April 18, 2010 - 4 night Wonder

Hi Andy,

I wondered how you made out in this storm. It is still snowing here, but we only have about 6 fluffy inches so far (other parts of the area got a LOT more). It's supposed to end early this afternoon. I hope what you got is the light, fluffy kind of snow. The heavy, wet kind is "heart attack" snow.

Be careful shoveling it and stay safe everyone.

Ed

Just came in after shoveling the snow for 5 hours from the front of the house and the driveway. Yes, we also had the light, fluffy type of snow as well, thank goodness!!!

I'm ready for a nice long nap after a hot bowl of soup!!!

Looks like you did a lot of work!! And..... you did a nice job of cleaning off your DW's new car too :thumbsup2

Thankfully, our plow guy showed up an hour or so ago and did all of the "heavy lifting" for me (our driveway is about 125 feet long - too much for me). I went out and cleaned up the areas he can't get to and then DS did the front walk and steps for me. Another :thumbsup2

I hope you had a nice nap after your soup!

Just think..... 119 days from right now we'll be at the lifeboat drill!! :yay:

Took our DD for a job interview this afternoon. She applied at a gym/spa for a massage therapist opening and said the interview went quite well. The one co-owner she met with was pleased she came in with her massage therapy graduation transcript and a copy of all her certificates. He told her he would be talking with the other co-owner than would be getting in touch with her. We are keeping our fingers crossed. The only down side is, the gym/spa is about a 30 minute drive from our house, since she still doesn't have her driver's license yet, it will be up to mom and me to get her back and forth to work. Our DD took the written driver's test the other day and missed passing the test by just one question. :guilty:

Wishing her Good Luck!! I'll keep my fingers crossed too!

Time to hit the books for that test. A 30 minute commute isn't too bad (at least around here), but going back and forth a couple of times a day could get old in a hurry.

Yeah, that's how mom and dad feel about it, especially this time of year LOL!!! :rolleyes1

Just gave myself an early Christmas present and paid this cruise off in full!!! :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

Now ready for 1/3/10 and hopefully can book a Palo Brunch. :)

Wanna pay off mine too? I've been a good boy all year Santa Andy (well.... most of the year) and could really use an early present. :rolleyes1

Happy Holidays everyone

We received $$ back from the other insurance company, since the accident my wife was in, was confirmed that it was the other driver's fault. We took those $$ and paid the cruise off!!! :thumbsup2

I'm just hoping to hit the lottery!! Actually, my DW is supposed to get a surprise bonus in her next check, so we'll use some of that to pay it off. I thought about paying it off the other day, but decided not to - DCL has enough of our money already! Since we're staying in the Walt, we could have booked Palo, etc. on 12/19, but we're not sure yet what we want to do. :confused3 Probably Palo brunch, but no excursions in Nassau.

As of right now, we (Hazel and I) have no plans to get off the ship in Nassau(been there, done that). Not sure what the "kids" plan on doing. Since this is our DD's first chance to go to Palo, I want to try and get us a brunch ressie for Palo at the 105 day mark on 1/3/10. :upsidedow

We were just discussing Nassau this morning, and none of us want to get off. We considered getting a room at Comfort Suites so we could go to Atlantis, but decided not to.

I don't think you'll have a problem getting a brunch ressie at the 105 day mark. I have to believe that there aren't that many people who booked at the 120 day mark. Last I checked, there were still cat 3 cabins open and there aren't that many platinum CC members.

I was talking to Angelina this morning about Nassau as well, she said she didn't want to get off the ship, but since this is Bryan's first time there he wants to get off, so looks like Angelina will be getting off the ship anyhow.

As long as they stay close to the port area (or take a taxi over to Atlantis) they should be fine. Last month, there seemed to be a bit more visible police presence, but I wouldn't want to go too far. We did encounter a lot more aggressive taxi drivers and scooter rental guys than what we've experienced in the past - they did take "no thanks" for an answer and we kept walking. It may have been because not as many people were getting off the ships. By early afternoon, there were 4 other ships in port and a lot of people were heading into town, so the vendors may have calmed down - we didn't get back off, so I can't say for sure.

Well, the tree is down and packed away for another year, the rest of the decorations are down now as well. The house looks empty without all the Christmas decorations. I guess it's time to start pulling out the Valentine's Day decorations, LOL!!! :rotfl:

At least I can now say, "We cruise this year!!!" :thumbsup2

I'll be up at midnight tonight trying to book our Palo Brunch. Our DD's fiancee is really getting excited about his first ever cruise, I remember that feeling!!! :goodvibes

Our tree and decorations are all down, except for my DW's favorite caroler statuettes - she claims she'll put those away tomorrow.

We woke up to about 6 inches of snow this morning, and it's supposed to snow lightly all day, for more accumulation. Because the roads hadn't been plowed early enough, I didn't make the 25 mile drive to take DS to ski team practice today. He's not too happy about it, but he'll get over it.
I think it's a good day to light a fire and just take it easy.

Good luck getting your brunch ressie tonight. What time are you hoping to get? I don't think you'll have a problem.

We had about an inch of snow New Year's Eve before it all changed over to rain, it's ALL gone for now!!! :thumbsup2 Just very cold and windy here today.

Since I will be cruising with 3 people who like to sleep in, I am looking at booking a 12 noon brunch on Wednesday. ;)

Palo is booked!!! :thumbsup2 I got right on at midnight and had everything done in a few minutes!!! :goodvibes

When the page came up on the DCL website I had only two choices, either 10:00am or 10:30am, I selected the 10:30am time slot. Our DD is not the easiest person to get moving in the morning, so I figured the later the better. :lmao:

Wow!! I'm really surprised that those were your only choices. Either a lot of other gold CC members were on when you were, or there are a lot of platinum CC members on this cruise.

I'm glad you were able to get a ressie! :thumbsup2 Enjoy!!
