April 26 - May 3, 2008 Caribbean Crazy Cruisers Part 2!

I bring my "animals" to the petsitter tomorrow after work. Have some last minute errands and I want to do a couple more tanning sessions (today and tomorrow). I'm also having my cleaning lady come first thing tomorrow morning instead of the regularily scheduled time so that when I come home my place will be all nice and clean for me. I'll start packing tomorrow night, I'm not bringing the "kitchen" sink since I'm a well seasoned traveller and have been through this many many times before. I have it down to a science and if I forget anything I'll just go on a shopping spree on the islands ! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Well, the canary was brought to the bird-sitters last night, and the dog is going to the kennel this afternoon. We are ALL PACKED! Because we are taking all the luggage for DS and his family (cdriecke) since they are flying tomorrow, our mini-van will be full to the brim! Will probably need a can opener to get it all out. DH Bill is mowing the lawn, as it will be a foot tall by the time we return.

We are looking forward to meeting everyone. Thanks for all the tips and information posted here. It certainly has been a big help.

Ginny have a safe trip down!

BREAKING NEWS: Victoria Walker was sentenced to 90 days with credit for the 32 days that she has already served.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A jury found Victoria Walker guilty of battery Friday, after deliberating for less than two hours.

Walker, 51, could have been convicted of aggravated battery, a felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison, for beating Aimee Krause at Disney World's Mad Tea Party ride last year. But, the jury chose to find her guilty of the lesser charge, a misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail.

The jury acquitted Walker on an additional battery charge for allegedly pushing Krause's daughter Amber, then 7, into a fence. It also found that Krause, 35, suffered minor injuries in the incident.

After the trial, Walker's son, Toney Phillips, said that he felt his mother should never have been charged with a crime, noting that deputies allowed her to return to Alabama following the April 27 incident. She wasn't arrested until July.

"If she had beaten [Krause]so badly, they would have arrested her that night," he said. "This was a common-sense case, and it shouldn't have gone so far." The severity of Krause's injuries was a focal point for both sides during the trial. Two expert witnesses testified that Krause suffered permanent brain damage from a concussion she suffered when Walker jerked her head backward by the hair, and another described how he performed surgery of both of her knees to correct injuries he believed stemmed from the incident.

But, the defense implied that Krause exaggerated her injuries, and suggested that she might hope to profit financial by seeking punitive damages from Walker or by suing Disney World. Walker's attorney, David Allen, repeatedly noted that there was little physical evidence to prove that Krause suffered from brain damage because traditional tests like MRI's do not reveal evidence of a concussion.

On Friday, Allen tried to introduce two last-minute witnesses who he hoped would be able to cast doubt on Krause's honesty and suggest and suggested she had a history of aggressive behavior.

The two prospective witnesses were Cynthia Kinat and Tricia Murphy, who are both administrators at Pine Ridge Elementary in Clermont, where Krause's two children are students. Kinat is the school's principal and Murphy is the assistant principal.

Allen hoped that the women would be able to testify about Krause's reputation for truthfulness in her community, but, after the information they had to offer, Judge Jose Rodriguez refused to allow them to appear before the jury, saying that the women did not know enough people who interact with Krause to be able to comment on the opinions of a "community." Murphy also said that Krause had behaved aggressively on Pine Ridge's campus, but Rodriguez found that since Murphy could only point to examples of Krause's verbal aggression, her testimony wasn't relevant in Walker's case.

After the verdict was delivered, Krause said she was happy with the jury's decision.

"I'm very pleased that she was convicted of a crime," she said.

But, after learning of Kinat and Murphy's allegations, she is reluctant to send her children back to Pine Ridge Elementary. Her attorney, Eben Self, said that Krause and her family are considering moving from Clermont.

"She has great concern about the safety of her children in the Lake County School system," Self said.

been out all day. Still out actually.
Bingo. After 2 hours, 50 miles and 5 different stores, we scored a pair of OSU crocs for KT. whew. A bit big, but the next size down was too small. Thats crocs sizing for you.
Now at dh's office waiting for kt to finish up her phone system voice overs. Then home briefly then back into town for rehearsal.
Pack? Maybe.

Kay - I have a page for each person in my party. Ok - that's four pages.

Step 4
Select "Continue" to agree to the Contract and print out the Online Check-In Signature Forms, which includes the Payment Authorization Summary. All adult Guests in your travel party must sign both forms.

