April 2, 2005 Magic-First DCL cruise-anyone going?

 My son will flip when he hears about playstation and another basketball kid. My son is Brandt and his twin in Alyssa they are both 9 as well. I also have a 5 yr old Olivia. Well 5 on friday.

Thanks for all your input guys. We did book our excursions exactly 30 days out and I also got a passporter yesterday. I am normally an overplanner but we have had a bad fall and winter with all 3 kids and myself sick, several times. I hope I rebound in the next few weeks as we will need clothes. HA HA

Anybody else choose late dinner with kids?

My crew will be dressed as pirates.....Mainly becasue we are a dress up house.. LOL... Dad too I think if a neighbor can find his costume. Me well ... we will have to see. I normally look dorky so why not.

My younger son Clayton is 8 - will be 9 in May and absolutely loves any kind of video games. Sounds like there will be several boys in the group around the same age....

I booked through Small World Travel and my documents were delivered last Saturday but I did not think to ask my sister how. I was just too excited that they had already come. :cool1:

Lucky ducks..now I keep running home after work hoping there is something here :( Oh well..way my luck is they'll arrive a day before I leave :rolleyes2

I haven't heard from my TA yet so guess mine is still on the way to him. It does help feel that we are soon going on our cruise.

Anybody else book a SPH room on Deck 5? RachelTori had booked the one right next to us - but she had to cancel.

Just bored and wishing my DOCS would get here!

Almost a year ago, I just happened to be in a Disney Store when there was a stack of Donald Duck tee shirts on the clearance rack. At the time, I did not know we were going on a cruise but I bought one for myself and ones for my sister & family and put them away for a "some day".

Well that day is coming soon. I am thinking about mailing them to my sister's house as if they are coming from First Mate Donald Duck and DCL to welcome us on board. But with a teenager, I am thinking about not insisting on a matching tee shirts scenario on embarkation. On all our other Disney vacations there has been matching tee shirts on the first day but . . . I understand that this violates a teenager angst principal as not cool. :cool2: I guess I will just be grateful she is willing to travel with us and try not to be too embarassing.

Hi, we are cruising for the first time with DCL in april. I am so excited. Will be hubby, 8yr old daughter and me. Anything I should know before hand? I have read mixed reviews. I am so excited but a little nervous. We cruised carnival 3 years ago and loved it. I imagined DCL would be even better. However some reviews are making me a little nervous. Help!!!!

Hi we are going too!!!

DH Bryan
DD Sarah 9
and me Regina

We are traveling down from Ohio on the 30th.

Don't pay any attention to those reviews. Someone had a bad expierence. It happens once in a while for whatever reasons. I know one I read sounded like an overactive child that couldn't be controlled. And even reading Birnbaums its noted that parents would be called if the child was like this. This is my first cruise. I'm going with no expectations except to relax! It's a vacation. Don't let the little things get to you! :) I think some of your fellow cruisers here have children in your daughter's age group. :)

Nope no docs..checked with my DU TA. She called Disney and nope..they haven't even been printed.

Lucky ducks who got their docs...are your last names near the beginning of the alphabet? Just curious if they're dong it that way ...it'll be awhile for me then :rolleyes1

Thanks for your reply. I just really want this to be a good vacation. My daughters bday is the 25th of March. We decided not to do the traditional bday party this year and take her on a cruise with her best friend and her family this year instead. So I really just want to make sure she has a good time. I can't wait to actually leave!! I have not got my doc's either last name starts with a B. Has anybody done the dolphin excursion? What is up with the pirate party. Back when I booked they mentioned a tropical party. What is it and when???

hmm..guess the alphabet theory wasn't right :(

Pirate Deck Party is taking the place of the tropical party (yep I had bought the tropical gear back when I booked too..oh well).

Correct me if I'm wrong guys...I think its Tuesday night after the day at St. Maarten.

Only dolphin thing I've done was at the Living Seas at Epcot. Honestly...its something you won't forget though. Our groups were fairly small (3-4) not sure what its like on this dolphin encounter. I'd say go for it on the island if you have the chance. Still have my picture of Rainier and myself hanging on my board at work :) I've made it a goal to do things I would never think of doing in my lifetime. Dolphin Encounter...check....going to try the 12 metre regatta at St. Martin. My folks think I'm nuts...they still can't believe I got in the water with two dolphins though! :)

Welcome Reggie :wave2: I have added your group to the list. I think this will be a terrific birthday for your daughter.

Just checking in. Seems like all those things I need to get done in March are sneaking up on me and I've been really busy. I am almost packed so that's the good news. It's kind of easy when you are wearing winter clothes and packing summer clothes. Makes it really easy to pack!

Yes, pirate night is Tues after St. Martin and then it's an early morning on Wed for Immigration in St. Thomas. Seems like that could be planned a little better!

I have something that has helped me keep all the tips I have picked up over the past year strait. I did a spread sheet with a column for each day and then list where we are, what times, themes and then tips that I have picked up that have to do with that particular day or port, etc. It has really been helpful and I will then print it out and bring it with me so that I am not trying to remember things or search lists of tips and hints that don't apply to that day.

SORRY, edited to say: Welcome REGGIE :wave2:
