Applying tickets to pay for AP

We don't have enough points for dvc this fall so we are doing free dining promotion. I know it's not really 'free' but we are staying at a value and doing RO discount and paying oop for food will be slightly more. My question is about the 2 day tickets you have to buy. We have APs and want to renew next year at the discount rate. If we apply the two day tickets to help pay for them will we be charged for brand new APs or can we get the renewal rate? It will be our first time upgrading tickets and aren't really sure how this will work. Thanks!

And how would this work with MB and MDE? If you book the free dining package on the same MDE as your linked AP, will it know to not use the 2-day tickets and only use your AP?

You can apply the value of the tickets towards the renewal of your annual passes. This type of renewal must be done on property during the renewal window which opens 60 days prior and ends 30 days after the expiration date of your current annual pass.

The resort or guest relations should be able to issue the tickets on admission cards and unlink them from MDE.

I saw on another post we have to have the front desk or maybe guest relations prioritize the AP over the tickets. We will be at wdw just within the 60 day window so that is good news! If we renew that early when is the new AP active? The day our old ones expire? I hope we wouldn't lose 60 days or that wouldn't be worth it.

The renewed AP will become active the day your current pass expires and would be valid for 1 year from that date.
