April 21, 2007 -- Western Magic -- anyone?

No I'm not kidding about getting lost, usually everytime I walk out of my hotel room I seem to always pick the wrong way to go, my kids get a real big kick out of it. Surprising enough I'm better in a car..

Thanks for the threads thats what I was looking for...

Do any of you guys that have cruised before have any items that you would not leave home without?

Cheryl

Well I have our Palo reservations for the first night, I don't know what I was thinking so I will be with the rest of you guys heading to where? to change my Palo reservations and hopefully get brunch reservations too. I'm sure if I just look around and follow the crowd I'll find the place but can someone tell me where to go just in case I get lost...this being my first time on ship I don't think I'll be able to tell where I am for the whole week..I have a really bad sense of direction...So you will not need to have a picture of me I will be the woman walking around in circles lost for the whole week...
As soon as you get onboard, you'll come into the atrium (deck 3). Once in the center of the atrium, you'll turn right and head into Beat Street (the area where the night clubs are). It'll be the first room on the right as you head down that hallway. And, as far as direction, I know that on my first cruise, I had some problems figuring out where I was, but after a few days, I was much better.

:lmao: Phone rings, problems come up, I think about the cruise. People keep coming in my office asking stupid questions, I think about the cruise. Come home have to cook a quick meal, clean up, etc., I think about the cruise (and the fact I won't have to do any of this for one solid week). :yay:

Anybody dressing up for the Pirate Party? We have some t-shirts, if we decide to not do Palo. No full pirate garb here, though I'd love to see others dressed up! I just don't think I could persuade DH to do the entire pirate outfit thing.
We'll be dressing up for pirate night. A couple of years ago, I had my mom help me make some quick pirate-like costumes that were easy and pretty cheap. I just took white t-shirts and cut the sleeves and the bottom jagged. Then, the girls and I have black skirts and DH has a pair black pants that we cut jagged too. My mom made them for DH, but you could get a pair from Goodwill or Salvation Army and cut them up. Then, we have red sashes to tie around our waists. That's it, pirate garb!!

Ok, my do not forget list consists of things like:

over-the-door shoe organizer (for shoes and other things)
air freshener (for the bathroom, they're small rooms)
lots of sunscreen (it's expensive onboard)
extension cord (just in case)

Something that you can leave at home:
shampoo & conditioner (the stuff onboard is nice and I'm pretty picky)

DH and I are dressing in pirate garb that we got at the costume store or ebay. Got one for DD too if she wears it. Will depend on if the other teens feel it is cool.pirate:

I used the list that was on the boards and the one another DIS member emailed me. I got it ALL  Tried to think of what I didn't need. Packing for a week at WDW is a lot less to bring then it is on the cruise.::yes:: Need one large suitcase just for the pirate outfits and the dress clothes for formal night.

Love the pic BlueFalcon

:welcome: Laura1234, ctc917

List of possible people to meet and new friends to share talk about DISNEY with that won't say "AGAIN!?" is great.

I'm with you curlybob about thinking all day long after one problem is solves, DISNEY IN # days, then thinking in terms of HOURS before that wonderful vacation.

SNOWING like crazy here, thank goodness spring is in a few days!!!
Have a great evening everyone.

It is getting close now. Like many of you on this thread we are dealing with a foot of snow or more today. I am glad I have the trip to think about as I am snow blowing my driveway.

Key West - We are winging it. We are definately doing the aquarium and probably the butterfly museum. My wife's favorite dessert is key lime pie, so I am sure we will be sampling some different types. Also, we are thinking about the trolley. I heard if you book through Disney you can not get off, but if you book it yourself you can get on and off it at different places. Does that sound right?

Palo's - We have ressies for Tuesday night. No brunch as of yet.

Hi my name is Bill and I am a disneyaholic.

This vacation started out has a trip to FL for one week to do the cruise. I have now changed my flight added two days on the front and two days on the back. (Thanks Southwest, I have also saved much money with these changes). Here is my warped thought process. I have booked Key West -DVC for before and after. I only have 1 day of park hopper passes left over from another visit. Instead of buying an additional two day pass, I am buying an annual pass. With the money saved on the airlines I am booking another trip to WDW in November. WDW has got my number. Does anyone else think this way?

Everyones pictures are great. However, You only will see my signature pictures of my dogs (Brittanys) It is hard to tell with the picture so small. My family hides when cameras come out. I do not even know if we have a picture with all of us in it. So we will be the mystery family at the port.

CTC917 my daughter use to play basketball, but I do not know if she will play now. But I am up for playing basketball with the teens and parents. Maybe we could have a DIS basketball challenge. Just please no adults get hurt!!

Yes, that is exactly right! Book it on your own if you want to be able to get off/on.

Yep, we're the same way, but we live here, so it's only a 1.5 hr drive away. But sadly, we haven't been in the parks since December! :scared1:

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!

