I have the whole cruise off but Friday the 11th, I told them I would be in Hawaii and they said policy is one person off per day.

I guess I will have to call in sick from Hawaii, because I do not think I am going to make it for one day.

:rotfl2:

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM! All my ADO's were authorized except April 28. I sent out an email asking someone to take my shift, but we don't get our schedule until the Sunday before (a week out) If nobody can work that Saturday for me, I feel a dread disease coming on already......vacation flu!

:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

For anyone shipping stuff out to California prior to departure, what method are you using (FedEx, UPS, USPS) and how much does it cost? I was thinking of shipping some of my FE gifts and other items prior to the cruise.

Our son is 5 and also an only child. So, I hope we all get a chance to meet up at the DIS Meet or something as it would be great for him to get to make some buddies before venturing to the kid's club for the first time.

We're driving up to LA from San Diego so we won't arrive until the morning of the 29th.

Are you doing Main Dining? If so, you can sign up to link to the Main Dining group by sending a PM to PaulaSillers. We are and think it will be great fun to eat along with other DISers - esp those with similarly aged kids!

See you onboard!
Stephanie

I will be traveling with my son by myself, he turns 5 at the end of May. He is really excited for the Kids Clubs and to meet new friends. We're not on main dining, but maybe we can set up a time to meet up?

Hope this is not a repeat of already posted info - I checked the last few pages & didn't see anything.

We received an email from DVC yesterday. They are doing a tour to Aulani for DVC members only (& their travelling parties). It is complimentary. They will provide transportation to & from Aulani and give a 90 minute guided tour around the resort. Tour departures are every 1/2 hour from early morning to mid afternoon (with a break of about 3 hours in the middle with no tours).

Sure beats the $400 excursion if you just want to see Aulani!

Debbie

Hum, last we heard it was any plant material....we have been having some real pests coming through in leaves -- we did bring back an orchid from Hawaii which was packed for export (no soil medium) with the AGRO sticker, and had no problem. I also heard that you could not take flowers onto Hawaii.....have not read up on that rule recently.

Our last cruise to Hawaii was on Holland America and they did not give leis but we were on a AAA concierge booking and AAA gave all of us with them fresh leis. Some of the people did wear them in Hawaii...we were not offered any at any ports even though it was a once a year only cruise at the time. We did get a fresh lei at a luau which was great because original one was toast by then.
So I think if we want fresh leis we need to buy our own :sad1: If we were sailing out of Seattle there is a Hawaiian store that is a lot more reasonable than Disney price... Hmmm wonder if there is a store like that in LA area. Be great if we could pre-order and have delivered to hotel that morning or even the night before. Try to remember to check that out later when I have time.

I am wondering how long the orchids are going to last on a lei and hair clip. From what I've read online, they can last UP TO 5-days if you keep it cool and mist it. I don't know if I can spend $55 for a clip and lei and only get to wear it for one or two dinners! I'm hoping Disney will have a solution to this!

They look very yummy.

This may well happen. When were doing the first Med in 2010, all the ports gave us a royal welcome and had some kind of performance or display to introduce us to the local culture. So I would not be surprised if we were welcomed with leis at one port at least.

I have to say, I am not to bothered about the leis, but I am seriously considering getting an orchid hairclip through DCL.

Corinna

I only make them on Valentines Day. It makes it more of a special treat especially since I can't have any but boy were they good ! When we were the first to dock in Colombia with Disney there was a royal welcome including the press being there. I would really be surprised if there wasn't something special in each port for us. :)

:rotfl2:

That is just wrong ! Hope it works out for you !

I just noticed that they have the Hawaii Leis up on the Gift page for the cruise at the very bottom.

In case someone wanted to see a picture.

Thanks ! I will wait to see if we get one or get one at the first port. 36.00 just seems alot to me ? :confused3 I REALLY like that hair clip though hmmm.

It was a lot of fun and much easier than I expected it to be. I'm holding out hope, that they do offer this anyway, I know a number of the other cruiselines do. BTW for those doing The Old Lahaina Luau they gave them out in 2007 also - see below.

Aww how cute ! Thanks for sharing. :)

They are out on flicker - got them from the "meet the Designers" on the boards
These are great Val ! My door is done, done, done. I can't fit another thing on it ! Now I wished I kinda waited a bit. :rolleyes1

Thank you so very much for posting these. We are very taken with Hawaii having been blessed to have visited there and we love the leis. I have to decide if I am ordering them for the cruise or taking a chance we may have them on board. I think if we do get them on board they would be the artificial flowers. We have the ones from DVC but not the same as real flowers....

