April 12, 2008, 4-12-08, 4/12/08 Eastern Magic

Good Morning all. I had a panic attack this morning. We have so much to do this weekend. I woke up at 3 and just couldn't go back to sleep until a little after 4. Just too much to do for cruise, for house facelift, for kids going to bday party, etc.

It is crazy.

Deb

Add in that my work is going crazy and I have to work about 28 hrs a day for the next 5 days to get it all done before vacation and that is my life, too!

I don't dare bring any work with me - Jake got so excited that I WASN'T, I couldn't bear to disappoint him - besides - it is not like anyone is going to die if I am not here! I have good backups in place, just feel guilty leaving them so much to do!

Good idea on the "get the magnets high" Scuba2.

Scuba2, your not alone on the panic attack. It's coming down the freaking wire.

Ajeent, I am there with you. I have spent the last 2 weeks beefing up documentation, reviewing, ect for work. I will be out 2 weeks on this vacation. It's the longest duration I have ever taken in the last 10+ years.

Never fails. All those projects that has been sitting, suddenly becomes priority when your about to split.

Yeah! I just pulled my stuff together. One down, 3 to go. Hubby usually packs himself, I just have to make sure to pick up his shirts from the dry cleaners before we leave.

I found my lime green Mickey head. I had laminated two heads back to back and then punched a hole in it and used a key ring on it so I could attach to luggage, my purse, etc. It's hanging off my lanyard from the hook that attaches the pouch part to the webbing of the lanyard. Looks good. I emailed Shirley to leave some surprises for the kids.

Hopefully something doesn't come up in the next few days because usually when I'm organized and ahead of the game something always happens to slow me down. One week from today I should be lounging by the Country Inns pool about now.

Did you see on the regular boards there is a post with links to some of the new menus? It's from the Western, but the menus will be the same. Sounds like this week's Eastern had some big waves again. I hope things settle down a bit otherwise I might not get my parents on a cruise again. I did buy them Bonine, Sea Bands and Ginger chews just to be safe.

Have a good weekend everyone :wave2:

Whoever is in concierge--I believe there is still a concierge meet that helps you organize any last minute reservations you need. They do hold out some spa, palo and brunch times for the concierge level. Before the online check in, this was a mad house. I can't imagine it is crowded anymore.

They used to have a representative from the spa, children's programming and palo there to rotate around and get everyone set. I think they still do it.

The fish extenders are a little game I guess that the dis members do amongst themselves. They all bring little trinkets and stuff and play secret pal and put stuff in eachother's extender. There is a link on the regular forum that talks about it and shows what someone got.

I actually had to make a list of things to do each day for the next 3 days. My dh took Monday and Tuesday off of work, so I will be getting some help. Tuesday is basically taking the dogs up to the kennels 1 1/2 hours away.

I bet if I replied less here, I'd get more done. LOL! Just kidding. I have ten minutes until my daughter comes home--not enough time to get anything done.

Deb--4 1/2 days and counting.

I am starting to doubt that I will ever be ready by next friday :scared1:

We just got back from a ski trip and all the snow suits are still in a stack in the family room waiting to be cleaned and put away. Seems so strange to get sundresses and shorts out when the snow suits haven't been packed away.

We are having somebody housesit for us, and I can't decide if I should be cleaning house (couldn't let somebody stay in my dirty house!), packing or shopping :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

QUESTIONS:

Question #1: How warm/cold is the ship? I have a long sleeved tee that I could wear pirate night, or I saw a short sleeved peasant tee at JCPenneys that would work. Long Sleeves or Short?

#2: Along those same lines - I just got a skirt with a matching thin sweater with 3/4 sleeves. Would that be too warm at dinner? The sweater is a very thin silk/cotton blend.

#3: I have a pale purple dress with a matching shawl for formal night OR a black sleeveless dress with black bolero jacket. Which would you choose? Pastel or Black? Both are equally formal, but one is summer formal and the other is winter formal.

#4: How formal is semi-formal night? Should I wear a dress? Maybe my skirt and sweater are formal enough?

..... those are the pressing questions of the moment. This afternoon I will have 27 more :worship:

We always do our taxes in February, but I had to remind the rest of the clan to get theirs done before we leave.

We have a family logo for the cruise. It says “Bettilou’s Crew” since grandma is Bettilou. We’ll probably only wear our logo shirts on Monday, but we also have hats.

Besides door signs, our fam is also doing little table signs (we will have either 5 or 6 tables, it’s not certain yet), so, along with our shirts and hats, I’m sure you’ll all see our logo at some point! We are early seating.

We have 12 cabins. Ten of them are on deck 6, pretty-much mid-ship. One is down on deck 2, and my own fam is in 7512.