[/B]

Randy or any other professional cruiser;

I only have one page per room, there is only one adult per room, so I only have two pages total, everything else was done on-line. There is no place were kids have to sign on my paperwork, is this still correct?

Ohiominnie,

I had to smile :teeth: when I read your quest for OSU crocs. My DS and I went shopping yesterday for an LSU beanie for my DGS Austin. You will recognize him by all of his LSU apparel - he's a diehard fan!! :cheer2: I smell a friendly rivalry brewing......

Just 11 hours until we leave !!!!!

Yup, only adults sign the paperwork. :)

KT's at rehearsal. I'm at Panera. Going to finish up some blog stuff so it autoposts nearly every day I'm gone.

I meant to ask - rehearsal for what?

She auditioned for the "Teen Improv" show. I figured she woldn't get in because rehearsals are only once a week until the end of May and she'll miss two of them!

But she got in anyway. Apparently b/c it's improv, one thing doesn't depend on the other as much, so they said fine. Especially since she has taken improv classes at the same theater.

And, good news, it's only two shows. Both on the same evening. And then DONE. :)

If you would like to start the party early, I recommend the luau at the Polynesian. You probably don't have a reservation, but odds are high that you can get seats on stand-by. Just bypass the long line and get your name on the list. Then wait. When all guests are seated, they will begin to seat those on stand-by in place of the cancellations. Honestly, the show is good (maybe not great) but they feed you a lot and the ambience is nice. It'll get your stomach ready for ALL THAT cruise ship food. popcorn:: hehe

We haven't even begun to pack (we do have a distinct advantage). All we've done is loosely thrown some stuff in suitcase. DW is busy studying for her final Friday morning. I told her to concentrate on that test and don't worry about the cruise. Somehow, she isn't thinking too much about the cruise. However, little bursts of stress do pop up from time to time about what she is going to wear. Then she goes back to stressing over the Final. I bet it's going to hit her like a ton of bricks the minute she finishes her test. I told her we'll pack - shop - pack some more - shop some more ... etc., whatever is necessary Friday nite.

We plan to be at the port at 10am sharp!! Group ONE baby.. :thumbsup2

Cya'll soon. Everyone have a safe trip and a fun cruise. And then, to quote a popular local bumper sticker: "Welcome to Florida. Now leave!" :snooty:

OK PEOPLE.....THE INSANITY OF PACKING HAS BEGUN!!!!!!!!!:scared: :scared: :scared:
No work for me tomorrow!!!
Gotta get the last of the laundry finished! :laundy: And the REST of the packing done!!!

The in-laws will be moving in to our house to take care of the cat and dog! :cat: pug:

We're ordering supper in tomorrow! No cooking for me! :woohoo:

So, if I don't have a chance again tomorrow to check in with this gang.....
BON VOYAGE and see you on Saturday at 3pm!:yay:

MORE CRUISE NEWS:

Carnival Cruise Lines said today it will base its largest ship to date, the Carnival Dream, at Port Canaveral beginning in fall 2009.

The 130,000-ton ship will accommodate 3,652 passengers, based on double occupancy, and will be the first in a new class of ship for Miami-based Carnival.

The ship is being built in Italy. Carnival said the ship’s itinerary will be disclosed at a later date.

Carnival did not say whether the Dream will replace one of its ships currently based at Port Canaveral.

Carnival operates the 2,974-passenger Glory on seven-night Caribbean cruises and the 2,052-passenger Sensation on three- and four-night Bahamas cruises out of Brevard County’s seaport.

I managed to get just about everything off of my to do list today. Tomorrow should not be too bad at work (at least I hope not). :) Then we'll be off to a nice dinner and to do the final packing and locking of the suitcases. We get picked up at 6 am Friday by my in-laws and by noon we should be heading into Orlando and meeting up with Karen and family.

Good morning everyone! One more day of work to get through. Got off to a rocky start for Mark as he got a call the boiler wasn't working. :scared1: Here's hoping it isn't too bad a day for him.

Still lots of little things to finish up here but I think we'll make it. This time tomorrow we'll be waiting for my in-laws to pick us up.

Deja vu!!! My DS, Austin, lost 2 teeth while we were on the Disney Cruise in 2005. He threw one in the ocean and the other...well, let's just say he left a piece of himself in the dirt at Medieval Times in Orlando! :rotfl2:
