April 17, 2011 on the Dream

It was me who said 6:00 pm was a good time for the reservations, in my opinion only.

I say this because fireworks are at 8:00-8:20 - you do not want to miss them! It is a must do on a Disney Cruise. Palo will take at least 2 hours, so you also may have to say, let's get this sped up a little if you have kids in the clubs to get out prior to the fireworks show, to check out through the line and get up to the deck.

I am only doing Remy on this, our second leg of the cruises so I don't miss any rotations. I am not doing Palo on either cruise so I don't miss any more nights in the dining rooms. And yes, on Pirate night, there will only be the wait staff dressed as Pirates and a dance/song routine, which is fun, but Palo food is worth missing this for.

As Deb said, though, if you have a late rotation you COULD go and sit for dinner.... but I would suggest you will be very full, very happy from the wine and drinks they serve up there, and rushing is a NO NO in my opinion on these cruises - ruined my first one on DCL - will never let it ruin one for us again!

I think the fireworks aren't until after the 10:30 pm Buccaneer Blast show starts. At least, that's what I understood from the recent Dream Navigators. The 8-8:20pm Pirates IN the Caribbean show is sort of a matinee for the kids who are usually in bed before the main party starts.

I NEED TO WALK AWAY FROM EBAY NOW!!!! I am obsessed!

My son and I really, really want a set of Vinylmation Mickeys from the innaugural cruise and I am now willing to pay a ridiculous amount for these limited editions plastic things that do nothing other than sit on a shelf!

I need to be infused with reason and sanity!!! he wants them so badly, though! :headache::tilt:

:scared::badpc: Need to destroy ability to log in!

:o:cold: Must be the cold getting to me!

Have any of you been checking out the merchandise on ebay from the Dream cruises? I mean, not the stolen items!!!

OOooooooHHHHHH. I actually was just headed back to the Navigators to check that because it seemed weird to have them so early! My kids normally are struggling to see them, so it seemed like an improvement to me, but again weird. Wishful thinking on my part, I guess.

Thanks for the clarification - totally didn't get that! :flower3:

Sometimes, you just can't put a price on a child's happiness. :goodvibes Good luck! :)

such an enabler, Deb!!! :sad2:

My bid is out there, I just now need to stick to my limit! I am going to be mighty upset if I find these for sale on the cruise as everyday normal items! I am risking a lot going by what the seller's say of 1,000 LE on these things.

They are very awesome, though..... ugggghhhhhh!!!!

The good news is that each cruise I usually will buy most of what we want as souveniers prior to the cruise and only the really discounted items will we buy on the ship and have to carry them home.

I don't think I said this previously, but we have this amazingly beautiful very large tapestry hanging in our stairwell of the two ships at sea. It is a very nice piece of artwork, done like all tapestries and with a very thick backing and it came with the rod and mounting units. (our friends kinda think we are Disney marketing crazies or something, but I love it!) I got it for $25 on the Magic in a sidewalk sale!!!!! Normally $400! I love the sales on the ship - hoping they have some on the Dream also! I have a think hoodie I wear all the time that was discounted down to $10 and a cool beach bag for $5! I was like a kid in a candy store one early morning on the ship! :cool1:

So, hopefully this ebay purchase, if I do get it, will be well worth it also!

Especially with this short cruise vacation that has turned into a 10 day epic adventure. :goodvibes
We did the same. Let's leave sat for cruise wait. We have Friday off so let's do discovery cove Saturday. Let's stay at akl for a few days after....wait we have no school Monday. So let's stay until then. My husband still does not know how I convinced him to miss 7 full work days:confused3

Please keep us posted on whether or not you end up getting the Vinylmation figures. We're all pulling for ya! :goodvibes

Great job on snagging those deals onboard. :thumbsup2

We always start with leaving on Saturday... then I talk DH into leaving Friday after work... then that turns into leaving mid-day on Friday. ;)

Hmmmmm..... Maybe this should be another list...

