AP discount extension?

If you are going more than 10 days in 1 calendar year, the AP becomes worth it even if AP rates don't come out. I believe they have AP rates out now until June 3rd - so if you have a trip before that it might help too. Also, if you do not do dining, you can purchase the Tables in Wonderland and 20$ off most table service meals....it basically covers the tip, but is very helpful.

I'm going in July and then again in August. An AP would definitely save $$$ on the ticket portion. And now that I can book an AP package with dining, the AP has become more and more appealing!

This is odd, usually the AP discounts come out first. Anyway, just so you all know there is a 20% off most all the stores at WDW with an AP. The Disney Visa 10% off was given in the parks as well. At the store where we found out about the discount we actually got both! 20% for the AP and then the 10% for the Disney Visa. I don't think that one was right but I was told it was. The next store said one or the other, well of course the AP is more so that's what we used. We were NEVER told of this discount when getting our APs on the 5th! It's also NOT on WDW website. My daughter bought an expensive purse on Main St and got the 20%! There were no exclusions!

Sounds like an AP is the way to go!

Was this recently? In the past, the only place the discount was good was in World of Disney in DTD.....that is great news!

Yes, this past week. We just got home this morning. The AP discount was good in almost all WDW locations (only Japan for us when it wasn't avail) The Disney Visa discount was avail. everywhere as well. One place we got both!! first the 20% and an additional 10% for the Visa!! We saved 20% on almost everything we bought (we have TIW for food) It was great! I think my kids spent more than they would have if there was no 20% off but I guess that's good for WDW. We got the discount even on carmel apples / candy and similar items. (per a CM in EPCOT good through Mar 11, 2010 unless extended again. They said it's been in effect since before Christmas) Just to let you know 3 of us purchased new APs along with TIW and NO ONE told us at the purchase of the 20% off!!! A few of our first purchases should have had the discount but nothing much.

Ok, so only good through March 11 - we will try this - we may be going over spring break (March 27). Thanks so much for the heads up. It is just like the TIW, we were able to use it in AK at the CS restaurants but they don't advertise that well either, so now DH just asks everywhere we go, just in case.

The AK cs (3 of them) are listed at least in the list of places that TIW is allowed. If they had the 20% before Christmas and have had is since, there's a good chance they will still have it when you go! I also received AP PINs for Feb 14- Mar 13! It's only the discount on the site. Weird I thought. We couldn't use the AP discount for the week we were just there since our room type was never available with the 45% off We did have the 40% pin though. Good luck with getting the 20% off!

I have seen the list - just lucky to remember it because you get used to not using TIW at CS. I received those same odd AP PINS - I wish they would extend the PINS for this summer, we are going in July. We are staying offsite in March - got a great deal, even the PIN cannot match.

The PIN for the GP is extended (not AP or FL res though, odd) through mid Aug. The TIW is good at CS at the Values as well and I think POFQ - it works out great if staying at one of them.

We have the GP discount, I was hoping for a little bit better AP discount - it is very odd that they did not offer the AP discount first.

Reading the AP merchandise discount has been extended to March 11 is great. Our next trip if March 6-12.

You should try the Passholder website anyway - I was able to get an AP rate to come up over the week before Easter, and I don't think it is "technically" listed.

With the extension yesterday of general public disounts through August, I was hoping AP discounts would be extended as well. I logged on to the passholder site this morning and it seems AP rates are still only available through June 3rd. Has anyone heard when AP rates will be extended, as well? Thanks. :goodvibes

I am also waiting for the extension of the AP rates. I currently have a great rate on a 1 bedroom executive suite over at the Dolphin for $339 a night including taxes.

What's the cheapest anyone has ever gotten for the Garden Suite over at the BWI?

Ok, I am a fairly new WDW passholder who was a DLR passholder last year. I am used to the DLR passholder site and looking at the resort rates there. When I go to the passholder area of the WDW site, all I see is a date range for discounts and not a daily rate calendar. Am I missing something? It sounds like you are looking at something different than what I see. Can you direct me to where you can look at rates from day-to-day?

hello - we are booked for may 29-june 5th at the poly with 40% off all nights - we have APs and now I'm wondering if it's possible to do may 29 to june 3rd with the 45% off and the june 4th ressie with the 40% off GP rate? Would they make this 2 reservations and would we risk being moved to a different room on our last night??? or do i hold tight and wait for AP discount to extend and get 45% off for all 7 nights??? Any advice welcome - really don't want to change rooms on our last night...thanks!!!

If you really don't want to change rooms (kind of wastes time) I would keep what you have. We tried to apply the AP discount to our 2 rooms (all have aps) from the day they came out at WL for a Woods or Standard, never avail.! We ended up with our 40% pin for a woods view (standard was not avail for that either) While the ap rates may come out, your room type has to be avail as well to apply it. We had no luck for last weeks res. at all (checked every day)

We have an AP rate at the GF from 5/29-6/3 and used the 40% GP rate for the last day. The CM told us we'd have a really good chance of keeping our same room since we'll already be in the room at the time room assignments are made. No guarantees, though. It's worth the risk for us though since weekend rack rate for the RPC room is a little over $810.

I'm still on the lookout for an extension of the AP rate. If one comes out, I'll just switch it over.

Beth

I have yet to purchase my AP...was hoping to wait until we actually arrive at Disney so I can use a previously unused 1-day ticket for uprading (from March 2008).

1. Can I go ahead and call in and book the AP rate? We want to stay at POP in 2 rooms (large family).

2. Can we get just one AP since it's my understanding that an AP holder can book 2 rooms?

3. How does this work, does my name (as the AP holder) need to be on both rooms..and can we do that if we add dining?

Any help is appreciated!

AP holders can only book one room. You can book two if you have one AP holder staying in each room. Years ago we used to be able to book three rooms with one AP, even if the AP holder was a child. Times have changed.

I had called and asked and they told me two rooms. Oh no. totally would change my plan. (but that's okay...I can roll with the punches!)

thanks everyone for your replies - i think i'll stick with the 40% off total for now - we've had to move on our last day on two previous DVC trips and it is a pain - especially on a shorter trip...but i would do it mombeth2008 if i was paying $810!!! fingers crossed that the AP rates get extended soon!!!:thumbsup2
