April 19, 2008 - Western - VERY Early Roll Call - Anyone??!!

Colleen, No we haven't. It does sound like A LOT of FUN! I found the description of the excursion on Disney's site, but had to look elsewhere because of my daughters age. I looked at a couple of sites offering this type of adventure and decided to go with this one...and told Joan about it as well...her son was not old enough for disney's either. I don't remember why exactly I chose them over another though. The price was comparable to disney's as well. Join us! Michelle[/QUOTE

Have you heard anything about the Beach Break? It looks good for the money but I'm afraid of why! So many choices!!!!!!!:confused3
Thanks, Colleen

Come out to Long Island. I love it here. The schools are great too.
I've certainly considered it, but from what I hear, it isn't much cheaper. Any towns you care to recommend? Closer to the city (and public transportation), the better.

To those who sent pictures - my website is down this morning. Been fighting with that. So didn't get time to make page (and couldn't load it anyway)

TJeff - haven't forgotten the re-do of your picture, but been fighting with my website so couldn't get to it this morning. I'll try tomorrow.

Conny... you're not stupid (not my words.. yours.. see your previous post :rotfl: ). This thread is just moving so fast! I'm glad though... glad to be part of such an active group. Wonder what it's going to be like in early April on this thread :lmao:

mom_rules - I went to a Grand Caymen site (first hit on google) but didn't see the Cayfest. Do you still have the link?

frankiemal1 - yep, it's a fast moving thread for sure. And I still wonder what it's going to be like in early April when we all get really excited :rotfl2: Have updated the hyperlist. Let me know if any errors still exist.

All: request for info - any idea what cabs cost in Port Canaveral / Cocoa Beach. Joan, we're probably going to be staying in the Days Inn (3 miles from port) but that's not confirmed just yet. But wondering how much cab fromo the hotel to the port costs -- anyone have any ideas? How about cab in Grand Cayman (from docking area To Hell and Back Again -- sounds like I just came up with a title for that day's scrapbook page - I can see it with a hobbit looking font too! :rotfl2: )... anyone know? Also, what about Key West (although we'll probably walk there) but just in case, any idea what cabs cost there?

Okay, here's the updated hyperlist

We live in Merrick. It is a great little town. We are 50 minutes by railroad to Manhattan.

Sorry HYPERMOMMY, I have no clue as to how much taxi's would be. I would guess that GC is much more reasonable than Key West though. We are thinking we may rent an electric car in Key West. I have been there before and I think the place is pretty boring. We also may just walk around by the piers, get a key lime pie on a stick and go back to the ship and hit the pool. It is going to be a wing it type of day. My DD is having a great time PMing Joey. She looks forward to his messages. My DS is not as sociable and rather be more low key (like his dad). If he goes on the computer, it is to play a game  .

Everyone enjoy their day. It is actually supposed to hit 62 degrees out here in Long Island, NY today. A record. My son has on shorts and my daughter capri's:laughing: Just wish the sun would come out.

Oh, that would be toooooo cool!!!

Joey's having a blast too! I'm so glad they're getting to know each other before the cruise. You should see how his face lights up when he knows he has a new message. Hope she's not getting bored with the "all hail football" and all the stitches. He's such a hoot!

:rolleyes1 I guess I shouldn't mention that it was 79 here yesterday, huh? I was walking around outside with my arms outstretched thinking "ahhhhhh, cruising weather". But I guess I'd better not mention that, eh? :rolleyes1

frankiemal1: I noticed our children are pretty close in age. I have a DD who will be 8 at the time of the cruise and a DS who will be 6 at that time. Are you doing the kid's club programs?

-Joan

Oh cool! Yeah, it was pretty up there when I visited. But I'll take Florida in February any day (and yes, y'all can hassle me in reverse come September or October when it's still 90+ here :rotfl2: )

What town do you live in?

Denise:
We live in a town called Cos Cob, CT. Most people don't know the name, but if I say we are near Greenwich everyone is oh yeah, we've heard of Greenwich!!! Cos Cob is a town where alot of Italian immigrants settled way back in the day and everyone knew each other and/or was related. I really like where I live even tho alot of the old Italians have died off and their familes have moved out of the area. Luckily, we're still shielded and seperated from the snooty reputation that Greenwich has!

