April 1 - 8, 2006 - Magic - Eastern

I cannot believe we are sailing in 28 days!!! It is like 25 degrees now and has been very cold past few weeks, I need sun and water!! My kids are excited , we started a count down calendar. Making lists of what to bring and I must go shopping. Actually we are flying into MCO 3/30 for 2 nights at WDW.
Have fun packing!! :shamrock: :stitch:

I agree. 28 days and counting. I like to think of it as 4 short weeks. My family and I have full weekends the 18th and the 25th, so preparations are measured in two weekends. Will get everyone to try on summer clothes tomorrow to see what fits. Will start storing things in the spare bedroom for ease of packing. Need to go shopping (duct tape, spray bottle, sun screen, bubbles, etc.). I suspect we will be getting documentation in about two weeks. Has anyone else received any upgrades. I know that there is o rhyme or reason to their policy. Just curious to see if the mouse has smiled upon anyone.

Hi everyone,

We are also going to be on the cruise at the time and are SO looking forward to it! It is a cruise I just booked 3 days ago so I haven't had the time to really prepare or research as much as I'd like to. My dh is a Major in the Army reserves who just got the call to be activated and deployed for almost 18 months - this cruise is what our girls (ages 9 and 6 1/2) asked for when we told them we'd go anywhere they wanted for a family trip before Daddy leaves at the end of April.

It is really nice to "meet" everyone, and any advice any "Pros" have for this would be really appreciated - we are Disney vets but never been on a Disney cruise.

WE WERE THE WELCOME FAMILY at MK!!! 12/18/2005

Smoihusted,

I don't post alot, but I read yours and had to say "Thank you" to your husband and family for your sacrifice. I know that our military doesn't hear it enough in the media, but the true Americans throughout our Country are truly grateful to you.

What a great send-off, I know that your girsl are probably bouncing off of the walls. We have a 12 y/o son and a 9 y/o daughter, so maybe the girls can meet on the ship. If your girls want to e-mail mine before the cruise just send me a private message and we will get them set up. My daughter is dying to meet a friend before we actually go.

We look forward to cruising with you! :cool1:

:tigger: :tigger: Welcome to the DIS and the April Fools Day sailing of the Magic!!! Your family will have a great time!! If you have any specific questions all of us would be happy to respond. I booked my cruise 10/2004. We have had a looooong wait!!! So worth it. Here are a couple of hints right off the top of my head--

pack light there is a washer/dryer on board if needed. 1 dress and 1 skirt is all I bring along with shorts and shirts. My husband brings 1 suit with 2 dress shirts. Bring a few bathing suits 1 is always hanging to dry!!! Sunscreen!! Book Palos for yourself and your husband great adult night out. register kids in club they will love it. order all aboard platter from room service, we do everyday while getting ready for dinner, it holds us over. Go see the shows they are great. Bring your camera!!

See you soon,
Jessica

:yay: We are approaching our cruise date. 25 days! Begun gathering clothes together this past weekend and did some shopping. A bit of irony-Went shopping for cruise items (sunscreen, diving sticks, etc.). Came out of the store and it was snowing.

Question for all: Not certain what the weather will be like. Has anyone cruised this time of year (summer wear or bring some pants)? Also, what are all the ladies bringing for evening dress? It just seems that I have quite a bit of to pack. I don't want to overpack, but don't want to be wearing the same thing over and over. :mickeyjum

Allears7,

I've already begun to pack!! :yay: :bounce:

I've got index cards laid out on the bed in the guest room with a seperate day on each card. The cards list each day's activities and under it I'm laying the corresponding outfits - one for daytime and a seperate one for evening. (I'll probably repeat an outfit at least once). Then I'll do the same thing for my girls. (Husband takes care of himself).

I'm wearing a black floor length velvet dress with a little velvet jacket for one of the formal/semi formal nights and a long black tafetta skirt and white tafetta blouse for the other. For our night at Palo, I'm wearing a really elegant navy and gold pants suit with a nautical design. For the other nights, I will probably wear sun dresses and carry a white sweater just in case. I'm taking a striped shirt and white capris for pirate night.

I called our doctor's offices this week and had them call in "the seasick patch" for all of us. The girls' doctors office said they were going to have to check with the pharmacist to see if there is a dosage for children???!?!?!? Haven't heard back from them yet.

Only 24 more days!!!!!!!

Hi,

I haven't started to "officially" pack yet, but have put some things in one of our spare rooms. I think we're going to go shopping again on Saturday to hopefully finish getting the items left on our list. I told my DH that I want to have all (or most) of the packing done the weekend before we leave.

I have a long black and white formal dress that I'll wear on formal night and a pant suit that I'll wear on the semi-formal night. Other than that, I'll probably just wear capris with a nice shirt. I always pack way too much stuff, so I'm going to try to pack lighter this time.

