April 20th 2013 Fantasy

I use Seabands and ginger tablets to get me through my motion sickness. I used Dramanine one time and was asleep by 8 every night.

Now if only they matched my outfits better and looked less like I was working out with Jane Fonda.

Jane Fonda..lol Ginger tablets, I haven't bought those yet. Any chance they sell them on the boat?

I've never looked onboard. I start taking them the night before we sail. My DH usually picks them up at a Vitamin Store for me.

By the way, the ships medical facilities are AWESOME!

I'm glad you had good luck with the medical facilities. Back in 2010 on our very first Disney cruise ( The Wonder ) my youngest fell at one of the kids clubs. His arm was bothering him enough that we went and had it checked and x-rayed. At the time it was comforting to us to know that at least it wasn't broken. This was at the beginning of the cruise so we had several days left and one day at WDW when we returned. It never seemed to stop bothering him so when we got back we made an appointment with our pediatrician. We walked into the room and without even examining it he said " oh yeah that's broken". Not only was it broken, but it was broken at the growth plate. We took him to a specialist and fortunately there were no permanent problems. To add insult to injury, because we were at sea they didn't take insurance so I paid cash to cover the bill. No big deal I'll just submit the bill when I return I thought. Wrong! They had taken such poor records on board that the info my insurance company needed to reimburse me wasn't there.
So like I said I'm glad you had good luck.

Hey all, completely new to the board -- I literally just found it today while looking up cruise tips. This will be our first DLC cruise - super excited!

We're just a solo couple - a buddy of mine works for disney and got us a cruise.
We're both 30. No kids yet. Thought it would be a fun adventure.

Looking forward to running into some of you!

Hi, just checking in to see how people's trips went. We had a great time for our first Disney cruise. Not sure I would choose to do Disney for every cruise, but we will more than likely be sailing with them again. Thought they did some things very, very well, but there were also things we liked better about other cruise lines.

Had the best embarkation and disembarkation experience we have had on 25+ cruises. Was so nice having our luggage all together for us when we got off the ship. Also really liked being able to walk off whenever we were ready rather than waiting for a color or number to be called.

We really enjoyed the entertainment, pools, slides, aquaduck, etc. Kids hardly used the club because they wouldn't get out of the water. Spent a lot of time at Nemo's reef and the Mickey Pool. The kids also enjoyed seeing and meeting all the characters (saved us a lot of time later at the parks).

Thought the cabin was nice, family ocean view was plenty big, but the balcony was tiny. Mixed opinion on the split bathrooms. Kind of convenient, but also felt like I was constantly going back and forth between them for what I needed.

My biggest disappointment was Castaway Cay. I honestly have enjoyed Half Moon Cay and Princess Cay much more. It felt overcrowded to me and I guess by the end of the cruise I was looking for a more relaxing experience. We ended up going back to the ship before lunch and had a great time at the pool deck with the kids when it was much less crowded.

We had problems at dinner as well. Our waiters were not great to say the least and it had to be the assistants first day on the job. Luck of the draw I guess.

We did Disney World after the cruise and I think next time we do a Disney cruise I would do the parks first or not at all. 11 straight days of Disney was more than enough.

Anyway, we had a great time and definitely wouldn't hesitate to recommend or do another Disney cruise.
