Does anyone have any other DH's that are sacrificing watching "The Masters" golf tournament this weekend? When we planned our cruise we didn't know that it was the same date. DH & I watch sports together, I even watch football or golf when he isn't home, I have 2 boys, what can I say? DH, Dennis, will be in Diversions Sat & Sun afternoon, I have a spa appt Sun at 3, and we have Palo at 7pm, just as the tournament is usually wrapping up. We laugh everytime there is a commercial about it. Mind you, DH, is wonderful and says he'd rather be on the cruise, but...
So, any other DH's going to be hanging out there?

Last year we were on the cruise for the Superbowl and we spent the night in Diversions. I love sports and can not get enough football and basketball and I too think it has something to do with having two sons.

I can not say golf is my thing but my husband Dave my find his way to Diversions to watch it.

her's a great one that I would like to share with everyone ... and PS ... we are in 6116

Hi all,

Can some send the link to the pictures for the magnets.

I found magnetic paper at Staples , but I know Michaels craft store has a great supply of magnetic items. They have strips, squares and small dots you peel and stick on the back of your picture or your item you want to stick to the door.

I learn something new everyday on these boards. I did not know that there is some type of fog blocker you can put on your mask. I have been snorkeling for years and would have loved this. Where can I find it?????

Kathy

It is called "No-fog" and can be found at a dive store. Or, you can just spit. LOL!

Not here. We are not a golf family. Football and tennis is my favorite. DH doesn't really bother. LOL!

Karen,

I am so glad things are working out for you. It sounds like your daughter is a trooper.

I would pose the question to the doctor about the cast in the seawater. How waterproof is waterproof? Could you tie a bag around her cast and try and seal it off that way? Would it cause the cast to really smell or god forbid her leg to really itch from the salt getting under the cast? That last one I would worry about.

She could go and be on the boat and watch. She could sit on the end of the boat. It is a nice boat ride out and the stingray surround the boat.

The only other question I have is are there any restrictions from the tour operator (Don Fosters).

Is there a medical form that you have to fill out now to include the cast?

I am so sorry you are going through this.

Deb

Karen, my boys have both had waterproof casts and they think Hannah should be able to wash the salt out, but they both said to ask the doctor. Wise for their ages, aren't they?

My DH is also concerned about the Masters being that week, and he hates golf!!! BUT -- he loves to watch Tiger. I figure he may be joining some of the others at Diversions. :thumbsup2

Question-- how do you tip your Palo waiter? :confused3

It's less than a week!!!!!!!!!

My dh was thrilled that there is a sports bar - so I imagine we will find him there quite often! :thumbsup2

if you go to a medical supply store or a large drug store that sell or rents medical aids, you can get an item that fits the leg or arm with plastic. It is open on both ends and has velcro staps to seal the top and bottom. I had to get these when I had a dislocated elbow. I used it to shower and it kept the water out.

I would be afraid of itching as well if you get sand and sea water in the cast..I know i hated being itching and kids will drive you crazy.. They told me to tap on the cast where it was itchy or use a hair dryer on it.. Dumb but it worked.

You could also us a trash bag and some duck tape the old reliable.

I am ready to print up some labels quick - but I am not sure what info we need for disembarkation?

Do we just need our home address? phone number?

or is it the location we are heading to?

Thanks in advance for this and all of the other great tidbits! You guys are awesome!

I packed today and everything fits!

I also got my lime green mickey heads and they are all labeled.

I am ready to print up some signs as soon as I hook up that new printer... but first I have a wine party to go to! Gotta have those priorities!

First, I still need to know how to tip the Palo waiters.

Next, do they give us disembarkation luggage tags like our embarkation ones? They did on our other two cruises -- two other companies.

Bev

Your room steward will leave you luggage tags on Friday. They will be color and character coded by area of the ship. You could be Mickey, Donald, Minnie, Goofy, etc. and each has a corresponding color. The information on the reverse asks for:
Number of pieces of luggage (1 of...2 of...)
Stateroom Number
Name
Address
City, State, Zip, Country

If you need more than they provide they have extras at Guest Services.

For Palo, you are charged $15 per person. You could leave an extra tip for them. We tip anywhere between $10-$20. If you order drinks the tip is already included on alcohol portion. Some people try to figure out what the meal would have cost them back home and tip based on that. I think they get some of the cover charge, but I don't know how much of it or if it's pooled between the servers.

Thanks, gfolchick, for the info on the disembarkation luggage tags. I figured they must give us something.

I wasn't clear on the Palo tip question. I wondered when and how you actually tip them. Do you give them money on the table as you would at a restaurant, or will you receive an envelope for them, or will you just tell guest services, or is there some other method of tipping them?

Sorry, I'm a little dense on this. I'm paying for Palo dinners for our two "newliest" married couples in the fam, for wedding presents, and didn't think about what to do about tipping.

However, I just finished making our pirate sashes (for 9 of us) and pirate shirts for DH and the two DSs. :yay:

Thomas (15) is having fun slashing the sleeves of the shirts to make them look more ragged! :scared1:

Now I have to decide if I'm going to make vests, buy vests, or do without vests. Hmmm . . . :confused3

Tomorrow we will be making our door signs! :dance3:

Sorry Bev,

How is you simply add it to the charge slip they give you at the end of the meal like in any other restaurant. It is a room charge slip. It will show your pp charge and a tip line I believe. How much is a whole nother question. Bruce and I are fortunate enough to go out to dinner a lot and have always judged the tip on that experience. Others will give a flat tip. I am not sure the right answer except do what your heart tells you to do. They have seen it all and nothing will surprise them. The alcohol may already have the tip on it--so take that into account.

I will tell you though that we had dinner Sunday night and brunch later in the week. The waitress we had for dinner traded tables to get us again at brunch. So, either she really liked us as a couple or really liked us as tippers. LOL! Either way, it made for a very pleasant lunch to have that extra attention.