Joan:

I think my info is all set. I don't have anything to change. I do have excursions/spa to note. I'm not sure at this point who's tracking that, but I will put up another post. Thanks for all your hard work and you too Denise!:thumbsup2

Here is an update to my info:

Location: we just moved out of Brooklyn, but to make it easier just list New York, NY
Traveler 1: DH Buckly
Traveler 2: DW Sarah
Cabin: #7568
Dinner: Late
Arrival Date: 4/12/08
Arrival Hotel: Port Orleans French Quarter
Special Occasion: Honeymoon

Thanks!

Ok, I just looked at Joan's SS and noticed that me and DH are the only one's who don't have kids!!!

In any event...here are our excursions! We aren't doing much - our vacation theme is RELAX - RELAX - RELAX!

April 19 - Nothing

April 20 - Key West - Nothing

April 21 - Day At Sea - Sunbathe/Pool -RELAX - Well Being Couples Massage - 4:30P-5:20P

April 22 - Grand Cayman - Rumpoint Beach Adventure/Stingray Snorkel
(We currently have this booked thru Disney, but will probably change it to Native Way - cheaper, plus it includes a coral reef snorkel stop and a later start time) Also, there is a free snorkel called Eden Rock which is within walking distance from the pier. It's a pretty cool place to snorkel and there is a small beach to relax on for those of us who don't snorkel!!! Bring a towel or you have to pay to use a beach chair. DH snorkeled at Eden Rock the 2 times we've been to the Cayman's and on one of the snorkels, had a semi-close encounter with a barracuda!!! He also did some snorkeling off of 7 mile beach. Shopping in GC is $$$!

April 23 - Cozumel - Discover Mexico and Chankanabb - 10:45A-3:45P
(For those of who are doing Tulum or Caverns - both tours ROCK!!! You won't be disappointed. Wear your bathing suits to Tulum, you have an oppty to swim in the Carribean Sea!! Water is a little rough so you can't go out too far, but warm and crystal clear!!!) Also, if you love silver jewelry, Mexico is thee BEST place to get it. There's a whole strip of various types of stores right on the port. Of course, there are certain shops that Disney deals with, but I ventured in other shops and got great deals and gorgeous pieces. I'm sure glad my excursion is over in time for me to get some shopping in! Also, some of the stores have tequilla in them and offer you a shot!!! Maybe to get you drunk and buy more stuff!!!!!!!

April 24 - Day at Sea - Sunbathe/Pool - RELAX

April 25 -Castaway Cay - Sun - Sun - Sun!! - RELAX!!
(For those of you who are signed up for the Stingray excursion, my DH did this on our last cruise in 2006. He was very disappointed. The rays were around everyone when it was feeding time and then they didn't come near anyone for the rest of the excursion. It wasn't worth the $$ he said at all. Perhaps it's changed in 2 yrs as it was newly opened when he did it, but we've been recommended by many if you want to experience stingrays, do the excursion in the Cayman's!)

April 26 - Time to leave the ship - :sad2: :sad1:

We were not able to get a ressie for Palo's brunch. Didn't try for the dinner - we did it on our first cruise and it was just ok for us. Food is FAB tho! ;)

Hurray - another couple w/o kids!!!!! And it will be your honeymoon how romantic!

 Thank you - keep them coming!

-Joan

Joan:

I don't know if this matters on the SS, but we are actually arriving in Orlando on 4/15 and staying at AKV for a few days and then heading over to Port Canaveral on 4/18 sometime in the aft. just not sure what time.

Hurray - another couple w/o kids!!!!! And it will be your honeymoon how romantic!
I was able to comment that you weren't the only ones, but you beat me to it!

And I've cruised before and have never once felt out of place because of our lack of children. I think everyone is a kid themselves when they are at Disney. :yay:

This is quite true! I always say that to people who say why do you and your hubby always do a dis cruise since you have no kids and I always say, we never see any kids!!! When we look at graduation, we didn't realize there were that many on board!!!!

Looking forward to meeting you honeymooners! :bride:

Joan,
Thank-you for all that info. I thought it was like the real dune buggy (almost go-cart style) that you could cruise around the beach and other areas with. It still looks like fun, but I think we are going to skip it for now. Thank you for going out of your way to give me all that info and Have a Great Time!!
Colleen

Hi Lilo!

I don't have time right now to update the hyperlist but I will. I just wanted to pop on and beg you to post often so I can look at Cap'n Jack and his rougish grin as often as possible!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

how many people does the dune buggies hold??? I used to drive a stick years ago if they only hold 2 I guess i would need to practice a bit before we go:rolleyes1