Has anybody ordered any of the gift items available through the ship? I was thinking about ordering something for DD (7 years old), but can't decide.

I decided to take April 30th off since we'll be checking DD out of school at 11:00 a.m. on April 31st. I figured this would start vacation early and give me time to get all the last minute things done.

I can't believe we are so close now!!!!!

Hey Lisa!!

I'm planning to make my own gift basket/boxes. I found the cutest gift for my girls at disneystore.com. It's a cute stuffed Minnie Mouse holding a post card that you can personalize any way you want. It's on sale for 14.99 from it's regular price of $24.50. I had it personalized to say their name and "I'm so glad you're on my cruise" and then "Disney Magic - 2006".

I called customer service to verify it would be here before the cruise and they said it would. I'm hoping they will come soon enough to FedEX them to the ship. I plan to pack a few other gift items including some disposable cameras, some disney sunglasses, some little bubble machines and some mickey mouse gummies. Then hopefully they will be delivered and waiting in our stateroom when we board. If the Minnie-grams don't come soon enough for that, I'll just stick them in a bag and pull them out when the girls aren't looking.

Here's a picture (just go to disneyshopping.com and search on Minnie Gram) in case you want to try to get them too. Worse case scenerio, they will come after we get back from the cruise - but they'll still be a terriffic keepsake.

Can you all believe it.

I'm about to head out with oldest dds for a "little shopping".

I have the younger 2 dds done, I think.

I have a long summer black dress (linen with rayon embroidery around the lower 12 inchs) that I've worn to every dressy summer thing for 5 years and it will do once more. I got a pretty dress that was fancied up with an aqua blue sweater with beads and sequins. I am wearing those two to formal, simi-formal and Palo. Don't know which will go 2 times.

Then I have 3 capri suits. One will be worn 2 times too. I can't bring any more. OH MY THE SHOES!!!!!!!!!!

We are going to pack early just because I don't know if we are going to get it all in the suit cases or the car. I want time to figure out what we'll do.

See you all soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi! :wave2: I just hapened to find this site and it's pretty neat! I thought it would be fun to post so yeah! I just wanted to see if i could find any other teens going before we left! I'm 16 and i have a younger brother who is 13 and of course my lovely parents are coming along. This is our first Disney cruise :earsboy: so it is sure to be an adventure :goofy:

Welcome PiratePrincess...we are looking forward to our first Disney Cruise too. I have a son that is nearly 13..(his birthday is in June) and a son that is 8. I've been reading the boards for a few weeks now and it seems like neither you or your brother will have any trouble finding kids your age to hang out with.

18 more days OR as my family likes to call it, only 2 more Magic cruises until it's our turn. I wanted to know if anyone had received their cruise documentation yet? All signs indicated 2-3 weeks. Not paranoid quite yet, just curious.

Hi allears7 !
We haven't received our docs yet either... so you're not the only one.
We're getting more and more excited! What are your children's ages again? Mine are DS is 7, and DD is 17...

Hi pirateprincess16 !
My daughter is 17. My son is 7. I'm sure they'll both have a good time in their own fun areas of the ship ! This is our first ever cruise, and looking forward to getting away! 17 days and counting !!!

My TA e-mailed me last weekend and asked if I'd heard from DCL about papers. When I said no, she called them and reported that DCL said that they were "at the printers" and we should get them around 3/17??!!

I went on DCL site a few weeks back and had new options to do an "on-line check in". I'd seen no mention of this on the boards and haven't had time to post a ? about it. It let me enter PP#s, and other info "to speed check-in" It took credit card # for on-board charging. Asked which kids could charge. (I don't think so :rotfl: ) When I'd done everything it let me open the cruise contract and print out the papers you must sign to board. I figure that I'll just get to read the good stuff and get the 12 ( pirate: ::MinnieMo princess: princess: princess: princess: X 2 :rotfl: ) official luggage tags when the papers come. I think I've done all the "legal" stuff.

Work is very rough right now. Bad day after bad day. (up at 4:30am home cooking supper at 6:30pm) I won't be doing that in 3 weeks!!!!!!

In fact, driving home I figured another way to make a little peace. We have the 2 connected cabins with 4 DDs in one. Older 2 will sleep in but younger 2 will be up 8-9:00 depending on how late they were out. WELL DH and I will have junky kids b-fast sent to our cabin. Leave it there with TV on kid channel. When younger 2 get up they can come in our room and have junk food in bed. He and I can have a quiet breakfast alone and older DDs will be asleep. We could even have their clothes laid out and find them dressed when we return  .

We all have our dreams.

Hi. We are going on this cruise too. I have a 9 year old daughter and 7 year old son who are very excited.
