Corinna, didn't you and your husband do one?
We had a vow renewal booked for our Mexican Riviera Cruise in October, but then all the people who we wanted to be there had to cancel for one reason or the other and we could not justify the cost for just the two of us. Essentially the amount that we would have paid for this including a photo package pays for this cruise.
I had pretty much given up on the idea of a vow renewal when Graham suddenly suggested that maybe we should reconsider Crystal Cathedral. When we first discussed having a vow renewal in 2006, this was the intended venue. When Graham suggested this, I kind of ignored it. The aborted vow renewal on the Wonder had cost too much time and effort and caused a lot of heartache. Still, my subconscious was continuing to mull it over. About a week later, I decided to send the wedding coordinator at Crystal Cathedral an email and this was all very positive. We agreed to do a very low key vow renewal in the office of one of the pastors and then we have the run of the grounds for photos. We just have to pay the fee for the pastor, which is good value. I have also reached out to a photographer in Garden Grove. The vow renewal will take place on October 9th at 1 PM, which is the same day we get off the Wonder. It is going to be a bit hectic, but we can do it. We have two dear friends in Los Angeles, who we met on our Med cruise last year. They will come and get us from the port and will attend our vow renewal. We will then go back to our hotel to have a nice meal and I can even order a custom celebration cake. So this is all working out nicely.
Hello everyone, My daughter (19) and I will be going on this cruise. Paid our deposit today. I may end up adding my mother and my son (16). When I told my mom that I had booked and it was sold out she got all sad looking and said she had always wanted to go to Hawaii. We will be celebrating my daughter's graduation from beauty school on this trip, she also wants to visit Rodeo Drive prior to the cruise. I don't know if my purse can handle that as she loves to spend money. I am so excited and looking forward to this trip. I look forward to getting to meet lots of new people.
Welcome on board.
Hmmmmmmm.....
DCL should offer vow renewals at the new DVC resort!
(bet they'd charge a pretty penny for that!)
.
They are. The minimum spend for this is $4000 to include the ceremony fee and catering.
We're going!!! We're a family of five from Myrtle Beach, SC. This will be our first sailing with DCL and what a great first sailing it will be!!! We were planning Hawaii with a stop in
Disneyland for 2017 but when this announcement came out we had to go for it! We ended up booking two rooms instead one suite for our family of 5 since it was about $5000 less.
Welcome on board.
Tony and I will be on your TEAM

and we will be at the vow renewal
I have no problem with people forming teams, but the format does not lend itself as readily to this as the one we did on the PC cruise. My version is designed that it can be done in small chunks throughout the cruise and some of the things or photos to be collected will have to be done while in port.
UK cruisers---DH and I going to London for first time. What should I not miss??? Going to be there six days before flying to Barcelona for WBTA. I love long cruises.

There is so much to see and do. A great way to get a first impression is to spend a day on one of the Hop On Hop Off buses. I think they also do 48 hour tickets and most tickets include a boat tour and various walking tours.
One of my favourite spots in London is Covent Garden. You can also work from there via Shaftesbury Avenue to Piccadilly or take another walk that takes in Trafalgar Square and Leicester Square.
Another area that is nice to just walk around in is the Docklands. There is a very pleasant walk to be had near the Excel Centre.
I would recommend taking in a show if you can. There are often heavily reduced tickets available on the day. My favourite show in London is Les Miserables.
If this is your first visit, I recommend a trip to Harrods. I have never seen anything like this anywhere else in the world. I could quite happily spend half a day in the foodhall alone.
The Natural History Museum, Science Museum, Tate Gallery and Tate Modern are all worth a visit. Tower of London, St. Paul's Cathedral and Westminster Abbey are also well worth a visit, but they are pricey.
One of our favourite attractions in London is Vinopolis, which is an interactive wine museum with wine tastings and it is a lot of fun. This can be combined with a walk along the South Bank of the Thames, which is very pretty.
Another tourist attraction that is on the South Bank and is great fun is the London Eye. You can also get various combination tickets that either include a river tour, Madame Tusseauds, The London Dungeon and the London Sealife Aquarium or various combinations of those.
One tip that I can give you is to invest in an Oyster Card if you intend to use public transport. It costs GBP2 to buy and then you just load it with cash or credit card. Every time you use the underground, the Docklands Light Railway or a bus, you just swipe it and it deducts the fare. The fares are discounted and there is also a daily cap.
Well, Mum finally decided she'd rather be sea sick than have to listen to me going on about going to Hawaii on DCL for the next year so I've asked our TA to add her to our reservation.
It's great that your mum has decided to come along.
We're in. Marilyn and John, wrinklies and proud Old Geezers!! Well only 'in' as far as we have a reservation. Still have to convince John, find some serious money, and stay well!!! How could we NOT cruise with so many old friends.
Welcome on board. I am glad that you have decided to come along. At this rate our WBTA UK Reunion will turn into a planning meeting for this cruise.