Some of you are leaving so early, who is going to answer our last-minute questions??? You’ll have to log on anyway!

Mother-of-sons – I’m not creative, either. Luckily, we have people in the family who are!

Today’s question – has anyone every had an infant get seasick? Our 2-year-old and 8-month-old are too young for kids’ Bonine or Dramamine. Their doctor said to talk to a pharmacist. One said to use Benadryl, the other we asked said he’d never even thought about it! He suggested ½ of a kids’ Bonine. Any experiences out there?

OK – I just ordered a nice bouquet of flowers to be in Grandma’s room as a “Bon Voyage” gift. One more thing done!

Rachellou – our grandma is 85, and she has a “brag book” all ready to share with other grandmas!

We are a few door downs from you in 7534!

Mother-of-sons -- I am so excited that our boys will be so close to each other! Now if I can just keep mine from breaking anything in the two more soccer games they have before we leave . . . :thumbsup2

Kim and Megan are on deck 2 and we are on deck 6. We have early sitting too. We will be on large table of 12

Bev,

I hear you about breaking things. Drew has a baskeball tournament this weekend and a practice the night before we leave for the ship. And every season he ends up damaging some part of his body. Let's cross our fingers.

I did not do bodily harm today but I had a very HUGE blonde moment and backed out of the garage when the door was not open all the way. So the door is damaged and off the runners. It's all these little mishaps that stress me out. Hopefully the door will be fixed tomorrow ugghh.

Hopefully this links in a green mickey. I haven't quite followed the plan, but I think we need it.

I also found this...

They are for printing on magnetic paper and putting on your room number to make it look like a mickey head. I thought if I had time and felt creative I might write "DIS Board Member" in one ear and "TaraMom22" in the other and then print them out. Otherwise I will just print them out as is.

I had my own blonde moment today. I backed in to a spot at my daughter's school at parent pick up time and couldn't figure out why I couldn't back in any further and then I realized I was up to the light pole! Good thing I didn't gun the engine and knock it over.

We are also on deck 7, all the way to the front of the ship in 7002.

I know I will be running around like crazy at the beginning of the week. Tom will be in Fl for work, and I haven't packed yet! Took suitcases out today. And added defogging stuff to snorkel masks. I also washed pillowcases to drop off at guest services and bagged them with markers.

Kayla had a flute lesson and her ballet class after school today, so that ate up the entire afternoon. Have a great weekend.

Where would we find the magnetic paper? Craft store, staples or Walmart?

I got some at staples and I have heard they have it at Walmart...
I just checked out the magnet sign thread and have a lot of pictures, now I just have to pick out what I want to print - oh and yeah - open up the new printer and get it hooked up!
and here I sit trolling the boards again! :surfweb: :rolleyes1

Hi Everyone!
Thank you for all the kind messages and PM! This has been one heck of a week. Part of me just wants to break down and cry at my whole life right now, but, with me knowing that this cruise is coming and the kind words from everyone here, I know I can do this! DD had the surgery to put on the cast on Wednesday. She was not a happy camper waking up from this anesthetic. One of the worst cases she has had. And she has had ALOT of surgeries! But, that has past. Yesterday, she took 30 steps throughout the day using a walker. We are off the Vicoden and just on Tylenol and Motrin. I have come to the fact that now I can start packing.. Her's will be easy now, I went and got different sundresses for her to wear throughout the week.:rotfl: One question I have though, right now I have the Stingray encounter thing scheduled at Castaway, do you think that it is still do-able for her? She has a water-proof cast, and if I can stand with her, she can stand still and such with assistance. I really hope so, because that is her actual birthday.
Again, thank you everyone for the kindness and support!

Hi all,

Can some send the link to the pictures for the magnets.

I found magnetic paper at Staples , but I know Michaels craft store has a great supply of magnetic items. They have strips, squares and small dots you peel and stick on the back of your picture or your item you want to stick to the door.

I learn something new everyday on these boards. I did not know that there is some type of fog blocker you can put on your mask. I have been snorkeling for years and would have loved this. Where can I find it?????

Hi Karen,

Good to know DD is doing okay, what color is her cast? I haven't been on the stingray excur at CC but from the pictures she should be fine. The cast will not be so heavy for her in the water but she will need your help getting up to the stingray station, but since CC is at the end, she will be a pro at getting around. Time to pack and relax, relax, relax, we are going on a Disney cruise.:yay:

See ya real soon,
Kim

Hi Kathy,
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1523226
The cruise magnet thread is on the main Cruise Discussion forums if this worked. Hope this helps, they really go all out for these magnets.
