AP discount + 35% of World of Disney!

I called today and was able to switch my FL res. rate over to the Holiday Shopping Getaway discount - saved a little money and now eligible for the 35% discount. Hopefully It will be for something I'm interested in buying!! :goodvibes

Still wondering how to get my email address attached to my AP status...anyone know?? I log on everyday to the AP website but it has NO WHERE to add your email for updates...

I wouldn't be too excited about the merchandise discount as it's probably nothing but a whole bunch of YOAMD stuff they are trying to get rid of to make room for next year's theme. The room discounts are comparable to other specials they are already running.

Wow, you sure know how to put a damper on a girl's shopping dreams. The email said the discount was good for merchandise at the Emporuim, World of Disney, the Christmas store in DTD, and others so I'm hoping that means the discount is good for most items except electronics and a few other things.

I'm not really sure about this either, because they sent the email to my husband and we use my email every time we make a reservation. We both go onto the passholder section of disneyworld.com every day, and he uses a different login and email address, so maybe they are just sending it out to a few passholders? :confused3

Look on the bright side...if I'm right, you'll be prepared. If I'm wrong -- you'll be pleasantly surprised. But either way you'll come out a winner because you'll be at WDW and I won't! :teeth:

Log on to the AP site. Then choose "pass benefits and discounts". Under that section you will see the following. Click on register and it will ask you to use your regular Disney log on (the one you use to make reservations and/or purchases on the store). Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't I do it for all of our APs. We still manage to get the emails.

Stay up-to-date on all of the benefits and special offers Passholders receive throughout the year:

I haven't received it, and I've been an AP holder for more than 20 years, with no breaks in between. I looked for a place to enter an email too, and couldn't find it. I've had the same email address for years, and used it on all my reservations, and I get my reservation confirmations just fine. Maybe I live so close that they don't think I'll bother booking?!? :confused3 They could be trying to reach the people that are just far enough away that it's more convenient to spend the night than to drive home. :sad2:

If I follow the directions in the post above, it says I'm already registered on the site, so I'm stumped as to why I didn't get the email.

I got the same offer as a mere non-passholding FL resident. Maybe you could just call and ask to book the new FL resident shopping trip rate...?

My understanding on the merchandise discount is everything except collectibles, Disney Dollars and electronics.

We're booked for this -- we could only do a couple of days, as we just got back from WDW a week ago. But that discount was a major factor in getting us to go back and stay on-property, which we usually don't do because we go six to eight times a year. With this discount, we figure we can knock out a whole lot of Christmas (and personal!) shopping.

I did notice that the e-mail included a line about restrictions on quantities using the discount. Anyone have any idea what that might mean in practice? We might wind up buying several of some items for gift purposes if the restrictions are reasonable ...

Oh great....I guess that means no PINS?!?

Yeah, we got this e-mail/pin code, first one EVER & we can't use it. phooey.

agnes!

Pins probably will be included. Pin people (such as myself) may call them collectibles. But by Disney standards they re not. (Or at least have not been.) By collectibles they usually mean the high end items such as cels, exclusive LE figurines, paintings, etc.

We are DVC members, but also renewed our AP in September. I also got this offer. We had some airline tickets about to expire, so I couldn't resist. We are checking in November 16. Plus we have other family who will be there at the same time. I LOVE shopping discounts!

We're leaving Friday-just wondered if anyone had used this discount yet, and how did it turn out? Could you use it almost anywhere except the World Showcase stores and a few stores in Downtown Disney? I'm reading the fine print on the pin offer and it looks like you can use it in your resort gift shop too as long as you're not at the Swan or the Dolphin.

Here's a thread of people reporting back: According to this thread plus an PM I got from another member, collectibles are part of this shopping discount.

Just back - used the 35% discount shopping code/$49 per night hotel offer

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"We just got back last night from a quick two day trip. For anyone who has booked with the 35% discount shopping code, it is good at any Disney owned store. We were at Magic kingdom and Epcot and it was good at every store we went to there. At Downtown Disney it was good at most stores, except the ones not owned by Disney - Lego, Arribas Bros., Basin; etc. Even though it wasn't good at the Arribas Bros. store, we were still able to get a 35% discount on their products because the Art of Disney Store had some of their items. So we ended up getting a nice Mickey Mouse Arribas Bros. piece, just by going next door. The code was good on everything in the Art of Disney Store, World of Disney, their Christmas Store; etc.

When you check in there will be a discount code printed on your hotel key card. Just show the cashier the discount code that is printed on it. Some cashiers also asked to see my Florida driver's license, some wanted to see my annual pass, and others didn't ask for any extra form of i.d. So there really isn't any consistency with how they check that.

It was a great deal. I got a lot of Holiday shopping done."
