April 1 - 8, 2006 - Magic - Eastern

Hi,

We would like to do them. I'm going to read some of the posts to see what others have done to get some ideas. I'm NOT very creative, so who knows what we'll end up with.

Have a great day!

Lisa

Absolutely. I worked on mine a bit this weekend. From what I gather, it's much cheaper to use the magnetic strips, rather than the magnetic paper. I went to the local scrapbook store for some supplies and inspiration. That way I can put them in my scrapbook.

Welcome, IndyRosa. It is very odd that there are quite a few of us from the Indianapolis and the surrounding areas. I have wondered if some may be on the same flight. Just might have to stand up at the gate and say, "Who's ready for the Magic!"

Well, unfortunately, we'll be driving it. So, are you actually from Indy?
Wow, a little over 8 weeks from now... can't wait.

Yup. I am a victim of Magicitis. It strikes at unexpected times where in the middle of needing to get something done, I wander to my computer to try and refine my plans slightly, check to see if there is anything to add to the list, or if I have the limo times correct.

Sigh

My wife and I (from Grand Rapids, Michigan) are going on the April 1 Magic Eastern Cruise for our first cruise experience. We are bringing DD17, DS14 and DS11 (DD19 is in her first year of college and cannot come along :sad1:

We have two rooms on deck 2. DW said that she would rather have two seperate rooms with one for the kids than share a cat 3/4 with only a curtain in between  << her words, not mine >>

The kids have no clue we are going on a cruise. We are flying down from GRR to Orlando on Friday (10:00 flight, 4:00 PM arrival, very relaxed). We are going to Cirque Soleil on Friday night. We are then telling them that "we couldn't get a rental car at a good price in Orlando, so we are taking a shuttle to Cape Canaveral area where we will stay for a few days and then go to a resort."

And then, pull into the cruise port and "April Fools, We are going on a Disney Cruise!" (I hope they are excited instead of saying, "you mean we're not going to the Space Center?") DW has been wanting to go on a Disney Cruise since she saw a video of the Big Red Boat.

Well -- back to work...

See all of you in a few weeks!

I bet you are just bursting with excitement. Did something similar with my boys 2 years ago with a trip to Disney. Did a scavenger hunt. They didn't quite believe me until the next morning.

I have a DS 8 and DS 10. See you on board the Magic.

Well how will we get through the next 7 1/2 weeks!!!!

I can't imagine what you go through if you have to cancle at the last moment.

I have designed our first "door sign" We'll have two cabins. I think I am going to get a 4-pack of 8x11 magnetic "paper" for the copier and do 2 for each door and then make a few more smaller ones and stick magnetic tape on those. On the door sign thread it said several times to make them personal with first names or home towns or something or they tended to be taken. That is a sad but true fact I guess. On our last trip to WDW one was taken off the back of my van. Since the kids are in stuff and have school and other magnets I have only had THAT one taken and at WDW of all places!!! I had a Mickey Mouse for over a year and no one took it. (I left it at the car wash.) BUT the pink point shoe appealed to a ballerina theif.

Those who have sailed before. What do 6 - 8 yr old DDs really need to pack. (Just shorts, tops, swim suits and a few dresses?) Will they get chilly? AC or at Night?

Since I got everything I wanted except the Palo Brunch on-line I feel real good about boarding day. If they did not have that now I'd be stressed out. I tend to get that way. My personal rule for this trip is relax. I don't relax well.

53 days! 7 1/2 weeks sounds better I think.

I watched that old travel channel special on DCL that is over 2 years old last night during the Super Bowl. (Boy things have changed and I have never sailed and know it.) :rotfl2: ((Oh, we have a full video tape of every Disney program The Travel Channel has ever shown.)) Stiill I got real excited watching it. I need to look for the DVDs around here that DCL sent.

It is getting close to time for Jack to save the world so I'll wrap this up!!

Well, Happy Planning!!

Hello,

We will be going on this cruise. We are a family of 5 (from Eden Prairie MN), kids age 3,7,13.

