It was me who said 6:00 pm was a good time for the reservations, in my opinion only.
I say this because fireworks are at 8:00-8:20 - you do not want to miss them! It is a must do on a Disney Cruise. Palo will take at least 2 hours, so you also may have to say, let's get this sped up a little if you have kids in the clubs to get out prior to the fireworks show, to check out through the line and get up to the deck.
I am only doing Remy on this, our second leg of the cruises so I don't miss any rotations. I am not doing Palo on either cruise so I don't miss any more nights in the dining rooms. And yes, on Pirate night, there will only be the wait staff dressed as Pirates and a dance/song routine, which is fun, but Palo food is worth missing this for.
As Deb said, though, if you have a late rotation you COULD go and sit for dinner.... but I would suggest you will be very full, very happy from the wine and drinks they serve up there, and rushing is a NO NO in my opinion on these cruises - ruined my first one on DCL - will never let it ruin one for us again!
I think the fireworks aren't until after the 10:30 pm Buccaneer Blast show starts. At least, that's what I understood from the recent Dream Navigators. The 8-8:20pm Pirates IN the Caribbean show is sort of a matinee for the kids who are usually in bed before the main party starts.
