle of wine to the dining room, then you have to pay the uncorking charge, but is perfectly acceptable to bring a glass of wine to dinner and there is no charge for this.

LOVE LOVE LOVE it, Now that says Hawaiian fun in the sun WAAYYYYY more than the other dull number 1. Can't we use this on a yellow background shirt as a border? Can we just try it? Is anyone else handy with this stuff that can give Val a hand, I wish I knew how to? I'm sure Val wouldn't mind if others mocked some up.

I love love LOVE (:love::love:) the top one----both the characters and the color scheme. I think a hawaiian shirt with a flower pattern in those colors as the top and even with that actual image as a border along the bottom would look fantastic!

AGREE 100%. Let's get this thing mocked up! :goodvibes
Now, I'm excited, have to admit, wasn't excited by the other one in the least!
But will go with the group, of course, majority wins. ;)

I will admit that I am really disappointed and have even had second thoughts now of even wanting to continue to be apart of this group.

Nobody is making you stay?
I'm not sure if your typing just doesn't translate well, but you often sound a little unhappy and disappointed on the Disboards. Is it just this group?
Because, We all happy and working with each other and not everyone can get their own way. Please don't be a part of the group if your not happy. ;)

I seem unhappy because all I see, and again this may get lost in translation because it is typed and not spoken, but from my perspective there is a lot of closed mindedness going on. Maybe it is the way my mind is interpering posts but I will say one thing, thanks for helping me make up my mind. I think I just maybe out of here after this post. I am going to cool off and steep back and gather my thoughts and then make a firm decision. Oh and to answer your question, yes it is just this group as of late that is making me feel thus way.

Hi ... know I have been away a while ... but wondering if the Hawaiian shirt poll is still available, or if it is closed? Can someone point me to the post with the options? Thanks. Where do we sign up if we want to order some? Thanks.

Corinna

Corinna has stated it perfectly! Nancy and I plan to bring our wine and spirits for the journey on board. We will get fresh glasses every night from our room steward to take a glass of wine to dinner.

I totally agree with this post. I too, love this new design. It's brighter, more Hawaiian looking. The Disney characters really stand out. It's awesome. I think we should all thank Val for all the hard work and time that she has put into ALL of these great designs. I will support her and love the idea of wearing matching shirts. I think it will be lots of fun. My DD who is also going on this cruise doesn't like the idea of matching shirts so she probably won't participate. It doesn't matter. We are here to have fun.

I'm here to have fun; make new friends; see old friends; participate in some things (maybe not all) but girls just want to have fun. The DISBOARDS :surfweb: is MY escape from reality. I look forward to the fun posts (about a topless Minnie) :rotfl2: I look forward to learning from others; getting to know others; :grouphug: sharing good times and bad times. It's thru the DISBOARDS that I have made some everlasting friendships. Hopefully, we can all bring back the fun and not create stress.