Well, we're back to painting around here today. We just have one coat on one wall left, and then one wall and we're done (but only with the above the chair rail). DH needs to get working on the wainscoting today, so break out those power tools!!!:lmao:

We are also thinking about November WDW trip, over the week of Thanksgiving, because DD gets 3 days holiday from school, so we would only need to take her out for 2 days. And buy the annual pass :thumbsup2 then, and go again maybe October 2008 (I love Halloween in Disney) or maybe before.

I would have also gone down to Disney:tinker: for a few days before the cruise, but DD is going on a class trip that whole week to Washington DC. She arrives home on Friday night, April 20 at 11 PM! :surfweb: Then we get up at 4 am to be at the airport terminal for a 6:20 am flight arriving in Orlando at 9:35. Should be a the port by noon?:yay:

DH plowed the driveway last night and is doing so now so that I may get out and go help a friend pick up her kitten from the vet - was fixed :scared1: and unable to get to the vets yesterday before it closed. Usually takes 43 minutes to get home. Took 2.5 hours! Stopped by Milano's Pizza first to get supper so I didn't have to cook:rolleyes:

Had plans for today, DD had a dance competition in Londoderry that was cancelled. Think it was postponed until next Saturday. Now I have no plans for today and have NOTHING THAT I CAN THINK OF to do for DISNEY CRUISE:crazy:

Will check back later to see what everyone is up to.

More power!! (Insert Tim the Tool Man noise here) :lmao:

Happy St. Patricks' Day Everyone! Thanks for the reminder. I need to go pinch DH since he's not wearing green. :rotfl2:

Have a great day everyone. I'll be back later on tonight to see who's been chatting it up & thread stalking today. ;)

WOW, Paula! Sounds like you're going to need a vacation! :rotfl2: I thought our flight arriving at MCO at 11 PM was going to be hectic! I won't complain about it anymore...

Well, I'm going through the packing lists that were posted and have come up with some things I haven't thought of before. DH will be so happy to see zip ties on the list! He has that great huge container with like 1600 of them in various colors/sizes. He uses them for everything! I had to email the Excel list to DH at work so he can print it for me, so I haven't gone through that one yet.
And Molli, I know you've had company the past few days, but whenever you get a chance, I would like the Excel list of DISers, too. I think I PM'ed you my info just as you were "signing off." Thanks!

BlueFalconer--GREAT PHOTO, TOO! I love the bench one in your sig, too! :thumbsup2 Our kids might be together sometime in OC!

The sig photo was DW's mother's day present. I kidnapped the boys and took them to the park where I proposed to her and took these pics with black and white film. When we got back DW asked the boys where we went, DS7 said to the park. DS5 said "... and daddy didn't take our pictures!" :rotfl:

If you want the most recent one, but it won't have your info on it yet, send me a PM with your email address.

AWWWW! How sweet! So are you a photo-holic, too? Amanda and I will have (almost) matching Nikons around our necks. :thumbsup2

Happy St. Patty's day cruisers!!

got a few mins now but i think my catchup will be mostly later :)

Val -- got you updated and resent the spreadsheet, also i called DCL and got your family linked with our group for dining. now, did you realized with late dining that we'll be eating breakfast about 8 a.m. if you go to sit-down

we are at Palo tuesday night -- hope they don't change Pirate night for us!

also -- my youngest, Paige is dressing up for pirate. her costume from 11/05 still fits and she is excited to wear it again. i may change her shirt just so the pictures are a bit different though? i have cruise pictures hung up around in my den

key west -- we are renting an electric car and just hitting some tourist spots on our own. key lime pie is a must for Paige and I :teeth:

stpatty2.gif
-- huh? they took my image away? i guess b/c i linked back to the website instead of saving it? oh well

Thanks, Molli! (And Amy, too! I got them at almost the same time!) :thumbsup2 I think you're talking about the last day for breakfast, right? If so, I should schedule the towncar pickup time for later. What would be a better time?

So I'm now going through the TONS of pages of designs, and now I know I want some. But I don't know how. I love the one you made, Amanda, for our "thread-stalking chocoholics," but I have found others, too. Do I just cut & paste to Word and print? KristineN's thread has some good ones, too, but hers and others with photobucket albums say they are for shirts. Can they be used for door signs, too? DO THEY DO THESE FOR FREE? I can't imagine someone being so generous to spend this much time making great things for complete strangers! There really are wonderful people on DIS! Thanks to anyone for helping me figure this out.

Val -- we have used FL tours and honestly they just tell us what time they are picking us up, so i'm not quite sure. I would imagine around 9:30 -- the last breakfast will be fast and then you have to disembark directly. you do have to allow some time to retrieve your luggage and clear out, etc; then walk over to the pick-up area. it's not far, but with luggage, kids etc.

are you talking about door signs? you can make them in Word, sure. i use my Adobe photoshop usually. are you talking about the forum for the creative folks who design t-shirts, etc?
