April 26 - May 3, 2008 Caribbean Crazy Cruisers Part 2!

My bad! A friend of mine used to tell me to say only half the things I want to say - and then I'll only get in trouble half the time. :)

LOL, no worries :)

I still want to know if a high UV index is good or bad!!!!! I know it means sunny does a high UV factor mean poor air quality????? :confused3

UV stands for Ultra Violet, a part of the light from the sun. It's the part that causes tans/burns, etc.. why some sunglasses advertise UV protection.

Having a lower number on Saturday means the sun won't be all that harsh that day. :)

Well to me, sun is sun and I just bought all levels of sunscreen PLUS I've been to the tanning salon to get a base tan so I won't burn :scared:

I actually MARRIED my waiter from my cruise on Carnival in 1994...yup you read that right AND my child that I'm taking on this cruise is from that marriage...how do you like that!

to WDW and we will see all of you on Saturday. I want to THANK YOU ALL for all the tips, and weather forecasts and everything else. I have to say I am a better lurker than poster. Regardless we will see you on Saturday and if we don't make it to the meet you never know you are sitting next to... :yay:

If by chance we do make it to the meet, I would love for my daughter to meet someone her age 4-6, just in case she is in the kids club and she doesn't know anybody.

A BIG THANKS AND CHEERS TO GOOD WEATHER :beach:

I tanned in college a few times. Hated every single minute of it, but wanted a "base" for a FL trip. That was before all of the skin cancer info was out. Not that I would have listened. After all, I was an invincible teen!
mike just did an episode of the podcast about teen tanning and skin cancer and I was kicking myself.

Tanning beds/booths are VERY different now than they were years ago, you have to do your reearch first before making the decision. I am well aware of the risks of skin cancer (LOL, I am 44 afterall). I like to be tan, and I must say I'm lookin pretty good ;)

Good morning everyone! Happy Wednesday!

We are about 90% packed here. And Have gathered all the paper work together put with suite cases. camera bags memory sticks film and video tapes packed all batteries charged. just a few more things to pack tomorrow.

Yeah! It really makes it feel closer when the packing is done!

I've never been into the "fake bake". I did get a few bad burns in high school when I spent full days at the beach with friends. As a cancer survivor I've been much more careful than I used to be. I can come home from a cruise and hardly look like I've gotten any sun but that's ok.:thumbsup2

As we get closer to leaving (and some have left already) let's talk about pre-trip traditions. Do you have any?

We aren't ones to eat out a lot but our pre-trip tradition is to go out to dinner the night before we leave. The house will have been picked up by that time and all the garbage thrown out. Going out to dinner means we won't generate any more garbage, plus we get a start on being pampered.

yup. We go out to dinner too. Usually bob evans. And we do "pacing."
in fact, that would make a good pre-vacation blog post. Stay tuned to Pediascribe to find out what pacing is.

Our Disney vacation tradition is...and I'm sure our pre-cruise tradition will be...

Directly from a Disney comercial....

I'm too excited to sleep!:rotfl:

Three days and counting....

Rough week, crashed the car (I'm fine the hoods not - damn suv's with rear tire mounts:headache: ), too many meetings and not enough hours to pack, tan or read the boards...

Anyone staying at AK pre sail?

We arrive at WDW Friday - dinner at BOMA and then chill till we head out to DCL

CYA all in a few...

Royal Caribbean Cruises said Tuesday it will raise its fuel surcharge to $8 per person per day for the first and second traveler in a stateroom and $3 per person per day for the third and fourth, starting with May bookings.

The increase from $5 per person is in response to the escalating cost of fuel, the company said. The three brands using the fuel surcharge are Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises and Azamara Cruises. [me: Disney not mentioned]

Fuel surcharges cap at $112 per person for the first and second traveler and $42 for the third and fourth per person per voyage.

On April 7, Carnival Cruise Lines and five other Carnival Corp. subsidiaries raised fuel surcharges from $5 to $7 per person for the first and second in a cabin and $2 per person for the third and fourth.

Recently, the cruise lines had to pay millions in refunds to customers who were hit with the surcharges retroactively. Royal Caribbean reached a $21 million settlement on March 11, and Carnival settled for $40 million on March 31.

Port Canaveral is home port to Carnival Glory and Sensation and Royal Caribbean's Mariner of the Seas and the Sovereign of the Seas.

CAT DIARY:

Cat

Day 983 of my captivity.

My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects.

They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength.

The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape.

In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet.

Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a "good little hunter" I am.

Bas***ds!

There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of "allergies." I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage.

Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow - but at the top of the stairs.

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches.

The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released - and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded.

The bird has got to be an informant. I observe him communicate with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe...

For now...

:cool1:

I'm not sure how many of you are also following other boards....

I found this in a port listing on another board

(because I don't have enough posts on this board it won't allow me to do a hyperlink:confused3 - Not sure if it will let me post the cruise critics board here...check out their st martin port board)

It seems that the day we are in St Martin is their biggest parade of Carnival!

This post gives great advice for getting around the island, and NOT getting stuck in traffic...

They will be blocking traffic in Phillipsburg in the afternoon

Seems many of the shops also close by 2 so do your shoping early...

We're planning on getting our tour in early, coming back for a quick bite and then shopping...

We want to be done and on the dock side of town to get a spot to view the parade!:3dglasses

last day of work today!! :worship: I don't know how I will make it through, I barely did yesterday thinking about the Magic! :lovestruc Today is Administrative professionals day so our principal will get CPK for myself and the other office girl. Yum!

It's getting soooo close. I have butterflies in my stomach and all I can think about is seeing the Magic for the first time! And walking onboard for the first time. I am so excited, I can hardly stand it and I have tears in my eyes typing this!! (told ya, I'm weird! Don't say I didn't warn you! :rotfl: ). Getting haircuts for the gang today and tomorrow Kaylee and I will get pampered and get a manicure/pedicure. Kaylee wants Mickey ears paints on her nails! :yay:

I know I asked before a few days ago, but the online checkin print out, that is only the one page right? Is there anything else I need to take to the port?

Have a great day everyone! Anyone travelling today?

[me: Disney not mentioned]

Actually, I read one where DCL did make a statement. They are looking at the fuel surcharge, but the person said they were looking at only applying it to new bookings, not a retroactive thing or a flat cutoff like other lines have been doing. But they hadn't decided on anything yet.

Thanks for the lovely story this morning....I needed a good laugh to start the day, seeing how the hours seem to be dragging on this week!

Anyway, thanks for the laugh! See y'all in 3 days!!!

Well, the canary was brought to the bird-sitters last night, and the dog is going to the kennel this afternoon. We are ALL PACKED! Because we are taking all the luggage for DS and his family (cdriecke) since they are flying Friday, our mini-van will be full to the brim! Will probably need a can opener to get it all out. DH Bill is mowing the lawn, as it will be a foot tall by the time we return.

We are looking forward to meeting everyone. Thanks for all the tips and information posted here. It certainly has been a big help.
