My DD is hoping to extend after her FA internship. When a person extends to they stay in their same apartment? Another question about possibly moving out: We are purchasing a condo in October that is like 6 miles from Disney. Can she move out of her apartment before her program is over in January? and if she extends can she move out in January? It would be so much cheaper for her to just stay at the condo. I am not sure if there was a "lease" like contract signed when she moved it. Thanks in advance for any insight :)

With very few exceptions, all Walt Disney World Resort College & International Program Participants who extend their Programmes will be required to move into new Disney Housing units.

Requests to live Off-Property are reviewed on a Case by Case basis by Disney Housing Operations.

It is the goal of the Walt Disney World Company to ensure that all Florida-Based College and International Program Participants have safe and secure living arrangements during their time in Florida, and Participants who are requesting to live with roommates or family will always have preference.

Interested Participants should apply to Walt Disney Parks & Resorts College Recruiting (before arrival) or Disney Housing Operations (post-arrival).

As was stated above she will have to move apartments. Which can be a bit frustrating. When I extended my program I moved from a 3 bedroom in Patterson to another 3 bedroom in Patterson that was the next building over. We left my apartment very nice and clean and the apartment that we moved into was very dirty and nasty I would have liked to just stay in my apartment since it was basically the same but that was a no go lol

By any chance do you know how far in advance of a notice do you have to give them if you want to move out of the complex (say into the condo). Since she would have to move anyway it might as well be into a place we have. Do many people live in apartments out of the 3 complexes?

Um it depends on what the other people in your apartment do. I have a roommate who has been in the same bed since January.

The official stance is that they make you "consolidate" once your apartment reaches 50% occupancy. Obviously there are exceptions (with PIs especially since there are numerous different move in and move outs and there may be no one to consolidate with).

I started my program and then moved out about 2 months in. Since you pay rent by the week, I had to be out by Sunday at 11. I personally put in my request to move out about a month in advance. My request had to go through a committee (I'm not sure how often they meet). I had no problems moving out because I was living with my immediate family (spouse), I know others go through a little more in order to get approval to move off site.

Once you leave the complex (with approval) you stop paying rent. It worked really well for me, but I have heard of struggles that others have had. Just have her communicate with the housing office!!
