So we have our August 2012 trip planned out and are so excited. Our trip after that will most likely be the end of April 2013 to celebrate our ten year wedding anniversary. I am wondering what AP discounts or tickets are? I hear that if you plan on going twice to Disney in one year, then you should think about it?

Waht is the advantage? From what I see APs are very expensive. Can you still get whatever discount Disney has to offer? For example, we have gotten free dining this trip and will look into % off for our April trip and want to stay deluxe for that trip.

Advantages/disadvantes of AP?

We've never had APs but are thinking about getting them for our trip at the end of this year as we are planning on going again next summer. From what I've read about them, it makes sense to get them if you'll be going for at least 10 days within a year's time. I have priced APs against 10 day hoppers w/no expiration and the APs (for our family of 4) would save us around $200. As far as room discounts, AP discounts are like any other discount. They are not guaranteed and if they are offered, there still has to be availability at the resort you want in order to get it, just like GP offers.

In order to get free dining, you would still have to buy the minimum park tickets as having an AP does not exclude you from that requirement. You can, however, book an AP + Dine package and pay for dining without having to buy the 1 day base for DDP. From the research I have done on APs, they are a great investment if you will be going to Disney a few times within 1 year. I believe the 1 year starts when they are activated and they expire 1 year from that time. AP holders also get a discount on merchandise (I think 10%) and you can buy the Tables in Wonderland card and get 20% off TS meals. HTH :).
