awww... today the Magic is going to sail to the Eastern Caribbean and the NEXT Eastern will be US!!! It's a great feeling isn't it!!?? :woohoo: I am so excited! 2 more weeks!!

Karen, congrats on your new niece, I bet she's adorable! :lovestruc And welcome Ginny to the group!!

We are out to do yet more shopping, it never ends! :)

Randy,

I 'hate' (and hate is a strong word) the new MS Office 2007. The new ribbon bar is making it difficult (not easier) for me to find things. :headache:

I hated MSOffice 2007 too but once you get used to it - you will love it  hang in there!

Karen~ Congratulations on becoming an aunt again . . . it is always a great feeling when your own children are grown past infanthood, but you can still go back and enjoy holding a newborn again, I always liked the smell of a freshly washed baby.

Welcome to all the new posters here, it is terrific to see all the new names!!!

Today, at 9 AM promptly our doorbell rang, and accidently on purpose no one could answer the door, but Austin. Who opened it up, and told the guy on the other side, I hope you are from Make-A-Wish!! The backpack with the logo on gave confirmation to that. . . so we officially have ALL our documents and coupons, and more paperwork than I know what to do with. . . including luggage tags, (green of course!)

When we board, we should be easy to spot, I think we all will be wearing blue, the color of the Make-A-Wish t-shirt!!

Great news Patty!

I have one more thing to cross off my list - the name badges are all printed and put in my carryone with the sharpies.

BTW - anyone who is getting to the port early look for us and you can get your name badge early. We'll have ours on then so stop on by if you see us. Might as well get the party started early. :)

My plan is to arrive between 9:45 and 10am. I know Kay is going to try to arrive early as well - if she can dump her relatives ... LOL. Are many others planning the same: 10 to 10:30am?

Another plan I have (notice I keep saying "I have" - DW is too involved in school and doesn't want to bother with the details) is to have DD's hair braided BEFORE the cruise so we'll have one less head of hair to deal with. Last cruise we did this, but the lady almost stood me up. She showed up an hour late.

Once we get to the terminal, I'd like to get the paperwork out of the way and get our kids situated with the lab and club. After that, we'll have some time for a pre-meet if anyone is interested. Of course, I'll need to apply the motion sickness patch around 11:30am. Gotta have it!

Today I took the kids to see the Magic. This time I remembered to bring the camera.

The camera focused on the gate. This is ironic because it shows where we stand 2 weeks prior to our sail date. That is, BEHIND THE GATE. On April 26, we will be granted access in front of the gate.

Goofy preparing the ship for our arrival. Gotta look good!!

We will be at the port early also...the group we are staying with the week before is planning on leaving at 9am so we have to be out also then. It takes about an hour from the World to the Port right? So I guess we should be there by 9:45-10:00...We have no problems with getting the party started early we would be up for a pre-meet! Such a shame those frosty drinks are not available till we are onboard!

Randy - great pictures. She'll be sailing in less than 1/2 hour.

Hi Guys,

The last time we sailed we were at the port for about 10:00 a.m., so I imagine we will do the same this time. I'm all for starting the party early!!! See everyone in 2 weeks (or 14 days)!

I'm so happy for you guys! It is now official....you are new members of the Make-A-Wish Family! I notice you said you have green luggage tags....do you know what your cabin # is? Just curious.

Perfect beach weather, but beware of rip currents

For those who like it hot, today’s the day, with sunny skies and highs in the mid- to upper 80s in the forecast.

But for those who like it on the cool side, a cool front is on the way. Sunday’s high will dip into the mid-70s, because of a cold front moving across the country from the West. The low temperature will range from the upper 60s to the mid-60s on Sunday. Also, there is a chance of showers during the day Sunday.

Beachgoing will be ideal through the weekend, with water temperatures near 74 degrees. Swimmers should be aware of a moderate threat of rip currents.

RIP CURRENTS: Such currents can be extremely dangerous, dragging swimmers away from the beach and leading to death by drowning when they attempt to fight the current and become exhausted. Although a rare event, rip currents can be deadly for non-swimmers as well: a person standing waist deep in water can be dragged out into deeper waters, where they can drown if they are unable to swim and are not wearing a flotation device. Some beaches are more likely to have strong rip currents than others, and a few are particularly well known for them, the overall topography of the area being the main factor.

Rip currents cause approximately 100 deaths annually in the United States, more than all other natural hazards except heat and floods. Over 80% of rescues by surf beach lifeguards are due to rip currents totaling 18,000 lifeguard rescues a year.

Surviving an encounter with a rip current

When caught in a rip current, one should not fight it, but rather swim parallel to the shoreline in order to leave it. If you see a person caught in one, yell at them to do so. Floating until the current disperses into deeper waters is another method of surviving such a dangerous incident, but it may leave the swimmer farther out from shore.

Information, please? This is the first time we will visit St. Thomas, and I was wondering if most of the sightseeing can be done by walking from the dock. DH and I usually go off on our own instead of using ship excursions. We're mostly interested in seeing historic/natural places and shopping. Nothing too strenuous, or water/swimming related. Thanks for any tips you can give.

There is a small shopping area right at the dock. Most of the stores are duplicates of the ones downtown.

Not to far a walk is Paradise Point. It is a sky ride up to a mountain top with great views of the of the port area and the ship. Here is a picture taken from up there that shows the ship and the shopping area (the brown roofs).

Barring an accident or construction, your trip from WDW/Orlando to the port should be smooth sailing (pun intended) on Saturday morning. Take the "Beachline" (SR 528) straight to the cruise terminal. One hour travel time, even with the 3 toll booths.

Frosty drinks - do you mean WITH alcohol?

yes, we will definitely be there early, we WILL dump the relatives. I want to be at the port at 10am. I am a huge picture person and would love to take some pictures when not too many people are there. So we are all up for a pre-meet. Just a warning though, I will be so darn excited, you may all think I am crazy! pirate:

We have a question we are not sure who will be able to answer. We just got home from seeing Mike Super he did a show at one of the local colleges tickets were a whole 5 dollars. We are wondering if Mike Super and Gary Delena are still doing shows on the Magic

Congrats on that sweet baby, love that name. In 2 weeks we will boarding that lovely boat. In less than 2 weeks, I start my vacation.

I have lost 16.8 pounds this month, gotta get that 3.2 in before we sail. Wish me luck. This will be first 20 of many and I plan on eating on the cruise, it just feels good to know I can do it!

Are you doing weight watchers? I am in week 8 and have lost 12.2 lbs. (it was 12.6 but I gained (for the first time) .4lbs this past week). I was hoping to already be at my 10% loss, but hopefully this week that will happen....it not, then maybe the week before we sail!

See you in a few days,
Dawn
