AP Rates are OUT!!

If you use a AP rate can you book a package with Dining plan? I thought that you could get the Dining Plan if you added a one day pass but I asked on the phone yesterday and the CM told me that if you use an AP rate you cannot add any type of package to the room. You can only book the room. Can someone please explain this to me? We are not looking to go until probably May so the rates aren't out yet, but I want to be prepared in case AP is the best option for us.

I'm so mad! We were booked in a standard room. I called at 7am before it was even on the boards. They told me no standard rooms would be offered with AP.
I ended up rebooking with 5 nights WL woods view and 2 nights at POR because the prices were so high! I hate when they tell you one thing and then do another. I just called back and they are saying no, no standards are being offered.
What are you dates though? That could be a factor. I have 2/9 - 2/16. My last two nights I'm still paying peak season rates though.

Honestly, I didn't really want the standard view, I'm going to be calling back to see if a normal wood's view is available. This is my honeymoon & I want a king bed which isn't available at the standard views. However, I'll call when I get home from work since I can't call from my cube & I'm roaming on my cell phone here so I really didn't even want to use it this morning.

Was that 175 plus tax or is 175 already included with tax???

Plus Tax.

Darn- The AAA rate was cheaper for my 4 night Poly stay by $117.00. We switched to WL Woods View and saved $352, but this was still with a AAA rate and not a AP rate. I was really counting on that AP to save me some money. Oh well, maybe it will for our June/July trip! We love the WL, so no great hardship. My "deluxe" kids were not into POFQ even though it would have saved another $400. I figure we'll need the close proximity to one of the parks for our short trip anyway, and this is my DSIS's first trip so I wanted to make it really special!

No. The only discount you can use on a package with dining is AAA, and that has to be booked through a AAA agent. You may not use an AP discount on a package with dining.

I am not happy with the way this is shaking out. We're not going back until Aug. '08 (well, we're going in 6 weeks but that is under the OLD rules - we got $70 off each night and the $75 dining card). It looks like "rack rate weekends" apply across the board for APs. I looked at some January dates for AKL and the discount is a flat $50, rack rate on weekends. I will have to crunch some numbers to see if 15% off with AAA is better than $50 off PART of the nights in our ressie. Yep. AAA is cheaper if it applies to all nights.

What is the AAA rate for a woodsview at the WL?

My trip is 1-26 to 2-3. I already got my email confirmation and checked online and I received the 99.00 rate for the weekends also. My original ressie was the same rate for weekends too. This is 20.00 per nite cheaper than the AAA rate for Mods. I agree that the AP rates are bad and have been getting worse each time they are realeased. My thinking is that the AP rates will soon be a thing of the past. Room only will also probably go--the thing now is packages and I feel that before long that is all that will be available. Good luck to everyone with the crappy AP rates!!

It was $956.24 for my 4 nights Feb. 8- 12, so this would include 2 weekend nights. I don't know the specific cost of each night, but it averages $239 including tax.

Unfortunatley, we are going Jan. 30th-Feb 6th. I guess it was the "not going to be offered at all for standard WL that bugged me. Hope you have a great trip, maybe someone will cancel since the discounts on Deluxes aren't that good, keep trying for the room you want.

Huh. I wonder what's up with that? I put in Jan. 25 - Feb. 3 at AKL and it showed rack rate on weekends. Weird. The Passholder site isn't even encouraging Deluxe - just value, mod, and DVC.
I guess once I know DH's schedule I will book with a AAA rate and see what AP rates look like later IF there are any.

Maybe there's a glitch in the passholder site. If this person got the discount on the weekend. The dis site is listing a discount on the weekends for the value resorts of $69 a night, but I'm not pulling that price online. I also can't get a discount for a value for Sunday night Feb. 3rd. I can for the mods, but not the values. I think I'll wait a couple of days for everything to sort out. I did see that the DVC resorts are a great value, running at 47% off. Wow, but rack rate on the weekend negates the savings.

yooperfan, I just got AP for WL, woods view for $200+tax. AAA rate was $212+tax. Our dates are Feb 1-10. The AP discounts are good through Feb 13. We are not being charged weekend rates.

Definitely call CRO to book! I just did and got a better price than the website.

Old reservation: 1/4-1/7 at POFQ/King room $557 total
New reservation: 1/4-1/7 at CSR/King room $388 total
Savings: $169

When I checked it online, it was $501, showing rack rate for 1/4 and 1/5 and the $99 only for 1/6. But for $388, I know I got it for the whole weekend with CRO.

I tried WL, it would have been $675 for Woods view and $759 for Courtyard. Not worth double the price.

EDITING TO ADD: I checked my reservation online and since I booked a king room, my rate is $115/night, not $99. But it IS $115 for each night, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

i just changed my ressie from pop(cause they had no more ap rooms left) to all star sports and my rate went from $461.25 for 5 nights to $322.05 so that's a pretty good rate. $49 for 3 nights/69 for 2 nights. i'll take it!

We are going the Marathon weekend, checking in Friday January 11 and out on Sunday Jan 13 (moving over to WLV on points then).

There was basically nothing available for that weekend at the AP discount except for honeymoon or deluxe suites at the deluxes(way too much for us). I did find availability at Boardwalk WV but it was $675 so out of our price range. Nothing at the moderates or values except for Coronado Springs water view which we took. For the two nights it was $292.50 total or $146.25 a night. We also have 3 adults in our room so that brought the rate up I think $15 a night.

Rack rate on the Disney site was $180 before tax so I guess this wasn't too bad especially considering it was a weekend. We really have no desire to stay here, so we are chalking this up as one more resort we can cross off on our way to staying at all on property. Hopefully it is better than we are expecting.....

we did this when they offered free dining. you can't get the ap rate if you book the dining plan. it's worth it to just buy a 1 day base ticket $71 and get the dining plan and then if you have an ap just don't use that ticket and apply it to a later date. it was really worth it to us when we got the free dining cause we just had to pay for our room.
good luck!

I just booked a standard studio (value) at AKVillas for $129/night. Better than my $198/night from Member Services. Whoohoo!! :cool1:

Wow that is a great price. I should call to check on that too. I'm checking into the AKV on Sunday the 27th and need a place on Saturday the 26th.

I called and it wasn't available for my date. The Value resorts were available at the $69 a night, but only preferred rooms which made it $81 a night, so I passed and booked a moderate room for $99 a night. (before taxes).

I also had to book a night for Feb. 3rd, but couldn't get the rate of $49 for one night, but if I booked 2 nights the rate came up. So I booked two nights and will try to modify and drop the one night and see if I can keep the rate. If not, I'll book another moderate. Not sure if I need the room as I will be waitlisting for an extra night at the AKV, but needed a backup. So for those, like myself, who saw that weekends were not discounted online, that is incorrect. The weekends are indeed discounted if you call CRO and make your reservations. While the value resorts were higher at $69, the moderates were the same on the weekends and the week days. If I had not seen it posted here, I wouldn't have tried.

I called this morning and was not impressed - since AP rates are apparently not being offered on weekends, my AAA rate was much cheaper overall.

Same thing here...my AAA rate beat the AP rate by over $300 at the Poly LVC....not impressive, although I am VERY happy to have that AAA rate!

we booked 5 nights at pop (1\2-1-7) for less than 350!!!!! sooo excited!! congrats to al lthat can use them !!!!!!