After careful thought we have decided that our excursion of choice is to charter our own cigarette boat for a tour of Anguilla and possibly St. Martin. We look to get the following benefits out of the trip:

- Anguilla beaches have been described and seen pictures as among best in Carribean and world (Cap Juluca, Shoal Bay, Sandy Island, Prickley Pear).
- Snorkeling and beaching at picture perfect pool-blue secluded beaches and islands around Anguilla.
- Lunch at our place of choice (possibilities included grilled lobster, casual beach restaurants, or possibly the crew cooking fresh seafood).
- The boat will pick up and drop off where our cruiseships are.
- These boats are fast (60-70mph) and the 15-20 minutest that it takes to get to Anguilla will be the same 15-20 minutes it takes to get to say, Orient Beach.
- Depending on time/preferences, we could possibly tour St. Martin/Maarten in the afternoon (Marigot, Orient Beach, Maho etc.).
- Beverages included.
- Personal attention and customization of trip.

The vendor for this trip is offshoresunsations and if you google them you can find the url (or figure it out yourself - this website is keeping me from posting the url....)

Check out their details, sample itineraries, photos, testimonials, etc., You can also do a search on main DCL page or google to find out more info about this outfit.

We are looking for another group to share the cost of the boat with us. If interested, PM us and we can hash out details.

Thanks

Paul S.

DIS has a chat room that we can use if we want. Why don't we set up a regular weekly/biweekly chat schedule so that we can all get to know each other better before we leave? :grouphug:

Anyone else interested? I have no social life (outside of dreaming of our Disney Cruise), :cloud9: so I'm free this evening around 9PM Eastern (if I'm not already asleep).

The url is: http://disboards.com/chat/index.php3. see you there!

Hi! We will be on that cruise. We just got off of the same cruise Saturday. All of you first timers will not believe it. It is incredible. Which of course,is why I rebooked for next year. If you have any questions over the next 11 months , let me know. I will be with my DH,DD(will be 7 then) and DD(will be 14 then) I can't wait. It will be fun talking to all of you until we go.

Hello Pacercolt! We are from Indy; DD is 17, DS is 7. It'll be our first trip on a cruise! We're looking forward to it. I've been looking for lots of information on these threads - they've been great! So what did you enjoy the most on your cruise last year?

By my calculation, we are only 6 weeks away from our cruise. :woohoo: My family and I are beginning to get rather excited. I imagine the real excitement comes when the documents arrive. Couple of questions:

Has anyone cruised this time of year? What is the weather like in port and once at sea. My first reaction is shorts, tees and bathing suits, but do not want cold, nor want to pack for all types of weather.

Indy area folks, do you know when you are flying out? Night before or that morning?

We are getting wwaaaaaayyyy excited!!
My son and I fly out of Indy nonstop on Thursday at 6pm something. I can't tell you for sure because Airtran keeps changing our flight! GRRRRR. My dh and dd fly out Friday around 8pm. They won't get in until after midnight. They have a connecting in ATL. DS and I are going a day at MK on Friday.

We need to hope for no freak snow storms. I was thinking about all those East coast folks that could not get out last weekend!

When do you guys leave?

Hi Rosa,

We are from Westfield. My dstepd will turn 18 in march and my son is 6. Sounds like the will be hanging out the same places with your kids. Can't wait to get on that boat!!!!!!!

We are leaving Saturday morning. We used to live in Chicago and I never sweated leaving that morning because there were a host of flight options. A bit nervous about Saturday morning since there are not a bunch of options. However, (fingers crossed) April 1 shouldn't be too risky for weather. I believe our flight NS leaves at 7:30 am

Hi jk8 !
We actually live in Greenwood. It DOES sound like our kids will be in similar places! My daughter turns 18 in May, and two of her girlfriends and families are going as well. I hope the teen club/area is fun for them. We probably won't see the girls much on the trip! Ha! I'm getting more excited each week, of course. We are driving the trip, which doesn't sound that much fun to me, but seemed like less hassle with all of the airport hoopla with ATA pulling out of Indy ,and the air fares. I'm sure we'll wish we would have flown when it's all said and done.