Deb T.
and I'm pretty sure alenushka is going to qualify, too :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

I think 6pm is still a great time: i saw on some posts that Remy is a 3 hours experience :scared1:. Now, that you know you have at least till 10 pm, you can relax and enjoy it, even if it turns out to be 4 hours :cutie:

My "multiple post" button was clicked after lildeb's post, and then I saw Deb's. :lmao: How did you know? :confused3 :thumbsup2 :lmao:
We most definetely qualify! That's a story: we started with a 4 days cruise, then..... added b2b 3 more days, then, somehow, from one day pre-cruise we changed to two, and then :scared1: to four! so that we can visit WWHP; on top of it: since our cruise ends on Thursday, why should we rush back home? :confused3 Let's go visit our friends in Miami, may be till Saturday. Oh! wait a minute, we should stay there till Sunday and take an extra day off work on Monday :scared1:
I still don't know how it happened....:confused3 but I had to give up our Feb. escape :upsidedow
:grouphug:

I did not go for the final bid on the vinylmation set. It went for over $105 dollars!!! :scared1:

I still have one more chance in a day or so, but it's already way up there too! So apparently these really are limited edition sets! They are awesome also!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170600131796&ssPageName=STRK:MESINDXX:IT

I didn't get the Vinylmation but had been buying it for my son, and he loves them - the really unique artists ones.

You are very right alenushka! I am all about relaxing and eating, eating, eating! :woohoo:

Awww. I'm sorry to hear that. I'm sure you're disappointed. Here's some pixie dust pixiedust: that you can snag one of the other sets.

Actually because of Cass' (Timon) totally spectacularly awesomely terrific trip report I have now seen that they are not limited to the Maiden Voyage!!! WOOHOOOO!!!!! :cool1: I will get it on board!

THAT is wonderful news!

Just to be sure, though, I had a thought...
[at this point my DH would say, "Uh-oh! Run! Run for your lives! :rotfl2:]
If you want to be absolutely positive that the Dream will still have those figures, you might consider posting on several of the upcoming Meets threads - explaining how your DS has a big collection of them, that you'll be on the April 17 sailing and aren't sure there will be any left, and asking if they would be kind enough to check how many are still in stock... or better yet, ask if anyone would be willing to go ahead and pick up a set for you and send it to you. :)

Y'all are funny extending your vacations and not letting DH in on the secret. We're trying to figure out when DH will have hand surgery so he can still enjoy the cruise and not have to use vacation days, and still be able to go down to FL with us for at least a week after school and not have to use vacation for that either. We're hoping the doc will keep him out 12 weeks and that covers both vacations and he'll still be able to do things around the house down there. The only thing is he will have to give up the jetski excursion, but he's all for that to get rid of part of his hand pain. :thumbsup2

Wow - what a great excuse for missing work and getting two Disney trips in! Hmmmmm, I wonder what I could get operated on... :lmao:

Just kiddin'... I know it's no fun to be in pain , so hopefully this surgery will take care of it for your DH. Will he be able to ride the Aqua Duck?

I guess it will depend on when he has the operation whether or not he will be able to ride the Duck. I would think by then he will be fine, he's looking at one of the last 2 weeks of March to get it done. The doc is very picky on what you can and can't do, which is good. When I had the same surgery on my wrist he kept me out of work for 8 weeks and I was only working part time at the Disney Store. We're thinking he'll keep DH out at least 10 weeks if not 12 weeks since he does stocking full time, 6 nights a week, for a grocery store. He has a ganglion cyst that needs to be removed and it's on the bottom of his knuckle, which will need to be replaced at some point. Yes, he has major problems with his hand.

Hope everything goes well and he is able to ride Aqua Duck as many times as he wishes :wizard:

Sending pixie dust pixiedust: that the timing is right and it works out for him to be able to ride the Aqua Duck!

I had a similar surgery, twice actually. I wish you and your husband the best and hope to see you riding the Aquaduck!!:flower3:
