April 19, 2008 - Western - VERY Early Roll Call - Anyone??!!

For those of you that know a bit about Port Canaveral, is one of the hotels more suited for kids than the other?
My DS is 6 and DD is 2.
What about Ron Jons? if that's even how you spell it?
It does look like some of you are staying at the Country inn?

Any info would help, we ended up staying with family in New Smyrna this past year, but I'm thinking about a place for this year.

I'm also concidering the Nick hotel in Orlando, but then we're across the state and would need a rental car again.

Thanks
Jeff

Hey Jeff. We are staying at Country Inn and Suites. Never stayed there, but it got good reviews here on the DIS and on other travel sites and I figure since it is only 1 night and it was 99 dollars..I figure it is worth a try!

I have heard talk about the Radisson as well as Ron Jon's...here on the dis...maybe do a search for other people's posts/threads regarding it.

I have heard NOTHING but terrible things about the NICK hotel....from various different sources....here on site, from friends, from relatives etc. One friend left the "resort" after one night. Not worth the money or effort of being so far from the port in my opinion...but that is just my opinion.

Hope that helps you out some!

You've got to be kidding me.
Just when I was getting all excited.
What kind of problems did your relatives have?

I'll have to search around.

Jeff

Jeff, we are staying at the Residence Inn. We heard good things about them. We LOVE them with the kids because they have two private rooms. I feel like I can stay up and put them to bed and close the door. It's hard for them to go to sleep if it's just one big room. Just something to think about. They also have transportation to the port, I think it's $6 per person or something like that.

Joan and Antoinette:

To eat or not to eat...that is the question. Since we are meeting at noon...should I plan on eating before we arrive or should we plan on getting something there together?

Thanks
Michelle

SORRY about taking over the thread...Hi to all!

Michelle

Jeff - I too have heard the Nick Notel is overpriced for what you get.
We are staying at the CI&S also. It was $99. As long as my kids have a pool, they are good. Last year we stayed at the Raddison. The pool area was great. Our room left a lot to be desired. It was really old. Also, I dont know what kind of detergent they use on their linens, but my DS woke up with hives all over his back (he sleeps with pj bottoms only). DH had to run out and get Benedryl. I was freaking out thinking they wouldnt let him on the ship.
Also, you should stay in PC just so you can come to the DIS meet at Grills on Friday night and meet us.:grouphug:

Michelle & Joan - I will probably feed my kids before we go because they dont like to slow down while we are there. Maybe just get fries or something. Soda is free all day!:cool1:

Anty,
I will keep it in mind, however, correct me if I'm wrong, but the M&G place is a seafood place? or at least serves a lot of seafood???
My wife is allergic to most seafood, tree nuts and peanuts.
Therefore, we don't usually go out for meals unless it's a fast food place or some sort of non seafood place.

The reason we're doing the DIS cruise again is this past April she had great treatment by the head waiter catering to her food needs.
(Her food always came separate, sometimes before the table, other times after.)

I have some work ahead of me.
This past year we rented a car and loved the freedom.

Michelle,Anty: I think I will also feed the kids ahead of time. I agree, once they get there, they won't want to stop! I will have a red/white bathing suit and have short brown hair (so you can hopfully spot me) See you tomorrow!

Fab time had here too. It was really fun..nice company, nice weather...but not so nice bees! Emily is already asking for another playdate! I had mentioned at the park the possibility of having all you guys over for swimming and bar-b-que, but I don't think it is going to work out...Our weekends are full all the way to labor day...and my husband likes to close the pool right around labor dayish. Perhaps after we all get back in the swing of school, we can all meet for dinner somewhere..husbands and all!

Great pics Antoinette. Thanks for sharing. I am going to PM you my email as well..I can email my pics of trip, but not get them here!

The website for T-shirts I believe was Zazzles, right? Do you remember how much the shirts were?

Catch ya all later.

For Disney t-shirts go into the special collections and you will see Disney.
I recall they were approx. $16.00 each, with the exception of DH's because it was a xxxtall. They were great quality and I found they ran a tad large, which was fine. :thumbsup2

We are off to Myrtle Beach Sun. so I will talk to you all soon. Hopefully the airfare will be out when I get back. Airtran usually releases prices before JetBlue.

It looks like they will both be hit hard. Jamiaca is just next door to GC and they are expected to take a direct hit. All we can do is wait and see. April is still 8 mos. out, so if they do get hit, hopefully they will be recovered by then. :confused3

Thats what I´ve been thinking too.Lets keep our fingers croose for them.
I really hope that it will not be to bad, especially Cozumel after just recovering from 2005.But Cat.5 Hurricane sounds pretty bad to me.
I hope, everybody has a wonderful weekend with nice weather.
Just finalized a short 3 night trip to Disneyland Paris for November to get over the Disney withdrawl.:woohoo: :yay:
Tkae care and lots of greetings from Germany

Count us in...

me, Nicole (32)
DH, John (27)

we're from MA but are soon moving to baltimore!!

no kids and this is our first cruise ever, so any advice (about the cruise or baltimore!) is very welcome.

:)

Welcome Nicole! You will get a lot of great advice from this forum. Make sure you go back and look at all the pages! We are first time cruisers too and my best advise, search the forum with your questions. At one time, someone as asked, I guarantee it! We also have a spreadsheet going - I'll add you too it. If you want to fill in the blanks, let me know, I'll be happy to do that for you.

Whew! Looks like Dean missed the Grand Cayman's. :scared: Let's hope the same goes for Cozumel!

I can't get into the spreadsheet so here is the info (as far as I can remember) for filling in the blanks:

~ we plan to arrive the night before, stay near the airport, and use disney transportation to get to and from the port.

~ we have the late dinner seating.

~ we are in room 5622

~ by the time we cruise we will be living in baltimore

did i forget anything...:confused3

I was worried about flying in the day of the cruise but I ordered Disney transportation to and from the port and I don't think I could cancel now. Staying in a hotel near the airport sounds like a good option. Where are you planning on staying and does it provide transportation back and forth between the hotel and the airport?
