April 19, 2008 - Western - VERY Early Roll Call - Anyone??!!

Hmm, well I was about to upload some pictures but I noticed I only have 35 from the whole trip!!! Ugh, I'm so frustrated and annoyed with this new camera and memory card. I'm going back to using the old one cause this is ridiculous.

Don't know if this was mentioned but:
Cayfest
***
When:
17 - 27 Apr 2008 (annual)
Where:
Cayman Islands
Cost:
Free
Opening Hours:
Various
Cayfest is a highlight in the diary of every Cayman islander. With an array of visual arts exhibitions, poetry readings, drama and dance, live music and storytelling, this national festival is a celebration of local culture for all ages.
Recent activities have included street chalk drawing: children decorated the streets of the islands with their original designs and as the firemen came to wash the works away at the end of the festival, everyone changed into their costumes and enjoyed the hose down!

This sounds like a lot of fun! I'm kinda glad that we don't have anything scheduled on GC (other than going to Hell -- which may just be a preview of my afterlife to come if I don't behave :rotfl2: ). Where'd this information come from? Where/how can we find out more about what's going on and exactly where it's going to be?

Bummer!!!!! Hope you got something you can send or that you'll send a different one. What a bummer to find that out now :headache:

Denise - I saw you mentioned your DH is from White Plains. We live about 20-30 min from there.

Oh cool! Yeah, it was pretty up there when I visited. But I'll take Florida in February any day (and yes, y'all can hassle me in reverse come September or October when it's still 90+ here :rotfl2: )

What town do you live in?

I googled Cayman Islands and got their tourist info site.
Pretty informative.

So if I understand correctly you can use US dollars everywhere without a problem? Should we be buying Cayman Dollars?

What is everyone doing for currency in Cozumel?

Hey all,

Not to be a pain or anything (yeah, I know... too late, right? :rotfl2: ) but I'm starting to look at the kinds of things I might be able to pick up for the fish extender thing. I'm thinking these should be like party favor types of things or something like the things that Target sometimes has on sale for $1. Is that right? If not, please let me know. I'm just not 100% sure what kinds of stuff folks get.

Also, I noticed only a few of us have signed up to be in the fish exchange. Several folks have a "N" in that column (presumably "No" since I'm a "Y"). But lots of other folks have nothing in that column one way or another. Like I said, not to be a pain (yeah, I know :rotfl2: ) but if you've decided whether or not you want to particpate in the fish exchange but have forgotten to mention it or it's not correct on the spreadsheet, could you pop off a little message here informing whether you're in or out? I'd hate to get X amount of stuff and then lots of folks sign up and me not be able to get more -- especially if one of the babies (and yes... I still consider teenagers babies - so sue me, I'm a mom) got left out.

Okay... I'll try to stop being a pain at least for a while (yeah, I know :rotfl2: )

Denise,
yes, there is a bar in town called the Whistle Stop. Very good memory. Brewster is a great place to live. Central to every major city. 1 hour to NY, 2hrs to Boston, 3 hrs to Philly. I love it here.:thumbsup2

Gina,
I cant wait to hook up with you and Jeff. We are going to have a great time. Oh, & yesterday during our phone call we forgot to catch up on LOST. Sawyer is my dream.

Ant:grouphug:

NYC is the greatest city in the world IMHO. :worship: We go in for dinner on a regular basis, and yes, my kids have been to every major museum, landmark, restaurant, Broadway show, etc. I feel we are very lucky.:cloud9:

It's definitely a great city, but not easy to live here. NYC has a different way of everyday life. The easiest errands become infinitely more complicated, mostly due to the lack of a car. It is loud and dirty and don't even get me started on how expensive everything is...

It is certainly an exciting place to live and I'm never bored, but it is no place to settle down and raise a family. I think you have the right idea of living upstate a little bit. I'm going to look in to something similar myself when we are ready to buy a home. I can't justify paying $500,000 for a one-bedroom in Williamsburg when I could get a house for that just a bit further away.

Lets see if I can answer everything, this is just such a fast moving board that I have to think Back 4 pages.

OK we are originally from NY- both of us lived on Long Island then Moved upstate, then to Buffalo followed by Florida (about 20 minutes from Disney world) to finally call Delaware home for the past 3 years.

DD 7
DS 4

4/18 we are flying in landing around 3pm, taking a towncar or Limo to the Raddison at the Port.
If there is another small party landing about that time we could split the cost of the Limo.

4/20 no excursions
4/21 massage for DH
4/22 Pirate Encounter 9:30, I would also like to go to Hell and back, anyone know how far from the port Hell is?
4/23 Dolphin Discovery 10:45 (oops called it encounter before)
4/25 Glass bottom boat 12:45 we would have liked to have done the stingrays but DS is too young. he is 4 1/2 so he missed out on a bunch of the bigger excursions. oh well next time.
Palo 7:00
4/26 Limo back to MCO Airport

lets see here

2nd dinner seating
cabin not sure exactly which room paperwork is down stairs. somewhere in the 6100's I know its outside though.

OK I think I answered everything, if not ask again

Come out to Long Island. I love it here. The schools are great too.

Does anyone know anything about the "Dune buggy" excursion in Cozumel, like where you book it or cost of it and how old you have to be to drive?

Thanks! Colleen

Colleen: Joan and I are doing the dune buggy tour in Cozumel and the site we booked from was www.cozumelcruiseexcursions.com . The reason why we went with this group is because our 7 year old dd didn't meet the age requirement of disney, which was 8.

Hope this helps...I am not sure about the driving age..My dh and I are way over that limit in the age department so I didn't even look at that info! Hope this helps you.

Thank you, Michelle
The reason I asked about driving age was to see if the kids would be able to drive, too. Did you ever do this before? It sounds like alot of fun!
Thanks Again, Colleen:)

Colleen, No we haven't. It does sound like A LOT of FUN! I found the description of the excursion on Disney's site, but had to look elsewhere because of my daughters age. I looked at a couple of sites offering this type of adventure and decided to go with this one...and told Joan about it as well...her son was not old enough for disney's either. I don't remember why exactly I chose them over another though. The price was comparable to disney's as well. Join us! Michelle