Do you know how much you could get the fresh leis in port ? Just comparing prices to DCL. Thanks

How frustrating ! Hope it works out for you. Flu is going around. ;)

I shipped my USPS 2 day expected delivery. It goes by weight, sorry I don't remember how much I paid.

Val I love your new designs. You are so creative. I hope to get some things done for my door but right now I have to recuperate frim the surgery. I came home yesterday and I can't believe they sent me home so soon. I an very sour and it hurts to move. I think I am seeing some improvement in my eyes.I am so glad this surgery was now and not in March. I hope nothing interfers with this trip.

When my eyes settle down I hope to work on finishing up my FE. I will have to do the kids when we get this list.

Is anyone doing the Hana Picnic? We signed up for the canyon but I am thinking of changing.

We have not gotten any refund from Diseny. I might give them a call today

Hope everyone has a good day

I wonder if it will make a difference that we are stopping in the foreign port (Ensenada) before disembarking?? :confused3

In the past when I shipped to Florida I used a flat rate usps priority box - it was great (around $10), but some have reported problems getting their shipments on time in San Pedro....!

Thx, Debbie! It was already mentioned, but it never hurts to add info, especially for those who are just checking in quickly....like I often end up doing!! :rolleyes1 I would rather read something more than once than miss the info!!!!!!!!! :thumbsup2

My door is going to be a crazy mosaic of different desgins because I could not decide. Thank you wonderful DIS creative folks!!!

To all those recovery hope it is speedy and you are ready to relax very soon!!

:dance3:

When my sister sailed to Alaska on Princess, she bought some flowers in the Pike Market, Seattle to enjoy on board ship. No problem bringing on those bouquets. I would think we could bring flowers back on from Hawaii, it is the U.S. after all. I think I would ask first though.

I saw the Aulani email to DVC Members, and it is a nice offer. I don't think it would be quite the same as the excursion, though. It is more of an open house tour for prospects and does not include using the services such as pool, beach, etc.

We will probably pass on that as we have joined the Vow Renewal on Waikiki Beach..

I went to kayak.com to check car rentals in Maui and got a great deal (said it was today only) with Budget. It was $24 for an intermediate car (+$11 taxes and fees). I'm hoping they will let us drop off and pick up at the cruise terminal. The reservation said I needed to call them directly for that request. I haven't done that yet.

I just checked on this site and found nothing like that now :-( Will have to check it again later.

:rotfl2:

The absurdity of no flexibility to "policy" never ceases to amaze me. Of course you would be able to fly home for one day work, fly back and catch the ship!!

I am traveling with my mom and 2 boys.. DH doesn't have enough vacation to join. I will see what I can find in a lime green, but not sure how that will pan out. My email is my DIS name @yahoo.com.. Hope they boys can meet and at least become a bit familier with one another. We plan on being at the 3pm DIS meet on embarkation day, so maybe they can meet there if we don't catch up at the Candy Cane in. Are you doing DL at all?

Home Depot has lime green Mickey Heads in the paint department. :thumbsup2 Go get a couple of those and stick them on your bag or something. :)

Thanks for sharing. I just realized that the "hair clip" actually is a comb, which I can't get to stay in my fine hair so I will pass on this.

Good eye!! I completely missed that before...! :thumbsup2

Speaking of online orders, does anyone remember if the photo packages are a bit less $$ when purchased in advance on the DCL site??

.

They used to be the same, but you cannot trade up or down like you can if you purchase the packages on the ship.

Oh my --- I share your pain....we are still waiting for final time off for the cruise and are 99% of the way there........I hope this works out for you.....

I keep my fingers crossed for you.

I am glad that you are seeing some improvement with your eyes and I hope that you will heal quick following your surgery.

Hana Picnic is sold out. That was on our wishlist, too. We are now doing a Hana excursion that we booked through a Hawaiian tour operator.

I want to show DS Mike what the shirts look like, but I can't find that really good photo on the threads. Help!

Ah ha!.. Gotcha... Get a little free sample paint swatch from the Home Depot. I am with you now!... Thanks for the suggestion...

Hi all. Well our day in Honolulu just got longer. We are booked on the free DVC tour of the new resort. I know this is just going to be a long sales pitch but at least we will get to see it since we both know we will probably never stay there due to its high point requirements.
