I was told by the WDW reservations that they would mail us an exchange certificate for the AP and then we must validate it by going to a theme park before going to the hotel to keep the AP rate.

Is this correct or is the exchange certifiacte enough?? We will be flying and want to go to the resort first if at all possible.

Sometimes they don't even ask to see an AP. The voucher should be fine. Worst case would be you have to show it to the front desk the next day.

The 1st time we had AP's, we only had a voucher upon check-in at AKL and we were not asked to show our AP's. Last month, we had our actual AP's upon check-in at CR, and again we were not asked to show them. In fact, for whatever reason, they didn't work about 75% of the time at the parks and the CM's would just open the gates and let us in. Anyway, I strongly suspect if you are asked at check-in, a voucher will be sufficient.
