April 2012 code watch

I posted this in the "everything you need to know about codes" thread, but thought I would post here as well, if anyone can help!

I will be at WDW April 14-22. Of course, I'd love a discount!! I am probably looking into this too much and should just be patient before imagining all the "what ifs", but I can't! I am worried that IF a discount comes out, it will begin on April 15 (since the 14th is still holiday pricing). If that is the case, what can I do to still get the discount for the remainder of my vacation? If it is a room only discount, I know I can leave my dates the way they are and just get the discount on the nights it is offered. But what if it is kids stay and play free? We aren't planning on going to a park the 14, so should I just make that day room only reservation? IF we decided to go to a water park that day, could I pick our tickets up early at guest services? What about if the discount is free dining? Thanks for any advice.

yes, you just do a room-only res. on the 14th and start your package ressie on the 15th. I believe I've read you can pick your tickets up 2-3 days early, but haven't done it.

A friend of mine said that he asked a question on another Disney chat board about free dining in April. The response was that there has never been a free dining plan offer made in April in the history of Disney. Can someone confirm??? :confused3

Discounts are through March so that means we are next! We are going last week in April which overlaps May!

i'm PRAYING for Kids Stay, Play & Dine free, if not Free Dining. otherwise, I don't know if a room discount is enough of a discount for me to consider going. That would only be like a $350 savings for our ASMU suite.

How many kids do you have? For us room only would be best, followed by free dining. We have 2 kids so the kids play stay and dine doesn't help too much....unless I am missing something.

just made our dining reservations!!!:cheer2: only 180 more days! Still hoping for some kind of discount ~ preferably a room only.

Did you make them on line or by phone? I have made a couple, but I keep getting a server error message at the end when I try to do the rest.

we only have 2 kids but it still works out better than a room discount.....maybe I'm missing something? 5 day passes for 2 kids = $464. Not sure of the dining plan prices off the top of my head, maybe $20/day/kid for QSDP? So that's $200. Total value of discount = $664.

5 nts. ASMU = $1435 x 25% discount = $358 off.

:confused3

I made them online this morning. Have you been able to get it to work since then?

I am new to the DIS boards, so I hope I don't upset anyone by asking questions that may be answered somewhere already.

To get these discount codes, so I need to sign up for something on disney.com? We are planning on going 4/1/12-4/5/12, so ANY discount offered would be great!

TIA!
Barb

Yes and no. It has been "helpful" to plan a fake trip and order the cd and the customized maps. You may get a pin code (a discount just for you). For the most part, this thread is about the generalized discounts that everyone can use.

You aren't missing anything...the benefit of a room only discount becomes better if you are booked at a mod or deluxe resort because those rooms cost more. So in your case, being booked where you are, the kids stay and play and dine free saves you more. :thumbsup2

that's what I thought. But actually, don't the ASMU family suites cost more than the moderates? So even in the case of moderates the kids play & dine would be a better deal.

ETA: looking on the site now. The price for POR/POFQ is only $1013, so room discount for that would for sure would be a worse deal than the Kids P&D free.

I've never priced out any of the suites so I had no idean they were more expensive than a mod. So yes, in that case it sounds like a room only discount would only save you more if you were staying at a deluxe.

Could the number of days affect the savings perhaps?

For example:

More days = bigger room costs = more savings with a room only discount.

Compared to the kids stay, play and dine free where once you hit a certain # of days, there isn't much of a price increase for their tickets thereby not increasing your savings as much each day after the initial 3 or 4 days.

Does any of that even make any sense?? I think I may have confused myself! :rolleyes1

I'm joining the AAA (April Anticipation Army)! What is the better deal: Staying at Universal Resort and getting unlimited express pass or getting a 25% discount at a Disney Value Resort while also having EMH?

We're planning on a 3 night stay beginning April 15th and spending 4 days between Universal and WDW.

I'm thinking the crowds will have died down from Easter week making the Universal Express Pass less valuable.
