April 2014 car rentals

Help!

April 17-27. MCO

Prefer a mini van, but at these rates will settle for anything with four wheels and an engine. Can't find anything worth booking as even a consideration.

Almost fell victim to a scam I am so worried about the price. Almost booked with economybookings.com when the price came up so reasonable. Then I found the reviews... they scam you by not charging the taxes and fees... and we all know THAT is what kills you on rental cars. At the counter people billed for double their costs and more.... and they charge you to cancel, it appears. Whoa.

This is very painful to report but I got a rate of $260 for a premium car at Budget for the week before Easter 04/12-04/18 (6 days, 4 hours). It was $233 if you prepay, but I never prepay in case a better rate shows up. The painful part is that it is through AARP. I am in denial that I am qualified to join:rotfl2:. If nothing better shows up before we leave, I will have to join.

Saved a ton of money today.

Had two Midsize (Toyota Corolla) with National KLM code for $697.00 each (04/15-05/08)

Today booked Dollar with two Fullsize (Nissan Altima) with Dollar using the City Code on the website for $336.00 each.

THAT IS $9.71 PER DAY!!!!!

Just sayin! Hope everyone else gets a good deal.

Thanks. Just tried it for 04/23 - 05/02 but it was over $100 more than the KLM codes for me.

I'm not sure how you got the incredible rate you've posted here, but it definitely gave me a rate way lower than I'd gotten previously. $269 (all-in) for a full size (Altima) from 4/6-4/12. That saves a huge chunk of change over the $401 full size reservation I had with Alamo. Thank you!! :goodvibes

Great deal!!!

laura428 - Excellent.

Look at the latest May 2014 Car Rental Thread. Looks like I am not the only one who got a great rate.

Keep checking and good luck! -ALSO - for those using Dollar - don't forget to join Dollar Express!!

Dollar city deal still no good for me. April 17-27.... pick up late and return early so it is 9 days and 12 hours... .$375 all in for the smallest car with a city deal, $721 for the mini van I actually need. Ahhhh. That is insane!

I'm having trouble with finding a car under $356. Travel dates, 4/12 to 4/21, yes Easter break. I tried the KLM code 8572130 and kept coming back "WHOOPS, invalid!" Codes I got from mousesavers.com for National all came up invalid. Best I can do so far is Budget for $356 and that is for an intermediate car. Was hoping to do better.

Lucked out on Friday (1/24) scored a Full Sized from Dollar from 4/26 - 5/3 (7 days +1) for $132 (car and taxes included). No code was $142. Used a 10% Mousesavers code to get the $132. Not a bad deal since most were running at least $300. :drive:

No code. Just enter your dates and then click on "city specials."

Thanks for posting! I just got an even better deal from Dollar than I got from Alamo a few hours ago.

TPA pick-up 4/13 and drop off 4/19 unlimited mileage, all taxes & fees $158.51 for a Dodge Avenger :cool1:

Watching Dollar but my rates aren't as good as what you are seeing. I am at $233 for small vehicle 4/2-4/7. I am surprised I couldn't get a better deal give that I am not surrounding Easter. Will keep watching.

I booked an SUV from April 5-16th for $550. I have no idea if this is decent or not but it seems really expensive to me. I suspect this question will sound dumb to most but I'm from a fairly quiet place and am under the impression I'll feel safer driving an SUV there. How is the driving? Should I just get a car for half ths price?

It is very easy to drive in the Orlando area, especially from the airport to WDW and in the WDW area. I generally prefer to have my husband drive when we go anywhere, but I've driven on my own in Orlando several times and had no issues. If you don't need the space, I would get a car.
